Chapter 114

Heidi
“Keep focusing.” Noirnamu said encouragingly. The Herald had his hand over my chest, healing what he could with what was left of Rahrraam.
“This is kind of hard.” I mumbled.
“You’re mending your soul with me. Of Course it’s hard.” The Herold chuckled. “You’re the second mortal that I’ve ever shown this to. Unfortunately, I can tell you won’t be able to carry this skill over when you wake.” He smiled, though it seemed like a sad one.
“Really?” I asked, focusing my concentration on my now beating heart. There was still a hole in it, but it was shrinking slowly. He tended this wound every day for an hour,
Time here did not matter, but I think I’d been here three days. There was no sun or moon, though there was at least a clock on the wall. The Herald went by the name Herold since he had no name, but I got a chance to see him in a better light.
He seemed to be actually kind to people he deemed alright. He was also silent a moment.
“There was an almost white wolf I saved back when the world was young. As a puppy, she was abandoned by her people. The Goddess beseeched the master, and he sent me for good measure. I nursed her to health for weeks, and looked for her family for about two decades, though I fear my efforts were for not.”
It sounded really familiar, but there are plenty of white and off-white wolves. “Why do you say that?” I asked.
“She likely died anyway.” He said, scratching his chin. “I named her Gwen’iethea. I returned her to her pack, but when they saw me, they were too afraid of her to allow her to return. They didn’t have any flesh forms, but she did. She was born with human features. I was made to come back here, but times then were different… It makes me happy that she is not down here, but it is bittersweet.” He said looking down.
That was Definitely gram-gram.
“The Queen lives.” I said putting my hand on his.
“No wonder her highness was so adamant about saving her… it’s good to know that she is mated to the Moon Goddess’s chosen champion. I may yet see her again.” He smiled.
“I thank you for saving her. She is the grandmother of my adopted father, and I would not have grown had she not healed my soul first.” I smiled back.
“…. Damn, She did such a good job, I didn’t know you had any cracks little vessel. I wish you had the ability to gain this power permanently.” He said with a smile. “But I Can teach you how to manage your energy. You have no bond with any demon now, so there’s no reason for you to leak So Much …. I’m actually surprised he wasn’t overweight…” he mumbled.
There was a knock on the door. Norinamu answered and came back fairly happy. “They said the healing bath is ready.”
“I’ll fly you across the valley.” Offered Herald.
“Thank you.” I said with a small smile.
“No problem. You’ll be restored, and when you do, tell Gwenny who raised her. I wasn’t allowed to directly Say who I was, but You can… I hope it gives her a little closure that her papa didn’t Just Leave her alone in the world before she found her mate….”
-----John-----
“I still stand by my motion.” Said Brutus.
“Then you are the Only one.” Hissed Jang.
I was in my office on my own. I didn’t need my father to hold my hand, but he did support me. He sat stoically in his office, glaring at the screen. It seemed like Brutus was Bold at home away from the anger he created.
The King understandably was Livid, since Brutus was trying to brand Heidi a dangerous Adversary worshiping threat while she was still out… it sickened me.
I was also in the cell of Eskaal while he had internet access And he was elbows deep in an abomination I KNOW was illegal…. One mistake could have me likely beheaded.
“We trail a wolf who isn’t conscious. That alone proves you’re Wrong.” I grumbled.
“But Why is she?” He questioned.
“Her familiar is dead. If you did your research, you would know that she is Harmless now.” Said father. “You hunted Dark Witches With me. You Know this.”
“But it still should be considered that since she is a vessel of the Horned One, that your son Will side with the Adversary. No man can kill his own mate.” He said with crossed arms.
“You wish to invalidate my heirship so that my father seat be easier to steal, but no matter what you do, you will never be Earthen. You are Third, but you are Still not Frosted. Nor are you Breathless, nor a Dead One. Even a New Line appeared while you sit there craving more than your true station.” I said calmly. “Nor will you be anything other than one who chooses to make trouble. Your only wish is for power you don’t own.”
