Chapter 64
Eclipse
I heard the immediate roar in response, and in my fear, it caused me to shift back almost instantly. I had no idea what to do or say to him when he arrived. He was unlike anything I’d ever seen or heard before. I somehow found myself in the dress. Gamma had unlocked herself to quickly dress me before going back to her cell, and the air became too thick to breathe.
You could taste it, almost see the danger in the air. The hair on the back of my neck stood up, seeing Alpha this way. He almost seemed as if there was smoke coming off the bottom of his paws, but that was impossible. He shook his smoking, void black fur, and gazed at me with full authority.
It shook me to my very core, and for once I looked away, unable to understand or keep this gaze. His eyes were fire, and I couldn’t understand what he was thinking. His steps came ever closer, and I took steps to the back of the cell, and I saw him duck his head down to enter. He stood there, not saying anything. I was in the corner, and I watched him shift and take the shorts off the bed. His eyes were still ablaze. He was covered in deer and wolf’s blood, smelling of burning charcoal. What had he done?
SLAM. Gamma Branson locked us in, and it sent Alpha into a rage, he shook the bars, but were unable to bend them, it was as if they had enchantments on them. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did….. He let out an angered roar at his sister, and turned back to me, then her again. “You will release me.” said Rakaam, full of venom.
“Fuck you and eat shit.” said Gamma with a smirk. Was she CRAZY? She was crazy. I followed the plan of a mad woman and I am going to die. I could only stare wide eyed, my body could not move, and I knew without Shimmer I wouldn’t be able to talk.
He let out a deep growl, and began to try harder to bend the bars. They began to cave a bit, but only a small amount. His hands started to smoke, and he growled. The bars were silver lined. Any other wolf would have stopped when their hands began to burn as his did, though it seemed to give him more gumption to continue trying until it began to smell like someone was grilling meat…. I should have tried to soothe him to stop, but at the moment I only watched him let out one last annoyed growl….
“Sister, you ware my patience.” He snarled. She turned her back to him, and jingled the keys. She walked out, flipping him off down the hall. I could smell no fear off her, but honestly the only thing I could smell was Alpha.
He turned to me, absolutely livid. Rage leaked through his pores, and I was the only thing in this small cage with an Alpha, an enraged one at that. My heart beat a mile a minute in the small cell corner. He sat on the bed, and looked at me, his gaze unreadable. “Come, little mate.” He patted a spot next to him, and looked patiently for me to come.
I could not understand the tone of his voice. I stood there, but if I continued, he would probably get me anyway. I also knew without Shimmer, I wouldn’t be able to use my body, but she was terrified in the back of my mind. /Help me out Shimmy Sham!/ I yell, that usually always made her mad, but she whimpered instead.
/No./ She said. /He is too much like this./ She whined and I tried grabbing her fur. She shook me off and scampered farther away from me.
I had an idea, while he began to look impatient. I mentally ran to Shimmer and dragged her to me. I held her too tight for her to shake off. /Being scared is normal, but he won’t hurt us./ I try to soothe her and it worked. Together we mustered up all my will. I walked to him, and hugged him. This was maybe the first time I had ever went to him while he was his wolf, and my legs felt as if they would give out at any moment.
He sat there frozen in shock. I had never willingly come to him like this, but he seemed like he needed me. He let a smile creep up the corner of his lips, and took the air out my lungs picking me up. I felt like I was going to be broken in half and I was swiftly put in his lap. He held me like I would never see him again.
“I am sorry. I know you fear me, but I need you, little mate.” He commanded, he breathed in my scent and kissed my mark. Any other time, I would have felt a mess, but not now. Now it only made me nervous if I made the right choice.
He let out a low chuckle. “Little mate, be calm.” He ran a clawed hand through my hair. I flinched, and his smile turned to a blank expression again. He let out a sigh. “I wish you would understand, small mate of mine. You calm me by your presence. You are my mate, and what you wish is important…” He took a deep breath, and let out a calm, slow exhale. “There is no purpose to this power if I cannot have you… would Kaiden make you happy?” I could not make out his expression through his words, but by what he said, he was torn. I didn’t know what to think.
