Book 3: chapter 97
Tiffany
Each leader stood equidistant, while their wives stood inbetween the distance between them. Our hands were stretched out, with the Pit in the center, flapping above us, with Gulteer on the ground directly underneath.
“I bind the pollution of this planet to the Pit.” Shouted Gulteer, slamming down his cane
“I accept.” Apythmenos said raising his left hand. Wind rushed inside the ritual room, tinted a deep red. “Alright. Let’s make this happen at every ritual room.” He said snapping his fingers.
Everyone, crowd included were teleported to black diamond. We did this until our energy was completely drained, but the Pit licked his fingers.
Magic expelled from evil, or anger were funneled to our ritual rooms, which then sent the energy to the Pit. This makes It easier for him to absorb the energy, since he doesn’t have to force it to come to him.
His hand is too heavy… his claws are too sharp, so to keep the strain off the world, at least half of it is being sent to him, while he collects what’s closest.
Gulteer stretched. “That was a good workout. Anyone still up for making some in the more remote outposts. I only need about 13 or so people.”
“Me and my son will go.” Said Alteer.
“My wife and I are fine to keep going.” Said Velimier.
“I will accompany you all as well.” I said with a light smile.
“I actually had something different planned for you.” Said the King. “The former prison of Grahkes was never cleaned. Your barrier magic is needed to seal such a whole.”
“I can teleport you.” Said Apythmenos. “I’ll put a return portal in CharredMoon that will last 24 hours. The youngest master would probably seal away the runes out of habit if I used BeastMoon.”
“What of LapisMoon?” I asked casually. It surprised a lot of people that I look him in the eyes, and instead of scolding me, he landed. My upbringing was pretty much need-to-know.
“I took care of that one myself. His old cage was ripped apart by the master’s eldest. No one was hurt though.” He said for my sake. Xaxas holds no attachment to my family other than mom. The death of a few mortals to catch a fugitive means little to the Lord of Judgement.
With a snap of fingers, I was high in the air. I assumed that the return home portal was also in the air somewhere over grandpa Kaiden’s pack.
I shifted, letting my wings glide down to the large deep manmade imitation Apythmenos they threw him in. It really was a snake pit, with a drain at the bottom. Originally, they defeated him by separating the Crimson Serpent from the Beast Prince, and drained him of all his blood, and threw him down here.
This place was awful… Cruel. I could still smell the fear and old, dried blood…. But at the same time, Grahkes was a soldier of the Night Court, captured by the champions of the gods…. I remember looking for him with a wine keg filled with blood, and Stanley had bodies lashed to his broom. I remembered that through Theo… and had she flown 50 miles north, she would’ve found him.
There were great spikes down here about as thick as me… I guess the hooks on the end were to pin him down here… how painful that must be… to be in a state of half-awareness… tortured.
I summoned the Staff of Yellow Diamond, and stood in the center of the large circle. The grates to the drain below were wide, but the gaps to collect blood were wider still. I kept my wings out, so I wouldn’t fall.
“I bind the pollution of this earth to the Pit!” I yelled, swirling the red magic around like I was stirring coffee.”
With the magic now in motion, I could see the red mist go up, and northwest. I don’t know where the Pit was now for that, since Xaxas’s island is floating around in the North Sea somewhere, but it would be the claimed lands of the Horned One and his kin.
But now that I was done, I could see my grandparents. The flight would be from the southern corner of Missoura to the middle of Jentucky, but shifted, travel would be only an hour and a half.
The flight while shifted was a little sketchy though. I had to make sure I was cloaked, unlike back home at Yellow. But at the same time, I know Grandpa Kaiden has the same experience, since the wolves there live in the deep woods of Jentucky. The only humans they experience are mostly humans in their prison. Other than that, they live in the boonies.
But once I saw the pack, I slowly glided lower. They were freaking the Fuck Out though. I wasn’t a dragon, and the only known serpent on Urth is Asanguis… so…
\[RAHHH!!!!\] I shouted, while Theo laughed.
