Boom 3: chapter 106

Zayde
All the royal regalia aside, and family contacted, my mate looked me in the eyes. I couldn’t hide how nervous I was from her, and her posture, all leaned over with her arms crossed, put a frog in my throat. She may not remember directly, but she always stood like that when she knew I was either up to something, or had a hairbrained idea…
I couldn’t speak.
“You wanted to talk to me?” Asked Tiffany. We were still getting preparations ready for the Lord of Time. I didn’t know if he’d come as he was at the party, but I had a feeling that he wouldn’t. To be fair… I hoped he did. I know that flesh puppet contorts him…. I don’t know how but I do.
“Uh…” I staved my words…
“Cat got your tongue master?” Said Aptherraam, adjusting his tie. He *hated* human clothes.
Too bad.
“Really?” I said with a raised brow. “Go help your bonded with preparations.”
“Oh be nice, that was funny.” Snickered Tiffany. “Is this about eggs?”
I kind of froze. “Well… I saw how excited you were.” I mumbled.
“…I must admit, Asanguis offered basically a time skip, but we’ve had enough of those.” She said holding my hand. “But… I wanted to talk to you too.”
“We don’t have to rush.” I said pressing my forehead to hers. I held her in her uncertainty. It was only a moment in her eyes, a flicker of doubt, the smallest whiff that she needed reassurance, and I would give it until my dying breath.
“That isn’t it… I… I want to wait until after all the masters’ children are adults.” She said firmly.
“Why such a specific timing?” I asked.
“Well, we already house mates, and with that comes dedication. Echidna *will* need us when she returns from her whelping cave.” Said Tiffany. “Asanguis will likely come here often, and train the little ones here… and Harmony’s son is the God of Obliteration.”
I understood now.
“You wish to be sure our duties as Dark Witches does not impede our role as parents.” I mumbled. “That’s fair. I doubt any of the lords would allow the destruction of Urth…. Too much has gone into making it Sanctuary, a place of peace.”
“What am I trying to say?” She asked, clinging to my arms. “I want it this way; it’s my instinct. Does that make sense?” She asked.
“It doesn’t, but again, *there is no rush*.” I said firmly. “If we wait a thousand it makes me no difference my dear.” I gave her a reassuring kiss.
I did want children. The beasts’ blood in my veins wished it more than I could put it to words, but if she’s not ready, who am I to say differently? She’s right too. We are not just related to the royal families; we are soldiers too. She could be worried that we could be restationed, or tasked to help rear them.
And I have no issue with that either. Magic is one of my favorite things to teach after all, especially beast magic. Who knows, one could gain an interest, or want additional forms.
“You’re a good man Zayde.” She smiled. “I half expected you to tell me about your blood, as mine is screaming at me that I should just do it already.”
“Theo is wrong.” I said kissing her again, this time on the lips. It was soft and tender. She was usure, but I was not. “You wish undivided attention upon your own brood. There is no wrong in that.”
“That’s it.” She snuggled into me. “Come, let’s go downstairs before his majesty arrives.”
I held her small hand. She was delicate as moth wings, with skin of golden silk. Compared to my gray skin, her rich flesh glowed… May she never feel self-conscious about it.
And she smiled brightly, and led me to my seat like a lost puppy… Our ballroom was empty, except the one. It’s typically stored away since it’s a grand long table we usually reserve for rituals outside the ritual room, or weddings. It only seemed appropriate for a man Asanguis called lord… I still have as of yet to know anything of him, other than a name I have no place saying.
But where were *any* of the guests I’d invited to tea time.
There was a knock on our castle doors. I was hoping it wasn’t the Lord of Time yet… Once he is here, by honor code he must be attended by we coven leaders. Summoning the others would be a tad rude, since they were supposed to already be here to bow to this man.
“Wow, they didn’t use the ritual room teleport.” Said Tiffany, as surprised as I was.
“At least their here.” I said giving a nod to our demons. They were dressed up nicely, but they were to stand behind us. In exchange, they would get raw energy from us, as is custom… Fuck I felt nervous. I never made this much effort to be this formal in my life, or second life.
We left the table that was already filled with meat, salad, and treats of all kind, along with coffee pots, and made our way to the grand wooden doors. Witches lined the walls, bowing as we walked, and remaining so for our royal guests.
