Book 3: Chapter 80
a/n: Next chapter is going to be a Xaxas
Tiffany
Xaxas, Asanguis, Bryson, and their mates were here now in the Horned One’s stead… They sat at the head of the table…. As their true heights now with we coven leaders… Other witches sat at the other long tables in the grand ballroom, however, no one had a fit that a ‘fleshling’ was at the table.
/I’m pretty sure if they did, Uncle Bryson, Aunt Isabelle, or cousin Xaxas will kill them before the other masters do./ said Theo…. I mean… Like she wasn’t wrong…
Also… I must admit it was Really Nice having her as an inner beast…. No longer did I feel the need to grovel like a worm around my own damn family.
/Drama alert./ She said rolling her red serpent eyes….
Alright… it wasn’t like *that*, that’s over dramatic… But it IS nice that the chill of fear is off my shoulders thanks to Theo.
/You’re welcome. To be fair, Asanguis asked me to./ She beamed. Her black iridescent scales looked like glitter in my mind.
“My lady.” Said a servant. They hastily served me and my mate after getting the masters.
It was busy here at Red Diamond, with the servants putting multiple courses on the table. The Princes and their wives had wine, venison, and cake. There was a *rush* to ensure that they were served and content, as it seemed their moods were a tad sour.
I did as well. Xaxas was at my left, and Zayde was at my right. Azuriel, the leader of Blue Diamond was next to him with his wife, while Green Diamond sat across. For the most part, none of us were in order or anything, just with our partners.
And honestly, I had to admit it was nice to sit here in peace without anyone being jealous or petty. I am flesh yes, I will never be molded of Tarteron clay like them, but nobody seemed to care.
Something serious was happening well above my pay-grade that they hadn’t fully expressed, but I appreciated that they came.
“Thank you all for coming.” I said with a light bow… I know it shocked the Red Diamond witches, even Zayde, but I am family… it’s ruder to grovel to them. Why should I, when I’ve been told repeatedly that they don’t like it?
/That’s right! Flex that flesh!/ she shouted shaking her wing… balling her little claws into a fist. /Complain about our blood in front of the master’s sons *now*, you sorry ass pieces of shi-/
“Nah kid, I needed this.” Said Xaxas, absolutely *laughing* at Theo’s comment. Asanguis, Isabelle, and Bryson too!
I felt 1 foot tall!
“The wine is really good too.” Said Harmony, hearing Theo too, but she only smiled, fighting the urge to laugh. “Isn’t this from Yellow Diamond Tiffany?”
“It is.” I beamed. “There’s a distillery for wine, mead, and whiskey on the grounds, but we don’t use all of it. My hope is that Witches’ Brew REALLY takes off. Though, I don’t know if we’ll make any more elvish style beer. Bleh.”
“Why?” Asked Nixxia.
“It uses hops, and when distilled, you essentially get a really gross whisky. My goal is to make alcohol that destroys supernaturals BUT, it tastes GOOD. Absolutely hammered. I want dragons to walk home! “I giggled.
“What are you talking about?!” Yelled Asanguis with a laugh. “What you make is *already* the talk of the town so to speak.”
“It is?” I asked.
“I thought you saw.” Said Zayde. He pulled out his phone. “Echidnah sent this.”
We’d made 2 million dollars already…
“And all of this started off as a happy accident.” I said happily. It took a lot of work to get the permissions, manpower, and crops, but we did it. It’s all over the world, in most major supernatural vendors.
“Kaizen just texted me.” Said Xaxas. “He said mother’s still upset, but he feels like he’s close.”
“What happened?” I asked.
The Three Princes looked at each other, but it was Bryson who said something.
“….Well… After my sons and the Church defeated the Lord of Contradiction, Arviel wanted *just* Tyson’s soul.”
“That’s Horrid!” I yelled. “Sorry to interrupt…. But they’re a set!”
“I know.” Said Bryson. “What’s worse is that those two almost got into a fistfight over my son, and in the process, they got worked up. They both thought the other was going to kill their mate, so they locked them away with their powers…. But I get it. If my enemy was so close to my wildflower, I don’t know…. My magic around her as shit as it is…. It’s better than her being killed for my hesitation.”