/You’re doing Grandpa Dirtyyyyyy!!!!!/ She giggled. /You’re gonna scare them to death!/
I could see grandpa down there shifted. With every pant, he breathed fire…. That was new….
\[Intruder you trespass!\] he shouted.
\[RRRAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!\] I giggled, landing, and shifting. “Rah!” I did finger guns, letting green lightning shoot from them.
He skidded to a stop, along with the Warriors. I learned the clothes trick, summoning a tshirt and some shorts. They did the same in the way of someone having a bag in their mouth full of shorts and pullover dresses. The idea of having clothes bin throughout the forest, and Warriors porting the in their maws was started here, and spread everywhere else.
“Tifffany!” complained grandpa. “Oh my gods, at first I thought you were some kind of noodle dragon Rogue come to wreck the pack!”
“A Noodle Rogue?!” I huffed, while the Warriors laughed.
“Yup.” He ruffled my hair. “What brings you all the way from South Amerika?”
“You heard about the Beast Prince right?” I asked.
“He has a mate; I’m sure whatever he did has an explanation.” Said grandpa.
“I know… but in the meantime, I was sent to help purify the air.” I motioned the sky.
They looked up, but they didn’t seem to notice… that’s Apythmenos’s doing. Supernaturals know what the red skies mean, but the illusion will hold only so long. I could see it becoming redder, since they hadn’t found Eskaal yet.
“Well you did a good job.” He beamed. “Come on, let’s get to the packhouse. Babygirl would love to see that the noodle is a pup.”
“Is Bagel still being a Bad Bean?” I asked with a giggle kind of changing the subject
Xaxas gave him a dog as a gift after he found out he didn’t like them. You can’t tell now though, since she’s basically treated like another pup!
Bagel is a small, honey brown pit mix rescue from a shelter in Bison, with little white feet, stripe down her nose, and a dipstick tail. She sits at the table and calls grandpa ‘papa’. It’s really cute, but her thinking she’s a werewolf gets her into trouble.
“That little dog thinks she’s a werewolf.” He shook his head. “You know she wanted to come too?”
“No way!” I tried not to laugh as hard as I did, but imagining a like 40 pound dog charging a bear sized wolf, was kind of funny.
“She tries to go out and hunt Rogues too now, but her idea of hunting is barking at them… and running back to the safety of Warriors.” He shook his head, shimmying on some shorts that were too small. “Are we out?” He asked.
“I already ordered some more.” Complained my great uncle Connor. He walked like a cowboy. “Hey Tiffany!” He beamed.
“Meowdy!” I waved back, fixing their shorts with a wave of my hand. “What time is it?”
“It’s 6:30. If you’re hungry, dinner should be ready soon!” beamed Connor, and I was hungry.
I don’t know how long we worked on helping Apythmenos… plus as soon as he mentioned food, my stomach growled….
“Well…. My inner beast spoke for me.” I sheepishly sprouted wings and flew with them as they ran.
That was fun, since it reminded me of my coven. Since they are magic users, they never truly know what it’s like to *be* the beast, rather, they imitate. They defeat the likeness they want, bind and bond with it like a pseudo familiar…
Those who aren’t as gifted get that. They know what it feels like to be a beast, but they are not a beast… They are pureblood witches. They will never know what I do.
Because of the wolfish blood in me, my bond with Theo, and Ifreeya are muddled. I’m not sure how much of it is the wolf I didn’t get, and Theo replaced, and how much was magic meant to imitate… But I *am* a serpent. I have cold blood… my organs and their makeup are reptilian.
For me… I’m a little bit of both. Theo replaces the wolf I would have gained, and Ifreeya gave that instinct a shape.
But the rush of wind in my hair was freeing. The smell of pack, gives nostalgia. I remembered when I was a kid, coming down here and visiting was always the best… Fishing, hunting, zipping around on my broom with Harry absolutely Screaming, holding on for dear life… and getting grounded for abusing said magic…. I missed even that.
It was a nice contrast to what was waiting for me on the other side of the portal. I saw it while they didn’t… Even with the efforts of every coven, this world was still in trouble. The sky was still red… but they didn’t see it.
I knew that was Apythmenos’s doing. soon, the supernatural creatures will be able to tell, because I could also tell that the skies were worsening, but for now I’d have a break.
