Chapter 116
Two weeks later
Connor
Now was my time to shine. My mate had made cinnamon rolls and told me not to touch them, but I wanted at least one. As my wolf, I put my paws on the counter, and snagged one. /HOT HOT HOT/ I screamed in a common link, running out the door.
“Connor you LITTLE SHIT.” She screamed, throwing something at me. I didn’t know what it was, I was all the way at the bottom of the hill before she could get me.
Who were they for?
The King.
All of them.
It was just too unfair to leave un-justiced. The frosting oozed on my fur, dripping onto the ground, still steaming hot. I chomped it down, not caring that my ‘hot hot hot’ mind link was freaking out anyone in range. The moon on my head also filled in. The crescent part stayed white, but the rest was the pattern of the sun. I had been blessed by the Lord of Light and the Pale Lady. Wolves looked at me questioningly, but I didn’t care.
/…. You have a problem./ Growled my wolf.
/And I have no intention of fixing it./ I retorted. He couldn’t say anything else, because he too, loved our mate’s cooking.
I smelled grandfather on the wind, meaning he was in the territory, along with another scent. Cow. Jerold. Last time they were together, they smashed up grandma’s garden. We didn’t have much of a yard at the packhouse compared to their castle, so I hoped they wouldn’t spar again.
I saw their cars right in front of the other and my heart sank a little. I ran back up, only to be assaulted by my mate with a newspaper. I shifted, and I growled running away. “Nancy I only took ONE.” I whined, making my way into the kitchen and taking one more lava hot pastry.
“CONNOR!!” she screamed “Those are for the King and Queen!” She hissed, slapping me on the ass. It didn’t hurt, but she needed to stop….
“OOoo, I smell cinibuns!” Yelled Noah, who ignored my harsh beating I didn’t feel, only to get slapped himself.
“No!” She growled. It was at this point that I lost it. I burst into tears laughing and she glared at me menacingly. “If you are not King Ashital, or Queen Gwyneth, paws OFF.” She commanded. “Me and Luna worked hard on this.” There was a bell timer that went off, and she went to get cakes out the oven.
I kind of felt bad, “Sorry Nanners….” I said, scratching the back of my neck.
“Don’t ‘Nanners’ me you big pup! Now help me make some more, and IF I feel like it, you two just MIGHT get one.” She said with a smirk.
I got some more flower and Noah got the spices. This time, it would have pecans on top, and a homemade glaze. They went into the oven, and I was given a spoon and the bowl to lick. She made me share with Noah, to my chagrin, but it was worth it.
“Grandma!” Screamed Heidi, followed by the small pups, then my brother.
The little ones scampered down the stairs like a thundering heard of buffalo, and they all got hugs and kisses. Grandfather stood silently and patiently, waiting for everything to die down. He looked at me questioningly, but otherwise didn’t say anything.
Then I realized I was naked in front of everyone.
“Nice buns.” Commented Jerold, who held a pair of shorts, tossing them to me.
“Hands off, she only made them for grandfather and gram-gram.” I said with a small smile.
“Mmm their so good!” yelled Noah, who took the opportunity to steal one in the commotion.
“Lady damnit.” She complained, and quickly wrapped 8 in parchment and put them in 2 cute little bags. She gave them to gram-gram who shared with the pups and enjoyed them.
“I do not eat baked goods little one. However, you seem to have gone through a great deal of trouble defending them.” He said, taking it out the wrapper, and pealing a small bit off, and handing the rest to Caleb. He didn’t seem to like it, because it was probably too sweet. He only ate meat and drank water, so I could only assume so.
Caleb didn’t try any, he simply gave all of it to Mini, who happily ate. It was adorable... until my son stole one from her and quickly ran off before she could do anything about it. He handed it to Ginger, Marcy’s pup, and proceeded to fight with his cousin. I had never seen Caleb fight anyone, but the boy could scrap. They ended up both crying after they bit each other too hard. It reminded me of when I was a pup with my brother. He was much older, and never let me win, but we wrestled to no end. I was the only one that had any chance of going toe to toe with him after I turned about 50.
