Chapter 33

Zayde
Before he shifted, I cast a circle over Atto’s farm… Illegal or not, that was his merchandise, and I’d have to pay for the damages if he went too far.
The remaining 5 ran. They screamed and he chased them around. I thought it would be a good idea to hold a few back, so he could try to gain control. He chased them after he’d already consumed 95 of them…. Those I culled nearly instantly.
“This is going to take a while.” I said with a sigh; I wanted to be done with this part. He’d go on a meditation spirit journey next. He’s gained the power part of this, now he needs the mind. Having another hand around once Yellow is fully finished will be a blessing. My plans are to run the night, and he can do day watch. He’ll almost be like a Gamma, while Typhen would be Beta, well in strength only. He holds no responsibility other than training.
Two of us is double the protection too… especially since I know the church will be coming…
“Get the proud papa a chair.” Chuckled Atto.
The one he turned with Casey still stood at his left as his officer. His uniform was different than the others, a little fancier. I wondered was that Atto’s way of giving a promotion to him. The other side held an officer, as I assume he’d never let his personal favorites down here. I kept it to myself. Knowing Atto’s crazy ass, he’ll find a way somehow to either make it weird or crack a cornball joke. I rolled my eyes in advance.
“Um… master-” Atto cut off Casey.
“You are mortal no more. You may call me father or maker.” He said sitting comfortably. “This chair’s my favorite. You’ll want to buy a set when you take a seat.”
It was just a plastic lawn chair but it had cup holders and foam in the seating….
… I did but I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of knowing that as a fellow old man… I *did* want one.
“It’s good.” I chuckled. A chair wasn’t provided for Casey. He got her to sit at his feet.
“I only ask you indulge this old vampire’s fatherly nature.” He said happily. “With you here, all my children are home tonight… It makes my blood warm.”
“And I have my first son.” I chuckled.
“Yeah look at him go.” Atto laughed as the mortals screamed. He’d fed on most, but I left about 5 live, because he needed to work on taking control of himself… Seeing him run around so frantically trying to catch them was almost comical, though, with Casey’s presence, it reminded me that there should be reverence for the fallen.
He galloped as an 80 foot tall beast, but Casey looked upset.
“…I have…. Many questions.” Said Casey. She shyly looked down.
“Ask away.” Said Atto.
“Why don’t I care?… Why aren’t I crying or begging for this to stop?…. Why is it making me hungry to see their blood?” She asked looking at the ground.
He pet her hair.
“Because you aren’t human anymore. You’ll find that unlike your life, your undeath will make you colder in more ways than you realize.” He said motioning Micael. “Don’t beat yourself up about it either.”
“Yes maker.” She said quietly. He’d commanded that of her, so she would follow it if she wanted to or not.
“I took your human life, but as you age, you will see it was worth it. Sure, if you died mortal you’d likely be in Haven, but down here you get to be with your loved one, and share eternity. You get to reap the fruit of being powerful, faster, objectively more beautiful. You’ll never age, wrinkle nor pimple ever again.”
“Will you turn them too?” She asked.
“No. They have no hearts nor enough blood. When you feed, if you ever get fresh, don’t kill them if you intend on keeping them a meal… His blood is poison now.” He pointed.
“Do they turn if I kill them?” she asked.
“Aye, if you kill them. But if you feed while injured, or they are too far gone, you’ll make a ghoul… or worse… zombies. Those little fuckers are fast, and *they spread faster than the legs of a broke whore*.”
She snorted. He laughed at her surprise.
“You literally said that to be funny.” I said getting up. I’d seen enough. [Finish it.] I snarled.
In the meantime, my apprentice was literally making a fool of himself, unable to catch the remaining 3. Those were smart. They hid while the other two initially ran. I wouldn’t help him though. His sniffing and clawing as destructive as it was, he needs it. I’d prefer he become conscious before the 100th heart.

I yawned. I stretched too, looking, seeing the sun was up but only by a little. With my mate gone, I would stay here so long as nobody called me. The cabin was so nice too.
Aptherraam, go get my storage satchel.” I said waking him up. He shook his fur, and hopped out a window he opened magically. That was something he must have learned from Zayde.
Tinzaa was here too. “I’ll need food too. Tinzaa, fetch a pan and a half kilo beef from the kitchen.” I smiled. “Oh, and 2 raw potatoes as well.” I was in a mood more for dinner than breakfast.
She also left silently, and I got the sheets gathered up. There was a laundry basket provided by the servants, though to be fair with it so far out, I might not see them until later in the day. I went outside after that, and made a fire. They both came back around the same time.
The books were put in the living room, and the hearth was stoked by Aptherraam. Outside, I made my pan fried steak and potato stir fry. I ate while those two hunted. They were having fun it seamed, as I could hear them goofing off out there. It’s a good thing that the castle is far out with all the howling too.
Now that I’d eaten, I read more about the shamanic magic. I found a section on making a magic space. I figured that would be useful, since it sounded like barrier magic. The way it worked was that it indeed made a barrier, with the addition of adding the spirits of the land. They would be bound to the area, and in return for energy it generates, they protected a space.
That would be useful, since I knew the jungle held many lost spirits. All I’d have to do is attract them. Though something like that would undoubtedly bring the church. Doing mass spells that involve that kind of energy is dark in nature. It would be like waving a flag should they come looking.
My phone rang. It was Zayde.
“What’s up?” I asked.
“I was hoping I’d be home by now, but Micael isn’t done yet.” He said as if he were disappointed.
“I assume you know better than I that it’ll take time.” I smiled. He wanted to spend his time with me, not train a greenhorn. I got that, but just as he was busy, eventually I would need to go back to Yellow.
I know the little birds feel better that they’re somewhere safe too… It’s only a matter of time before I get to teach them things. I bet teaching them fireball will be really useful… Any who can cast could really protect the place.
“I trust you’ve eaten right?” He asked,
“I have. I know you called for more than that.” I said hearing him hum.
“I hate to ask, but we’re the leaders of Tower Three until I leave. I need you to meet with the farmer for this month’s food shipment. Jest see to it getting to the loading dock.” He said casually. “Pick who you want to take; I suggest both demons and either Typhen Or Echidnah, NOT both.”
“Alright. Text me the address.” I said, hanging up after saying our goodbyes.
I packed up and made my way back to our room. I figured a change of clothes would be a good idea. This time though… I made sure I packed some potions with me. I figured the smokescreen smash-pots and the fire one would be useful in case the village wanted to turn on each other again.
Or they see me and think I’m a good target. I won’t be alone, but being physically weaker and petite would make me look like easy prey. I would take Echidnah with me as well. It was already proven that Typhen has little patience for people being rude… Maybe she might fair better.
The car was readied, and the servants that would come with me had a delivery truck to load it in. I was to basically be the crop’s bodyguard and manager. I was the one who’d give the money to the farmer, the servants will load and transport it.
Had all the town not caught itself ablaze with a witch hunt, the Omegas would have been trusted, and we would have wired the money. Though now, we had to double check that he was alright, and they didn’t intercept Mr. Metter’s bank account. If it came down to it, he may have to deal with the supernatural banks…
Food can’t really grow on the grounds, so if anything compromises him, my people will starve.
