Chapter 51
Eclipse
I was sleeping peacefully but slowly, terror creeped down my spine. It grabbed hold of me, causing me to want to wake up. I open my eyes to see Alpha staring into the darkness with his amber yellow eyes. He was looking at me with a concerned expression on his face. It was really early, and I had wondered how long he was asleep before he decided to watch me like that.
He stroked my hair and mumbled a small sorry. I decided that I wasn’t going back to bed, so I went downstairs with my book that I still hadn’t finished. Alpha got some things and came down with me. I poured us both some coffee, and began reading. Alpha sat there watching TV while on his laptop, doing paperwork.
Soon, everyone was getting ready for the shift change, and they all seemed alert when they noticed Alpha in pajama pants typing away incredibly fast with a stern look on his face. I didn’t bother to see who the warriors were specifically, the Detective in my book found a key clue that might clear his brother of the crime!
I noticed that all the pups were in their school clothes, eating breakfast and their parents talking on the phone. I looked back to my book to get surprised by all the pups invading my personal space, but not Alpha’s. I didn’t mind, but it almost made me drop my novel and their parents scolded them for jumping on me. They were no older than 6 or 7 and they were excited to tell me that they were going to race today with the bigger pups.
They apologized profusely and clocked in, shooing away their kids who didn’t realize what they had done. I didn’t care, but Alpha seemed uncomfortable. He adjusted his posture from bored and resting, to calculating and alert. The parents had left, leaving just a few warriors getting their reports ready before they leave, and the ones who were clocking in were getting briefed.
All of a sudden, he took my book. “Alpha?” I questioned surprised; I didn’t even remember what page I was on. I tried to reach for it, but he yanked his hand back. His eyes flashed red and let out a loud possessive growl, making me flinch and scramble away from him to the end of the couch.
“Take it back, babygirl.” He said with a smirk. I didn’t get it. He just takes my book, then growls at me… then he’s amused he scared me? …What game is he playing, because I don’t like it. I think to myself. Shimmer was agitated, saying that he was being a bully and I should growl back at him.
“It’s MY book" he rumbled again, and I just gave up. I threw my hands up in defeat. Everyone was watching us… Warriors looked with crossed arms, saying nothing. It was as if everyone had become upset that I existed… Shimmer was mad at me that I didn’t at least bite him, but I couldn’t do that. What if he bit me back?
He glared at me, daring me to come any closer, and I figured I would just leave and go to the dining room with my coffee; if he wanted it, he could have it, I thought. I went to drink my coffee, and he snatched it and began to sip it, reading my book before I could. “What the hell?!” I yell at him agitated.
I couldn’t be in the dining room in peace… so I went back to my original spot. He chuckled and kicked me off the couch with one swift bat of his hand.
Why was he expressing his dominance over me… did I disrespect him?
“Be dominant.” He growled lowly, warranting more confusion and now it was slowly being replaced with fear. He sighed in disappointment. “Babygirl growl at me, slap me, Bite me, Anything. You’re My Luna. Be the Luna."
Everyone still watched us closely. He had challenged me, and I was supposed to defend it. But HOW?! He was twice my size, strong enough to end me on a whim, and I’m supposed to challenge him back? I grunt in frustration. He looked at me with anticipation.
I got up off the floor on shaky legs and looked him in his eyes. Just his look was intimidating, but I couldn’t just let him bully me either.
I was scared, but let out a small growl at him. It was all I could do, he was so imposing just sitting there.
“Lady Moon….” He complained. He let out a deafening snarl, making me jump back in submission. “Calm down and give it a try.” He said calmly.
I looked down at the floor, and he snorted air out his nose.
“What will you do If I was another she wolf? Would you timidly submit in silence, allowing them to reach beyond their station?” He growled like he did the first time, and the others growled with him. “Snarl back.” He said encouragingly… but I held in a whine.
He looked at me patiently, and then he started to take pages out the back ripping them slowly.
I growled…. But compared to him it sounded like a pup…
“There you go… but you can do better than that.” He had Detective Shamrock Homes hostage and I NEED to see the end.
I let out a bigger growl.
“I guess that’s better? …. Gods.” he facepalmed. He opened the book in half and was about to rip it. I growled at him as loud as I could. I jumped on him without thinking and I started slapping his muscular chest, and I yanked the book out his hand.
He began laughing, and kissed me roughly on the forehead. “You’re too nice babygirl. No matter how small you are, all respect and bend the knee to the Luna with her kindness and grace." He ruffled my hair with a smile, and I gave him another growl. He'd made Shimmer angry that he treated us so oddly.
And she bit him as hard as she could on his exposed peck.
He laughed with his fangs out, and he roughly kissed me on the top of the head. “That’s my babygirl. Come on.” He said getting up, closing his laptop. He handed it to a Warrior, and took me outside.
I didn’t know what he was up to until he shifted, ripping out his clothes. He howled loud enough to rattle the windows, and shook his fur. He was tossed the next book in the series by Beta, catching it midair with a snap of his teeth.
[since Shamrock motivates you, I’m going to rip them all to shreds unless you claim them as yours.] he said confidently.
“…. Alpha.” I said silently angry, but he shook his massive head.
[Above all, the greatest rule an Alpha holds to his heart is that we Must not show Weakness…. You show that passively by your size…. You’re a small wolf and a smaller woman.] He chuckled, but I could guess that he probably upset his wolf. Shimmer growled at him in my head, upset too. He sighed. [Babygirl, I want you to be Strong. You need to be stronger than you are now… All the wolves in the pack look to us. We are a pair… so come on. Shift.] he barked.
I shifted, taking my time until he charged me with his lips curled into a snarl that made me change instantly. He chased me with my book in his mouth while I squealed! He wasn’t being fair, and I didn’t know what to do!
[Turn around and snap at me!] he snarled. [I am not Alpha right now, I’m a disrespectful pup!] he cackled. He leaped over me, making me change direction. It seemed he wanted me to stay in the backyard.
/let me take over!/ growled my wolf, and even though she was terrified, she whipped around and we had a tug-o-war match over my book.
]That’s more like it!] he laughed, letting me win. Shimmer shook the book with all her might in the high of ‘winning’ back what was mine… and when I shifted, I sighed…. It was covered in drool and ripped to shreds, but I think if I really worked at it, that I could fix it.
“Lady damnit…” I grumbled.
“Sorry… I got carried away. I hope you took my lesson to heart.” He poked me gently in the chest. “I saw those pups disrespecting you so freely. They didn’t know any better, but I couldn’t just sit there and let you think that was ok.”
“I get that but …. Can you give me a warning the next time you train me then?” I asked seeing his small frown grow a bit.
“What’s the point then? The fear and danger may not be real, but with it, you probably pushed yourself harder than you originally would have if you thought it was safe.” He said wrapping an arm around me. I wanted a better explanation, but he was right…
