Chapter 107
Eclipse
“Daddy I don’t wanna go!” Screamed what sounded like Michelle. Her eyes were red, and Eric seemed to be having a hard time holding her while she bawled her eyes out. “I wanna stay with you!” She screamed. He chuckled.
“You sound like your uncle.” He said with a small smile, and everyone looked to him because we all wanted to hear. There were many new members on Charred side these days, and they didn’t know that Shelly raised her brothers with her mate.
“Tell us a story daddy.” Said Kaiden sarcastically, and I facepalmed.
Connor glared at Eric with a stare so sharp it could cut steel, but he only laughed.
“No Uncle Kaiden get your own!” She squealed, squeezing his neck and making him sit on the couch. He played it off, but the adults knew she was going to choke him out like that. “Was Uncle really a crybaby?” She said, wiping her tears away.
Shelly intervened in the nick of time, and Eric cleared his throat. Now that it was free from his strong pup… Michelle would Definitely be a Luna one day…
“Yes, your big Ol’ Uncle Connor was quite the crybaby too. It took him a week to go on his own, and I had to put Kaiden in time out nearly every day because he would get into fights with the teachers, or sneak out of class. I had to stop picking up Connor from school to get Alpha to stay in it.” He mumbled the last part. “When your Uncle Connor was a pup, Alpha was getting out of Warrior School. Then, when they got old enough to fight each other, they would be too mean, and I would put them both in time out.” He said, letting her ride on his shoulders. That had to be tough, seeing as how he didn’t have any powers.
“Really daddy? You were that strong?!” She yelled inquisitively.
“Yes Michi-bear, but school is fun. Those two were just bad.” He lied with a smirk, and she gasped.
“Can we play tag at school?” Asked Isabelle.
“Yes, but not right away.” I said, and we all agreed to trail each other in the car while Heidi drove my car instead of flying. She might have to use one soon if she ever has to be around humans.
“Alright, the old man’s lost it, let’s go.” Said Kaiden shaking his head. He got the keys off the wall and picked up the pups so he could put them in the car. I got their backpacks.
The ride seemed to move in fast forward, but it was otherwise peaceful. “Caleb don’t cry lil guy, you won’t be gone for a long time.” Said Kaiden. He caught it first, but I smelled his distress right after he said it.
Caleb sniffled in the back, and got hugged by his big sister. He was a little younger than the rest of them by 6 months, but I wanted them all to go to school at the same time. That way, they would have similar, or the same classes as they grew up. The goal was to forge a strong littermate bond with all the pups… so that they wouldn’t kill each other later. As much as I love Caleb, even my little Isabelle is going to be strong enough to level the packhouse in the future.
“…. What if no one likes me? I am different.” He said with concern. He was different, with the mindset and mannerisms of the King, but he was still in the body of a 4 and a half year old.
“Caleb… everyone you already play with are in your class…. So they already like you.” Chuckled Kaiden, pulling into his parking spot. We arrived at the elementary school, which was just down the street of the middle and high school. It looked as I remembered. Clean, brick and square. The pillars seemed to have been painted white, as they looked almost new now, but it was all there like from my memory.
“I love you both, and you both have good hearts. You’ll be fine.” I said gently. We had arrived, so it was time to see them off. I hated to let them go…. Even if it was just for a little while. I held Caleb’s hand, while Kaiden carried Isabelle. Caleb didn’t like being picked up, but he squeezed my hand hard enough that it actually hurt a little. He dug his small nails into me, clinging to me as if he’d never see me again, and when we got to his class, he didn’t want to let go.
“Caleb! Isabelle, over here!” Shouted Ginger, Marcy’s daughter. He smiled and slowly let go, so he could be with his cousins and friends.
“Good morning Alpha and Luna.” Bowed Mrs. Flowers. She was my elementary teacher when I grew up, and Kaiden’s too. She even taught Shelly. She looked no older than 35, but she was well over 600 from me being …. Well nosy. I was curious. I looked it up in the MoonPack System… Which was a Little cheeky.
We both gave her a nod, and Kaiden cleared his throat. “Morning Mrs. Flowers, I hope today is treating you well…. I’m sorry my little gremlins are all in your class together.” Chuckled Kaiden. Connor and Shelly both shot him a glare.
“Don’t call my little angel a gremlin, you brat.” She warned.
“Yeah,” Chimed in Connor. We both laughed a little.
We made our old teacher nervous, as she wasn’t used to being around us, and had no idea that we weren’t serious.
“See look, your ugly mug is scaring poor Mrs. Flowers, what’d she ever do to you?” Said Connor with a smirk.
“People think we’re twins.” Countered Kaiden.
“Anyway,” interrupted Shelly, “If having all of them in the same class is too much for you, please call us, and maybe we can let you have Warrior Commander Marcy Bennet or Warrior Bennet to assist you. Jason and Caleb are already strong enough to break fingers, but they don’t know it yet.” She said seriously.
“I remember how I handled all of you, so I think I should be fine.” She said politely.
She had watched all of us grow up, and it’s ironic almost. Kaiden had to wait for me to be born… yet the entire time I was right under his nose. Due to his curse, he had to wait so long…
And by chance, even when I Was born, we didn’t cross paths until I was an adult.
I grew up in this pack, and we had almost all the same teachers, lived in the same town, and frequented similar shops. He never knew because I carried the scent of an Omega, so basically none.
And I always avoided him out of fear…
Yet here we are, at a place we’d been to almost every weekday, yet not together, until we came with our children.
We thanked her for her time, and slowly I left my pups with the woman who taught me as a pup. And just like on my first day of school, I cried, though, this time it was because my pups were already growing up before my eyes.
“It’ll be alright babygirl.” Said Kaiden. “We have a week off from the royal duties, and there aren’t any council meetings anytime soon. I’ll make lunch.” He offered.
I wiped my eyes. “We can open the office a little late too.”
He put his hand on my thigh. “I’ll text Connor and Shelly.”
I hated that I was being a baby about this… they were grown up before my eyes. But when we got to the packhouse, I wiped away my tears…
I was Luna. Everyone understood how I felt, as there were many who’d taken their first pup to school the first time, but I was their motivation…
Marcy, our Warrior Commander cried like a small pup who lost their ice cream though.
“Ginger is so shy! What if they make fun of her?!” She sobbed into Warrior Bennet’s uniform.
“….Marcy dear… I don’t think that would happen. Beta’s son is her best friend.” He said shaking his head. “Morning Alpha, Luna.” He waved.
“You too.” Said Kaiden. “My son thought no one would like him.” He said shaking his head. “Littermates stick together. They’ll watch out for her Marz… I know… Let’s light up the grill. When the pups get back, they’re going to have BBQ meat for dinner.”
“I can make coleslaw!” I encouraged.
“I know a good recipe for mac and cheese.” Said Marcy.
“See that’s the spirit. Y’all are acting like this is the last day we’ll see them.” Kaiden shot Connor a sharp glare. He was wiping tears while Nancy consoled him.
“I had something in my eyes!” He growled as he walked through the door.
“Mmhm. Help me get some wood.” Kaiden chuckled.
“I don’t know Alpha. That sounds like a Real Easy… Real LAZY Joke’s in there somewhere….” He giggled. The Warriors got a good laugh too.
“Oh Lady Damnit.” Alpha facepalmed.
