Chapter 117

A/N: Here are some additional adventures!
Eclipse
I sat in the coffee shop with Eric, Zeke, and my parents. It seemed today was Omega’s day out, as many of the patrons who sat in today were. I was still a Kappa, one rank above them in strength, but no one minded that I attended this impromptu event.
“Clippy, can you pass the cream dear.” Said mom. Her smile was so warm, that I didn’t complain…. I was lucky to still have parents, especially after what happened to my home pack.
“Sure mom.” I beamed. I still hated the nickname… but I wouldn’t be a brat about it.
The kids were at school, and Alpha would pick them up and we’d all meet up here. I missed that the King and Queen had to leave for emergency business… but they were protecting us.
“Damn, I’m out of bulk sugar.” Grumbled Zeke.
“I could bring some back from the packhouse.” Offered Eric.
“So long as it isn’t All of it or something.” He said with a smile.
He got up and left, but when he did, everyone seemed to crowd me.
“So, how’s the packhouse?” Asked Zeke.
“It’s good. The pups are turning out well.” I said vaguely.
“I know that! I mean are you happy Clippy.” Said Zeke with a warm smile. “You don’t look half ready to bolt out the door anymore.”
“Oh… I’m used to him now.” I said sipping his house blend of tea… It was some kind of imported herbs with Earl Gray as its base. It was Very soothing, and I knew by the way he was making more, and black without cream and sugar, that one was meant for Kaiden.
“I can’t lie, you had me worried at first.” Said Zeke.
“Us too.” Said dad. “But you should have seen him when she was hurt… He’s her true mate Ezikiel.”
“At any rate I see his car, and his tea’s ready. My mate said something about him making an example out of one of the inmates today.”
Dad was quiet a moment. “I mean… I Saw the example….”
“He removed the spine of a Rogue today… bare hands.” Said mom. “I’d never seen him so upset, but I don’t understand wolf’s speech, so I have no idea what the Rogue said.
“To be honest, I don’t either.” Said dad.
“Afternoon guys.” He waved before coming in. I think he did that so as not to startle anyone. They didn’t have the same level of hearing….
“What did he say to get you so worked up?” I asked, getting a kiss on the cheek.
“What matters is that he can’t exactly do what he said in the incinerator.” Said Kaiden. My mate came in with not only our pups, but Connor’s and Shelly’s too. He was Clean, calm, and scented like bodywash. He must have taken a shower before getting the kids.
The other Omegas gingerly waved back while Zeke had some ice cream for the pups, and Heidi flew in on her broom. She cherished gram-gram’s gift, opting to use it nearly every day. She landed safely without issue, but tomorrow was supposed to be really windy.
“No more loops.” Said Kaiden sternly.
“Ok dad…” She complained.
“He’s right. Nobody wants you crashing.” I said handing her her favorite, pistachio.
“I don’t know why… but I almost felt called to do it.” She mumbled.
“Then it could be your instincts Peppercorn.” Said Kaiden softly.
“Maybe… I don’t know much about magic after all. I’ll ask grandma later.” She said happily.
The truth of that was that I knew the Queen’s knowledge of magic was vast compared to us, but still limited. She couldn’t cast magic, though she combed through beginner books, made a whole curriculum, and trained my little girl without the help of the other Queens.
In their snobbish snubbed nosed Lies, they thought it best not to teach a half witch anything. They claimed it was because they didn’t want their secrets out, but the reality of it was that they didn’t think Heidi could do it.
I pray to the lady that my little girl rivals the royal court that rejected her… and find peace from those who gave her so many scars.
“Mom?” Asked Heidi.
“Oh, nothing.” I said sipping my tea. “Just getting used to my new glasses.” I half lied.
I wished I wouldn’t need these… but I wasn’t the only one who needed them. Many Omegas and low ranked wolves needed glasses for reading or everyday life like me, but it didn’t matter. What did was that I didn’t like the prodding gossip… but I knew why they asked in private.
Eric is a really good friend of theirs, but he is still Gamma’s mate. I doubt they thought he would go back to her and make drama… but at the same time, those questions were for my sake. They saw the unfiltered power and aggression of my mate… All I saw was his gentle side.
Izzy suddenly pounced on me.