Honestly, I just wanted him to be as he was.
“You calm the soul, little mate, in the morning you will have Kaiden. For now, stay with me please. You do not have to fear. I have control of myself.” He seemed like it took a lot of effort to retract his claws, and he held me to his chest. He laid us down in the small twin bed. His feet dangled off the end. I looked up at him, he was looking at me with red eyes now. “Rest little mate.” He commanded, I could understand his tone more, and I felt myself calm a little bit.
His breaths were deep, and steady. I felt his heartbeat, and it was like a drum. He no longer felt like a king, but his scent still smelled of danger. I rested on his chest, and he held me so I wouldn’t fall. He had already passed out. It seemed his true form had made him tired, but I wasn’t. I had heard the screams, and he was still covered in blood. There were a lot of different wolves’ scent on him, and it made me question how many had he killed.
/Please go to bed./ Pleaded Shimmer. She didn’t want to talk about it. I caved in for her. Sitting there thinking of nothing helped me drift off.
The dawn creeped into the small cell through a tiny window. The sun smacked me in the eyes with deadly precision, and I woke up to see that Alpha was still asleep. He seemed more toned, and his hair touched the floor of the low, small bed. I still took a mental note to gently roll off him, but he had me in a vice-grip. I sighed. If I wanted to go to the bathroom, I would have to wake him up.
I debated this. Is it really worth it? How bad did I actually have to go? My bladder reminded me of the priority, and I wiggled against him holding me in both arms now. I gently slapped his face, and he growled at me, before rolling over on his side. He had me pressed to his muscular body with my back against the wall. “Mine.” He grumbled possessively in his sleep.
“I have to go to the bathroom!” I whisper yelled, gently slapping his face again, a little harder this time. His red eyes turned amber yellow, and he mumbled a small sorry.
After I went to the bathroom, I went back to cuddling Alpha, who smelled my hair and went back to bed. “Wake up asshat, and look what you did.” Growled Beta Connor, with two cups of coffee in his hands. Alpha and I shot up, regret instantly showed in his eyes. Red claw marks were on Beta’s entire face, and he was covered in bandages.
“Brother, forgive me. I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you…” Kaiden reached through the bars, cupping the side of his little brother’s cheek. Beta let out a pained whine that made me feel sorry for him.
He unlocked the door so Kaiden could open it, but Kaiden looked confused. There was red on his hand, and the clean marks smeared. Connor laughed and bolted, with Alpha close behind, both of them screaming down the hall. I chased after them, as the door to the cell seemed to try and close on its own. The guards were terrified, and Alpha growled a rumble that shook the bars. We ran out the door and into the forest, past all the carnage that Alpha had done. There were at least 5 bodies ripped apart all over the place. And Alpha froze.
Connor put the coffee in both our hands, and then placed a firm pat on his brother’s shoulder. “Those are escaped prisoners. No, I did not release them. No, you did not hurt any pack members… but that’s only because we issued a curfew before you got here. Yes, I’m still a devilishly handsome model under this facepaint, Nancy is still mad at me though.” Connor said with a smirk.
“… Reports.” Said Kaiden casually, and he started drinking, walking over the bodies… I wasn’t thirsty.
“Horizon needs payroll approved by the CPA today, the Omega Delivery Service invoiced you yesterday, but I can’t remember the pin to login, and there is a witch that needs to be interrogated in 517.” Said Connor. I was confused. How could he be so calm about what he had done?
“Babygirl, your coffee’s gonna get cold.” Mentioned Alpha, completely walking over the still smoldering body of a prisoner.
“We knew this would happen, it always does. Don’t freak out over these murderers. Almost every prisoner is here for a reason.” Said Connor calmly.
