Book 2 Chapter 25
John
“Your highness, you are more than a Lord, you are the Lower Prince of your people…. There’s already a chair with your name engraved in the seat next to your father. If you have any love in your heart for her, you’ll at least consider my words.” He looked sincere, but I shrugged him off me, and went to my mate. I held her while she silently slept.
I hated that he was right, but I couldn’t. I can’t. I should but I can’t. She would hate me forever and a day for marrying her off, but if I didn’t at least try, she would be in danger. I needed to make a few phone calls. I got up, stretched, and about 1am I called Jesse.
“Huh?” She said sleepily.
“Jess we need to talk.” I told her seriously, and I could hear her shifting into a seated position.
“You want that weak ass mutt to beat me again? I don’t wanna talk to you.” She snarled and I snarled back.
“It’s this shit that got you into the situation you’re in now. So shut up for once and just listen.” I growled, and she was quiet.
“Well?” She demanded.
“Garnet… he came up with a plan to help you, but you aren’t going to like it.” I said and there was silence. “Your file now is… well...”
“It’s tainted in a bad way I know, I’m not stupid. Dad may have been pretending to be a Gamma, but the office he worked in was real.” She snapped.
“Garnet thinks marrying you off to the Beta of ShadowMoon would help you. You can’t stay here with the pack freaking rabid.” I said and she scoffed.
“You don’t know that yet, and I don’t want a Beta. I want my true mate.” She snapped.
“Then I will respect your wishes, but know I can’t protect you anymore… you’re not my sister.” I said quietly and hung up. I knew I made her cry, but it had to be said. She was acting like this thinking that I would save her, or pardon her like Xavier used to. I can’t do that.

I woke up, still confused on what happened. Well, more like why. I knew she hated me, but the thing that was on my mind was why did she, even after I stood up for her? Why, did she act the way she does every time she gets a chance? She is jealous. My wolf snarled in my head. She wished she were stronger, or that I added my magic to make it hurt … She was as vicious as she was tiny.
I ignored her and looked around for John, but he was already gone. He was supposed to do patrol with his father before I met up with them to start my first day of Luna training. I had learned pretty much all the programs from dad, and mom gave me pointers now and again. However, since I didn’t show any real interest, they didn’t force me.
“Good morning.” Said Ann, she was much taller than I remembered, at least a foot taller. She had hair like my mate, and eyes like his too. Her wolf must have said something to her, but her eyes were silver like mine. “Shine said good morning too, but she calls you mother.” She said with a small smile, and I was kind of shocked.
“I guess that’s what Alpha Ron meant by you would cling to us.” I said sitting on the couch to watch the morning news. It was only 5:30 am, but the sun was almost up.
“Well, I mean this is the birth of a new life for me, so I guess I would need parents.” She joked.
“Then I’ll be the best mom I can be.” I retorted, and she handed me some scrambled eggs with toast, sitting next to me.
“So, how’s it feel?” Asked Garnet.
“Like I’m dreaming, but I know I’m not…. also, the whole ‘voice in your head that can take over and turn you into a beast’ thing is new too.” She giggled.
“You’re the most beautiful wolf I ever seen love.” He said playfully, and she shook her head.
We all ate watching the human news, and honestly, the morning was calm.
“She shifted into her wolf, and tried to sleep in bed with you two, but I got her before she went in and woke you.” He giggled and she slapped his chest.
“You said you would keep that secret!” She screamed blushing and he laughed harder.
“No, I said that I would keep it secret that your wolf kept sniffing my crotch- oh fuck.” He got on the floor and started doing crunches.
“I’m not telling you to stop until you want to puke!” She screamed and he grunted. She blushed a full shade of bright red, and I giggled at them both. Here she could have happiness.
“Um… why not just let him do like a hundred… that’s allot right?” I asked, and she narrowed her eyes at him. She looked like she was debating.
“….200” She mumbled.
It took him no time to finish, and I was glad that he seemed happy about it. There was no reason for it, but if he was content, I wouldn’t argue, He sprung up with the last one, and ruffled her hair.
“Well, that’s enough nonsense for me. Let’s go outside and give Shine a spin.” He said cheerfully. He pulled off his clothes and immediately shifted waiting at the door. It had been a while since I had shifted, so I figured why not. I let him outside and pulled off my pajamas, shifting into my wolf nearly instantly, and I waited for Ann. She still needed to get the hang of it.
Her dark brown wolf had a slight lighter brown to it, but her eyes were silver like mine. She was the size of an average she wolf, though that meant she was twice my size. Garnet was an entire other category. He was probably as big as Aunt Shelly, though with more muscle.
Lets Play. Her wolf yipped like a pup, and ran around the house in a circle. We played tag, and it was the first time in a long time that I got to have a little fun. I hadn’t had a chance to pretty much act like a little pup since when I was at CharredMoon, chasing Uncle Connor in the yard. I cherished the memories, and after some of the official duties get done, I’m going back to say hi.
Pay attention! She complained, nipping me on the ankle lightly, and I whipped around, chasing her. I was small, but I was more than capable of keeping up with her, since she was so new. I could bet money that she could outrun me in a few weeks, once she got the hang of it. We ran around the house, getting strange looks from the warriors. Wolves are playful, but most of the ones I saw looked like they were headed to work since it was early. Suddenly, Garnet stopped and looked alert, turning just his head and perking up his ears.
Go inside and get dressed. I need to check something. He common linked, because neither of us understood wolf. Well… I wasn’t fluent.
We did as we were told, and I knew something was up. I hoped John was okay, because I knew that he was probably the target.
She had a little trouble shifting back, but I helped her by letting her see me shift slower than I usually did. We threw on clothes and locked the doors. There were deep sniffs, at the door moments later. If we were even a bit off, they would have heard us. We held each other, under the couch, barely able to see the door. And I saw a shadow in front of the bottom threshold. Ann suddenly passed out, and I was beyond worried. I couldn’t wake her… she might make noise, but I didn’t know if I could carry her either. I decided waiting was probably best.
Whoever it was, was standing in front of the door. And I could smell that they were old…. And really strong.
“He’s not here.” Said a voice.
“The females and Garnet’s scents are fresh… they’re gone. Go to the packhouse. I want the boy. Bring me my brother, and I will reward you handsomely.” Hissed the man. I debated on linking John… but if he was as old as I thought he was… I wondered would he hear me.
“As you wish, your highness.” Said the other voice with I assumed a bow.
I could hear him shifting, casting a shadow on the floor from the window… he was massive.
He snarled something in wolf along the lines of find them, and I held in all my panic!
