Book 2 Chapter 48
Heidi
I woke up from a dream that I couldn’t remember, but my small rat licked my hand. It seemed as if it were trying to comfort me, and I did feel a little better. “Thank you Rahrraam, oh, I didn’t ask, but do you like it? It’s a little odd.” I asked and he seemed to nod.
It bit John. “Ow! You little fuck I swear to the Lady Heidi if it bites me again I’m turning that little punk bitch to dust!” He screamed, being bit until he got out the bed snarling, chasing my ‘gift’ around the room.
It squeaked, jumping on me, then wiggling underneath me. “John be nice… it’s 4:15. you have to get ready!” He looked at the clock and just threw on clothes this time, while I was given a bit of a day off… I had asked to find out more about this vision, but I made sure not to give details in case it was nothing... I couldn’t help John right now, but I could stop his adopted sister…
If Alpha or Luna found out she was doing something, they would just kill her. I could only guess that maybe she could feel I was a dark witch? I threw on a black pocketed cloak and got my backpack that held my spells, because I would be using my broom for the first time in a while. I could use the pack cars, but I could see better where I was going high up. I’d never been to the prison here before.
No one stopped me, as John had already left, and Garnet was fine running below me as long as I kept the speed down to a minimum. Why was I even doing this?
She is just an ass Heidi. Let her die. Growled my wolf, who I had never heard be so vicious before.
She is, but the others shouldn’t have to get hurt being roped in with her. I chastised, but she refused to back down on this. No! You were nice to her, and she was given so many chances. The other girls were warned already! If she dies, it is because she deserved it…. Our mate will be sad, but it will be ok. She whined.
My rat bit me hard! “Ow! Stop biting!” I yelled, pulling him from out my pocket, and then it dawned on me.
He had to have been hungry. I almost lost control of my broom, and it caused me to land a little sooner than I wanted, but I could see the prison… And Jesse on her way to work. I took a deep breath.
“Stop!” I yelled, and Garnet was right behind me fully shifted, but said nothing. My Rat also jumped off me, and stood in front of me.
“No, I’m headed to work.” She growled, and continued walking, until Garnet leaped in front of her.
Your Luna has commanded you. He snarled in a common link that made her hold her ears.
“Fuck… what do you want half breed?” She said not hiding her hatred for me.
“I don’t get it. Luna gave you a chance to live in the pack…. Your dad came Begging her to let you transfer… and you still act the same?” I almost yelled, but I sounded like Luna Aemi… or mom.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She said faking innocence, but she squealed loud enough to make me jump. Rahrraam was on her shirt. My rat bit her on the shoulder, crawling all over her and getting into her pockets while she screamed. She flailed around, “Get it out! Get it Away from Me!” She shrieked, but he continued. It was like he was looking for something. He even got in her hair.
A key fell from her pocket. It was large, rusted, and old. I swear it almost had a dull red glow to it…
Stealing from work? Linked Garnet, and he howled for warriors. She shifted, but he had her pinned to the ground before she could get three steps. She had tried to run, but it was no use for her. She had become surrounded by Warriors in moments…. I could only guess that they all were already following me.
“Let me go!” She screamed but the Warriors chuckled.
“Alpha’s gonna be so pissed when he sees his kid sister in the pokey.” Said one, shifting back.
“Lay off the kid, he’s got a good heart.” Said another, who was a bigger, black wolf. He wore a badge around his neck, meaning that he held a high rank… though I didn’t know what. I wasn’t familiar with it.
“Well, he’s gonna have to harden it. I recognize that… She stole from Alpha.” Grumbled Garnet, making Jesse walk to the packhouse. The others growled at her, and she looked scared. As bad as it sounds… I didn’t have any pity for her. She had no right to take anything from Alpha, especially after they gave her another chance to stay in the pack.
“Rahrraam, come back to my pocket please.” I asked, and he came understanding me perfectly jumping into my hands… I could only guess that the Horned One made this rat smart. It really did help me. “Oh, and thank you.” I smiled, and he bowed before zipping into my shirt, and climbed into my cloak pocket… Lady that felt really weird.