My wolf was silent, choosing not to listen. We both know if he did, I’d be on a plane to FrostMoon.
“I wish to remove a Dark Witch from the Council. You all look at this through rose colored glasses, but all who sit in a seat know the danger…. All but One member has had the pleasure of seeing the devastation One Dark witch can really do.” He countered.
“Enough.” Said the King. “A witch without her familiar is a fangless, clawless lion. Even if she bonds again, even if the Horned One himself became her familiar, she will not reach her full potential. She is no threat, as I know her soul is fairly pure, and if she Ever becomes one, I have no problem doing what needs to be Done for her mercy.” He growled.
“Yet we sent a child to bring in a man.” Brutus commented, referring to Herrakken.
I have no idea what the king said… though I felt I knew it. This was the Original Wolf language Eskaall spoke about… and I kind of started to piece it together. I felt… a little strange, like I was just Given the ability to understand this…. I bet I could speak it too if I tried replacing wolf sounds with human ones….
“I have tolerated your Shit a Long time Little Wolf. You disrespect me in my fucking face.” He snarled as I began to understand. “I suggest for your own good that you do not come to the next meeting. Leave my little girl alone. If this is ever brought up again, you will join my collection of pelts.”
“Forgive me sire.” He bowed, as did the rest of us.
He’d angered the King so much that his face was red, and his eyes became a blackish gray.
“You Idiot. How Dare you anger our king so.” Growled father in original Wolfspeach. “Your highness, I will call your mate for you.”
“That would be wise. If I stand up from this chair, if I move at all, I will find myself at your door Brutus.” He warned with a glare so hot, it made me have a cold sweat go down my neck.
“I think I will take my leave.” He said hanging up, not waiting for permission, which made the King more upset. It was a blatant disrespect of dismissal protocol…
Even if a word he spoke held some truth, he still shouldn’t have said it. At least not like that, nor poke the bear. What did he have to gain from being skinned alive? What was his reasoning to die so bad?
“My mate is sleeping, but also my mate holds a pure heart… One that is not easily wavered. She broke her bond for not just me, but for Pack. She Sacrificed everything she’d gained from the witches so that we were safe… How Pitiful this is.” I snarled in my poor excuse for Original Wolf, but it surprised the elders anyway. “Your majesty, if you wish it, may I take my leave?” I asked.
“Go young one. She will not wake anytime soon, but I suppose you wish to see her.” He said firmly. “This meeting is Over. Heidi is not to be brought up again unless she breaks the law, or harms pack.”
The Queen shut off his feed with one hand, and cupped his face with the other.
“Before you leave boy, know that I support your love.” Said Augustus, the Eighth Seat.
“Thank you for your support.” I said wiping my brow after hanging up.
I did the entire thing straight faced, and in Eskaal’s cell. Heidi still slept on the couch, not stirring.
“Thank the gods this place looks so Generic.” I said relieved that was over.
The Beast Prince chuckled. “Come. I finished the preparations. Carry her and hold her in the circle.” He said happily.
“Here goes nothing.” I mumbled.
I picked her up and slowly carried her ‘outside’… This Had to work. If it didn’t, she would remain asleep…and I would try something else.
Eskaal spoke in original wolf, and I understood. “Hear me Horned One, Father of my master, grant this vessel of flesh and clay Life. May it breathe and live as a pseudo replacement. May it be something for the mate of its maker, Heidi Charred- Stone’s familiar. May it replace the one who angered you so.” He said raising his hands in the air.
The artificial blue sky became black, and there was no light in here besides the electricity inside the house. A black and red striped candle floated in front of me from nowhere... I don’t know where it came from, but its flames were a dark purple. It did not emit light… It just made the area around me cold.
“She is ready.” Said the Horned One, and the ground underneath me shook.