“Mom Is Mini coming over today?” She asked.
“No!” Said Jason. “They only come on Saturday and Sunday!” He chimed in.
“I want to see her… Can we ask Uncle Jerold anyway?” Asked Michelle.
“It’s only Thursday, but I think your Uncle Jerold has the week off.” I smiled.
All the pups cheered. They Loved it when Jerold came over. Mini was a delight, being such a good little pup. So in a way, Noah’s reward gave all around him a bit of a blessing.
They wound up catching some high profile targets together, and they got rewarded with a paid week off. They said that 43 good humans were killed by the end of their spree…. 10 of which were all from the same family…. Our pups, nor Mini Knew that, and we adults would pretend everything was fine for their sakes.
“Let’s go home and help you guys with your homework.” Said Kaiden. “He texted back saying he’s packing for the whole weekend.”
“Yay!” The pups cheered.
“And you can get your chores done before she gets here.” I said reminding them.
They all complained.
They were in 1st grade… they were only doing basic math, but Caleb had problems with reading. I think it was part of his Charred Blood being so strong. Languages and how to speak them was never the issue, but if he was ever going to learn how to spell his name, he’d need the extra help from someone who understands their way of thinking… He Could read… just not Quite at grade level yet… He was also 6 months younger than the others… and sometimes it showed.
Izzy was a wiz at writing, but she hated math… She lacked patience…. She pretty much wanted the problem to solve itself. I would help her and Heidi.
My oldest didn’t really have any problems…. As she taught herself. She never spoke about her past unless you asked, but I knew that she had to teach herself how to read and write. They gave her no formal education until she went home with the Queen….
I got in the car while our pups… they were nearly frothing at the mouth, Ready to play with Mini.
“Daddy, Caleb is Cheating!” Screamed Izzy.
“You can’t cheat Rock Paper Scissors.” He said calmly.
“Maybe you guys want to hear a little story.” He said and they sat still… I could see why Heidi rode her broom home… “One of my oldest memories… it has a moral to it too.”
They let him start.
“It was a Long time ago… but not too long. I was a pup myself, and my daddy was still alive…” He said as his eyes turned golden.
“Ooo… what happened?” Asked Michelle and Izzy at the same time.
“It was the day, the only time I saw a lambia.” He said quietly. “They are a beautiful woman most of the time… We talked and she seemed nice… She even offered me water. She could do magic, and it just appeared in her hand… but she was a stranger at the border… I was 15. I disobeyed father, and went to the creek to catch turtles...” He said shaking his head.
“Daddy you were Bad!” Shouted Izzy.
“I was. I let the stranger in the house and everything.” He said silently. “I was lucky my papa knew what she was up to… she was trying to kill your Uncle Connor before he was born. My papa was a good person, but there are bad people who do Bad Things for no reason.” He said telling the story I’d never heard before. “I remember her turning into a snake lady. Her head was like a rattlesnake’s… but she had the body of a cobra. They wanted to hurt Connor, but my papa was strong as they came.
Fur flew. That thing is still buried in the back yard, but I assume that it’s only bones since this was along time ago. So… what did you learn?” He asked.
“Father you worry too much. We are not babies anymore.” Said Caleb. He was doing his math in the car…. He sounded almost like a man. “Do not cheat of me Isabelle.” He growled.
“We don’t let strangers get close.” Said Izzy, like the child she was. She accepted her brother’s request, but did her reading to spite him.
“But what if we know the stranger?” Asked Michelle.
“If you know who it is, they aren’t a stranger. I’m telling on you!” Said Jason.
“No! Uncle! Jason said-” he cut her off.
“Well… I’m in here so there’s no need to tattle, so’s your Auntie…. But if you guys don’t know someone, please be careful. When you were really small, someone almost took you from me. I tell you all this story as a warning because I know you’re old enough to understand. Strangers are Danger. So’s the other princes, especially the Vampire Prince.” He said firmly.
“He’s so stinky.” Said Izzy.
I held a laugh… The new prince did smell of blood a lot… but she outright said it.
“He smells like dead rats.” Said Michelle.
The other pups ‘ewed’ and giggled.
“Ok… but let’s Not tell him that.” Said Kaiden.
Knowing Izzy… she would if she got the chance.