There were laughs about the room as we sat watching TV and just talking, enjoying each other’s company. I was happy that his stern, mean ass found a mate. The pack seemed more alive with Eclipse around. She tamed his black heart with her sweet nature, and he learned to have compassion.
I worried for the future though, because this generation would have no choice but to deal with world ending creatures of old, left to us by our ancestors. My grandfather, Jerold, Sky, almost all of them were the first of their kinds, with abilities that were legendary. These mythical creatures, whom were scary bedtime stories were not dead, but temporarily defeated. They would wake soon, Jerold said so himself, and he was there when it happened…
But for now, there was peace. For now, our true powers were tamed, and our children were young and happy. I picked up my son, and Kaiden got his, to dry their crocodile tears. They were fat ones, but they both had already healed. They were boys, with red eyed ancient wolves. They would grow to be the next Alphas and Betas of this region, my nieces too.
To sooth their crying I hummed the song I heard from the Pale Lady herself. In all her ever-changing light, I knew that it may be important later. There was a reason why she taught it too me. I was joined by Luna, my brother and my sister. The temperamental kindergarteners all quieted, looking to us.
“I have not heard that since I was a pup… when I grew skin.” Said grandfather, who growled lowly, as if he were remembering. “There are words. He said finally.” He cleared his throat, and his deep voice seemed to carry through the house, vibrating the windows. I wondered did the pack hear.
“The snow may be cold,
The wind may blow down,
Do not fear the darkness, for I will come soon.
As the Sun Rises from East to West
I love you, and I will protect.
For even in the darkest nights, I am here.
So, pray to the Lady, and she will come.
For tis her duty to her children.”
He finished, and he seemed to look almost sad. There was a somberness to his song, but I didn’t ask why. He picked up Isabelle, and sat on the couch with them, so the pups could watch cartoons with their grandparents. They seemed content enough, and my heart was full of pride that I was blessed enough to see that my nephews where like me and my brother.
I got tag teamed by Isabelle, Michelle, and little Mini. They bit the hell out my ankles, almost as if they heard that I left them out. They would be leaders too, or at least I knew in my heart that they would be mated to such.
“Guys cut it out, I submit!” I yelped. Damnit I was trying to be sentimental! I would remember this day, and all the others… and probably tell them of the scars they put on their uncle when they got older. There was no need to worry for the future, they proved that to me now.
I went outside, and the wind picked up, and I was followed by my brother.
“You know, I can’t read your mind, but I can tell something is bothering you.” He said, passing me a beer.
“Kaiden, I had a dream last night.” I said, popping the top and taking a sip.
“Oh? Spill it moon man.” He said with a small frown, also opening and sipping his.
“I dreamed that one day, they were all grown up.” I say somberly. It had been on my mind the whole day.
“Connor…. They can’t stay pups forever.” He complained.
“Look at Heidi. Soon she’s going to be mated to John, and they’ll most likely live in Pinnsylvania, only visiting from LapisMoon on holidays…” He sighed.
“Jason will be a man soon… and I don’t know if he will accept Beta.” I said casually.
“Then he’ll probably just be at LemonMoon…. I doubt if he’ll go far brother. The boy is as silly as you are, he probably won’t like the Alpha title.” He punched my shoulder.
“I’ll drink to that.” I say, punching him back a little harder. He growled at me, and I ignored him, listening to the pups attack Jerold in the living room.
----End----
I hope you guys liked it!
I had so many ideas that never got a chance to shine! The next sequels will be out soon, if not tonight! I love you guys, and thank you so much for reading. This by FAR is not the last you will see of Kaiden.
Oh, and everything else are extra chapters! Everything, chapters 1 to 115 is the original book. I did not change much, because I didn’t want to ruin the flow. I did add some things, like details, extended scenes and such, but the original events, regardless of if I dislike them now, were Not changed.