“But mother holds trauma to imprisonment.” Hissed Asanguis. “She loved me, a flesh wearing demigod… She did not allow me to be without a mother…. Without her, I would not be a full god.” He looked at the table. “When Lulliba adopted me as her own, I *saw*. We work well and play nice for the sake of the cosmos… but this place should rightly be leveled for her treatment.”
I was quiet. Xaxas added to it.
“It’s all the vows of blood word brother. If not for them making oaths to outright *end* the war, we three would be riding serpents right now. Urth would be *long* gone.” scoffed Xaxas. “And what’s even worse is that mother was imprisoned before. She didn’t care it was for her protection. Father put her in a bubble of his magic, but it hurt her feelings Bryson… Their words held no sway, and when it was over, mother’s sterling silver skin became tarnished in her sorrow.”
“She felt as an object, a concubine.” Said Asanguis with a hiss. “Who could blame her…. How long was she imprisoned, only for father to do it to her too, however short?”
“Now Kaizen and Tyson mean to earn themselves a wish, but I’d have given it for free.” Said Xaxas. “But it must be said…. Father’s magic is the cold void of endless darkness. All her greatest fears were imposed on her by her own mate, for safety or not…”
He looked ashamed, but I could guess that she didn’t want to talk to any of her sons either…
“I didn’t realize….” Said Bryson, cutting into his venison. “I know they’ll find a way to help resolve this.”
“Me and you have wives who were never tarnished with poor treatment.” Said Xaxas. “Initially, I didn’t understand either. I saw it as father protecting her …. But I know better. He did too.”
“I knew the moment I heard that this would be an issue.” Said Asanguis hissing again, and his wife put her hand on his. Serpents only hiss when they’re upset, and I interrupted…
Something even Gulteer wouldn’t do, but I knew none of them would mind… They may be Yolteir, but *I* hold Nox’s blood through Harmony…
“Is there anything I can do to help?” I asked.
“Actually… yes…” Xaxas scratched his chin. “Kaizen needs a taste of aid. Mother does not wish to see *us* but…. I know silvervine root, burned as incense will prove useful to him.”
“I know where to get some, but it only grows in Troll caves.” I mumbled.
The sterling silver vines grow grape sized fruit that isn’t edible for most, since most can’t digest metal…. BUT…. Because they are magic, the fruit when sliced paper thin burn, smelling like fresh picked roses, and the flowers smell like lilac….. It’s not widely known, but with a fistful burned in her realm, it will *help*.
“It also grows in the In-Between.” Said Xaxas. “The vines there are higher quality, but we won’t help you.”
“That will make the incense burn sweeter, that there is *effort* given to find them.” Said Asanguis. “Because right now she’s as tarnished as corroded silver.” He looked up.
“Then I will do my best to aid Lord Kaizen.” I said standing. “Send me out. I know this body is ready enough.”
“I’ll do it.” Said Bryson. He snapped his fingers. Indeed….the other side of that portal held a mighty troll… at least 30 feet tall, with a club just as long.
Trolls *don’t* get that big…. Giants have earthen skin… yet there it stomped, blue as a blueberry. Killing a troll This big, with how fast they can regenerate won’t be easy.
“Wow…. and I did it right 1st try…. That’ll never happen again.” He mumbled.
“Good job.” Said Xaxas. “Now all she has to do is figure out how to either fight or sneak past the Father of Trolls.”
*well That title wasn’t concerning.*
/Nope not at all./ Giggled Theo.
“Don’t fight that damn thing. It’ll have more combat experience.” Warned Bryson, giving a worried look to his mate.
I was hugged by Aunt Isabelle…. My mother’s sister was from her part of the table to me in an instant. “We’ll be watching right here at the table, so please, if you need help, we can help.”
“I’ll be safe.” I hugged her back. She’s warm, being a mammal…. I think of all the things I’ll miss, making my own body heat is one of them.