There he was, blue skin and all…. My family was *late*. They were supposed to *already* be here, along with Heidi and John!
What gives?!
“Please don’t bow.” He said waving his hand for us to rise. “May I come in?” The Lord of Time asked with a friendly, but fanged smile.
“Of course!” Beamed Tiffany.
“I brought chocolate cake.” The Lord of Time, standing at least 12ft tall, said admittedly sheepishly for such a powerful Old One…He stood there looking down at us, holding a heavily yellow decorated cake that was at least 4 feet tall, and about as wide.
“That looks great.” I took the 4-tiered cake off his hands. The yellow buttercream had a black peacock piped on it, as well as frills and swirls. “This actually looks big enough to share with the whole coven.”
“It is…. Are they not attending?” He asked.
“Oh we thought-” His chuckle took me off guard.
“An old man comes with treats and stories to tell, but you nought have the audience.” He said that kindly, and very patiently.
“Hey Micael!” I shouted with magic, carrying this massive confection. “Gather up everyone, and tell the pargesse to put on more food, oh, and bring out the other tables!” I felt like if I didn’t throw my voice, he wouldn’t have heard me.
“On it!” he shouted from his tower, so I was right.
Inside one more table was already being set up, so I could put it down, but he was a guest. My honor wouldn’t have allowed him to hold this, Old One or not.
He sat in a strange spot… at the long table, the highest rank sits at the head, but he sat at my left. Tiffany would sit at my right then, and Micael would sit next to her, then Casey. I wouldn’t question him; I just rolled with it. It looked a little awkward since he was so large, but I knew that wasn’t his regular height either.
“Thank you for the housewarming gift.” Tiffany smiled.
“Think nothing of it. I absolutely love baking.” He beamed. “*Almost* as much as teatime.”
“Then I hope you like what we made.” I said using magic at the table to fix his plate. “As our guest, I humbly give you a little of all we’ve procured. What would you like sire?” I asked.
“Meat.” He said with a slight, specifically draconic growl. He then cleared his throat. “Sorry, I’m still getting used to being in my own flesh.”
Meat it is.
“….How long have you been in that flesh puppet?” Asked Tiffany.
“Uh… Ziri, how many universe cycles?” He asked nothing?
A small silver ball appeared. It had a left-handed fist inside of an omega symbol etched into it.
\[Alert: Current command states-\] He cut the female voice off that came from his gizmo. That was a computer, like the one Eskaal uses.
“I know what I said little one.” He rolled his eyes… But they were no longer ‘normal’. They looked like burning purple stars in a void black galaxy.
\[>n<\]
“Be good.” He huffed.
\[No.\]
“Ziri.” He crossed his arms. “I won’t let you go to next year’s costume party with that attitude.” He snorted, and glittery dust came out his nose.
\[Alert: Your puppet does not wish for its age to be revealed. I fear you may receive unwarranted harassment.\] said his computer with worry. \[It may not be alive master, but it does have feelings that have formed from years of reclusiveness.\]
“I don’t wish to get contorted as soon as I use it again, and I don’t want to make another.” He huffed. “I’m older than Zuviel and Arviel by fathoms. I am this place’s true guardian, how’s that?” he pointed a silver claw at himself. “I am as linked to that skinsuit as I am the Last Secret.”
….
“That’s a long time sir.” I said quietly. “Is that why you have been… so obscure until now?”
“Well no.” he scratched his chin. “Oh, let me text them to hurry up, and then I’ll start. Go ahead Ziri. Text Gulteer, Heidi, Alteer, and Velimier to hurry up, that I’m already here.”
\[^.^\]
“As sassy as she can get sometimes, I could never change her to be any different.” He held out his hand, and petted his computer. “Through her voice, you hear the only remnant of my old life.”
With his words, they all came, and took seats at our originally mostly empty table. Tables were gathered, and my witches sat. There was a certain scramble to be situated, as this is not done in grand feasts… and I must also admit, entertaining him feels…. Different.
Dangerous.
“Welcome!” Tiffany and I stood, while Aptherraam and Tinzaa bowed with us. “Please, Aptherraam, seat our additional guests.”
He did as he was told, without a single word…
I scented fear from every demon in the room, and the submissive looks that were given, were directed at Time.
