Book 2: Chapter 14
John
“Didn’t my husband want to switch?” She said timidly, and I let my eyes flash brown when I faced her. She had the window seat, just like Heidi. If he did anything to her, I would kill his mate. I held in a growl. I buckled in my seatbelt, and the plane took off after a little while. It felt like riding in a car to be honest. I didn’t expect that.
“He did that to spite me.” I told her casually.
“I’m not one of them, I’m just married to him.” She said, though she looked like she didn’t want to be.
“Let me guess, you were born in the pack and they made you marry that jackass.” I asked and she nodded.
“I would leave him, but I would be ostracized.” She told me and I felt a little bad for her. Do not compare her to our little mate. We are not adopting the human. I know you John. Warned Terracotta. I nearly outwardly chuckled.
Technically I Could take her, but why? She would be surrounded by werewolves, some of which partake in the eating of man. I never tried the stuff, but Alpha often told me that if I ever did, I wouldn’t be able to stop. I noticed that she looked absolutely terrified. “Do I scare you? I smell your fear.” I told her quietly.
“You’re probably one of the biggest Alphas I’ve ever seen, and my husband is probably annoying your mate… of course I’m scared. Why didn’t he just switch?” She whispered angrily.
“You can stop whispering Anastasia you’re with friends, if that mutt touches you, let me know.” Said the human that sat across the other aisle. My father snarled, which scared the flight attendant.
“Not again…” She whispered, scampering to the captain’s quarters.
“There won’t be any bloodshed, Miss Gina.” Said my father casually, and the wolves calmed down a bit.
“Watch your tongue mortal, you speak to the Lower Prince, heir to the Second Seat.” Growled a warrior, which made the rest snarl with him. Even nonwarriors joined in.
“Be quiet some of us are tryin’ to sleep.” Complained one of the hunters. Who thought it was a good idea to put hunters on a flight with nearly a fucking pack of wolves??! Corporate goblins probably. I grunted, which quieted them. My father was quiet, as well as my mother. I think they wanted to know how I would handle this.
“Enough.” I commanded, and I sounded Exactly like an Alpha…. I impressed myself but I would have to put that on hold. “We are all a few thousand feet in the air. We have no choice but to be cordial, at least until we get through the gates. Places of travel are neutral territory and we all would break the law if we fought.” I said like a leader and there were grumbles.
“My son is right. You would all be burned at the stake by the Church of the Light. Every cathedral in every major city has a secret chamber for that.” He said and it got really quiet.
“Your grace forgive us for disturbing you.” Said his Beta, and my father chuckled. He also put on some eye blinds and headphones.
I will leave this to you. I can tell you won’t be sleeping, and I have had no rest in 4 days now. He linked.
Holy shit. Are you ok?
Language. I’m fine, now let me rest. We have a few hours left.
“This is all my fault. I shouldn’t have talked to him.” She mumbled to herself.
“No this was going to happen eventually. Heidi are you ok up there?” I asked her.
“I’m ok.” She said like she did when she wasn’t.
“Her hair’s really soft for a dog.” He chuckled.
------Heidi------
I internally screamed when that stinky man sat next to me, boxing me in. I felt like the walls of the plane were closing in, but I couldn’t freak out. I took a deap breath, and tried to look calm on the outside, but on the inside I needed my mate.
“You don’t have to worry little girly, I don’t bite.” He smelled like alcohol, and it made me nervous, he leaned into me and whispered in my ear. “If I were younger, I’d have taken you home with those bouncy curls.” He snickered and it made my hair stand on the back of my neck.
I was sitting near a creep! “Shinazcal.” I whispered, but nothing happened. Why weren’t his hands invisibly bound?!
“… did you just…” He growled. “Hunters are immune to curses doggy.” He said angrily, and I debated on telling my mate. If I didn’t, he might get mad…. But if I do John might break the treaty’s law… and belong to the Church of the Light for trying to protect me since he hadn’t broken the law. At least not yet….
“I’m not scared of you.” I mumbled, but I kept stuttering. He tisked.
“That takes the fun out of it…. you should be.” He grinned.
“Fuck you.” I stuttered. He stroked my hair.
“There’s the red head fire.” He said, leaning over to whisper again. “I’ve made my mind up… when we get off this plane, I’m taking you to market. That mate of yours is two tone… I bet he’ll go for double.” He mumbled.
Heidi do you need help? Linked John’s mother. Aemi was a strong, fearless warrior. I know she would kill this man, shifting in the small space if I told her what was happening.
I just don’t like humans. I lied. I’d never talked to humans…. This was my first time. I know they all weren’t like This. What of Noah? Asked Sparkle. He doesn’t count. I told her. I never saw him as human; he was too nice.
I will slit his throat when we get off. I haven’t had man meat in a while. She linked sternly.
There was also commotion as soon as she linked me. John sounded and felt like he was completely done. We were nowhere near LapisMoon, and I guess that Alpha Ron and Luna wanted us to settle this…. I didn’t know what to make of it, and I lied to John too. I felt bad, but I didn’t want a fight. I wanted my mate.
“Her hair’s really soft for a dog.” The creep chuckled.
John took a deep breath and stood up. “Shut your fucking mouth. Heidi come here.” He commanded like an Alpha. He growled like one too. I stood up, and walked to him. The guy almost touched my butt, but I slapped his hand away before he had a chance to do anything.
John looked like he was about ready to shift, but instead he common linked the wolves. Hear me pack. This mortal has touched and harassed my mate, your future Luna. Whomever wants to rip this ass a new one, get up and sit next to him. They won’t make it to wherever the fuck they’re headed.
Someone linked him as I walked to John, and I was relieved that he had me switch with the woman. She sat where the warrior was, and I now sat with my mate. He grabbed me roughly and rubbed his scent on me suddenly.
“I smell your fear little mate; you are safe now.” He mumbled softly. I didn’t say anything, I just let him hold me when we sat down.
“Only cowards harass females.” Snarled a warrior, and there were murmurs of agreement.
“He has disrespected the royal house of Stone.” Snarled another.
“Yes, and by law they are mine.” Said John, and there were murmurs of agreement.
“Bullshit, the bitch is fine.” The Creep waved his hand dismissively, and he got slapped in the back of the head by the warrior beside him so hard, that he was knocked out. What the warrior did caused an uproar and there was chaos. Some of them had silver wedding rings or other kinds of jewelry that they used on wolves that sat near them. I had used this airline before. It was ran by goblins, and they didn’t care who was on what plane…. So long as they made the maximum profit per seat. Though… I had never sat next to anyone who would start trouble.
“This is your captain speaking. We are an hour away from Ernest City. Please refrain from altercations until after descent.” He warned.
Everyone calmed down after that, because no one wanted to get into too much trouble after they got off. John kept rubbing his chin on me and growling, but I didn’t understand why he was doing it. I liked his scent of fresh earth on a rainy day, and it did bring me comfort. I guess I answered my own question….?
The plane landed, and Alpha Ron yawned and stretched, but Luna Aemi elbowed him playfully. “Our son handled this well.” She told him.
“What was his ruling?” He asked extending his claws to scratch his head.