“Is that a witch’s familiar?” Asked the warrior with the badge, and I shook my head.
“He was a gift from my patron… though I guess that’s what he meant by a gift…” I said shyly, getting on my broom and flying above the warriors for a second. I thought it would be best to get John first… because even though she didn’t deserve it, that was his adopted sister.
He was training so hard with Warrior Shikara…. He could take her on without any effort now. I couldn’t believe I saw him flip her. She didn’t seem like the kind of person to let anyone do anything.
“I wish your father would have seen that.” I heard her say before I nearly crash landed.
“John! You need to come quick-” I yelled but I got cut off.
“Let me guess…. Jesse did something.” Said John with his arms crossed.
“She stole a key from the prison…it looked ancient.” I said quietly and he looked at my broom.
“Then let the dog die.” Snarled Warrior Shikara.
“No! Wrong or not, I know my parents won’t judge her fairly because they don’t like her… I need to get there before they sentence her… I hate to say this… but can you give me a ride?’ He asked sheepishly.
“I’ll go as slow as I can.” It was the first time I’d ever seen fear in his eyes like that. But I nodded, letting him sit in the back, and hold onto me.
I could only go about 25 with him on, but it was still faster, because I didn’t have to follow roads or worry about traffic… but he whined like a wolf.
“I think I’m going to puke my guts, go lower.” He asked politely. He was worried because he didn’t want to fall…. We were about 50 feet up, but he also didn’t want to show that I could feel Terracotta through our bond. He was an elemental wolf of earth… so being in the sky practically had him in perpetual vertigo and John was no better. Lady it even made me feel a little sick.
He stumbled when he got off, but we both ran up the stairs once we landed. I tried my best to play off the overwhelmingly powerful aura of Alpha Ron. He was fuming mad, which made the air thick.
Jesse was cuffed, sitting in a chair across from Alpha as he glared at her with the eyes of his wolf…. she was quiet as a mouse. Xavier was also in cuffs, sitting next to her silently. He looked unafraid but slightly bruised… Since there were so many Warriors with Garnet… he must have tried to take her, but failed. I hated to admit it to myself, but the only one I felt bad about was him.
“Father, I must know details before I say anything more. Anything she has said is not worth her life... I have come to make sure your judgement is fair.” Said John glaring at her.
“It is more than what she said. It is what she does. She was caught with this.” He put the key on the table. “This goes to the cells in the basement, where we keep The Beast Prince…. This came from My office in Lapis Correctional... and this.” He put a gun on the table. “She was planning on running away after using this.”
“Alpha…. I only saw she was in cuffs… I didn’t know this was why…” Said Xavier, and he looked at the floor. “Was that for Heidi?”
“That was in case it didn’t want to listen!” She shouted, but Alpha scoffed.
“He Cannot Die, you Clueless pup! A Gun would not scare him.” He growled.
“You don’t know how to use that either… but Jess… I don’t understand why you would do something like This.” Said John with crossed arms.
“She’s not who she says she is! I know it!” She screamed defensively, but John shook his head.
“She is, you just don’t like her. She isn’t good enough because she isn’t like you, and even then you wouldn’t like that either. You hate her because you want what she has, and you feel like she took your life from you, But the problem with that is it was false from the start.” She growled at her brother, getting growls from everyone else in the room.
“Everything changed. I Hate It here. I wish things were the way it was. You, me, mom, and dad… not her! Here I’m a rankless packwolf, working a shit job with commoners beneath me. She doesn’t deserve her rank! She’s just a mut!” She snarled, though Alpha had to stop Luna from slapping her… as bad as it sounds… I kind of wish he hadn’t. My rat poked his head out my pocket, but I quickly shoved him down before he could do anything….
“Jess that life was a lie… one to keep John safe. One to justify abandoning my responsibilities… One where even for a moment I could be a normal wolf. Were You could be normal… not a Shadow. It’s not a bad life, but I wanted you to have the option I was never given.” Xavier said quietly.
