Book 3: Chapter 64

Tiffany
“When I get my hands on you, you’ll beg for me to burn this place to the Fucking Ground!” I screamed.
“Tiffany wait!” Yelled Eskaal, but I’d just barely slipped away from his claws before he could grab my cloak. I’m sure he didn’t want to try too hard to stop me, because his powers could kill me on accident… but I didn’t care.
“How Dare You!” I screamed, while he chuckled. I knew it was probably a trap….
But even if it was, that thread meant that he *was* down there, and that I had that tether in my hands meant that he can’t zip off somewhere else!
“He bound himself to his facility! Stop running in so brash!” Yelled Eskaal. “I don’t want to hurt you Tiffany. Stop! Damn It Little Girl!… Don’t make me.” He complained.
I stepped on a trap… That’s why he was warning me….
All the *magic* was dispelled, but this was an old fashioned, step on a pressure plate trap…
The Beast Prince pushed me forward a little so I could stumble…. But it got Eskaal between the eyes. He traded his life for mine. There was just no time for both of us to dodge.
We skidded to a stop.
“Shit!” I yelled. “I can’t heal that!”
Zayde pulled it out, and closed his eyes…
“I was hoping his body was hiding something to revive him... but he’s dead already. No one can…. Elkteer you should come out. General Eskaal has been killed by your horse shit…. You know the masters.”
“And I’m not letting go of the thread.” I hissed.
“There’s nowhere I can run.” Said a gurgled voice that echoed on the walls…. “Killing a general of the master… Lord Xaxas will blow up the planet to find me now.”
“What The Fuck Did You Do?!” Screamed Zayde in anger. “What did you DO to yourself?!”
“Punishment for playing with fire…. One does tend to get burned.” He giggled, though it was too high pitched… distorted… “I fused myself with my demon, though my wife’s fusion was more of a success.”
*…what did he Do to himself?!*
There was something deathly wrong with Elkteer…He slimily slithered from a closed office… His rasped breath sounded as its own torment.
“Sister…?” He gurgled. “Surely that is not *you* within flesh.” He frowned, having the nerve to judge me looking like *that*.
“My choices and penance are not your concern.” I said bitterly. “…And I am no longer your sister…. I don’t think I ever was.”
“There is no need for that kind of hostility….  Allow me to aid you in acclimating to this environment.” He smiled, though all his rotted teeth were only fangs. “I see you wear my emblem… I know there are no survivors, but it does make me happy someone will continue my work.”
“I Would NEVER do this to anything, or anyONE! They were People!” I said feeling my bare feet wet with Eskaal’s blood…
I got the smartest being on the planet killed because I didn’t listen. He tripped me to save my fucking life, and Elkteer stands here acting like he’d done a good thing.
“Ingredients.” He ‘corrected.’ “Wyverns were better than the mortals… Wyverns have venom, claws, scales, long enough lives to endure the tinkering needed to manipulate their genetic material
I knew he was mortal like us… He willingly came, feeling responsible for all this. I know he did. After all, it was the Beast Prince who shared such a secret…
This is why there are so few people who know how to mold flesh… even fewer who can control it… and fewer still who are *permitted* to. It made me wonder.. Like did this happen to him because he wasn’t permitted to augment himself, or did he not understand what he was doing.
Hubris and pride are a witch’s natural enemy… Magic after a certain level of accomplishment, and lifespan make us arrogant… brash, yet, we *think* we have everything under control…
That we know what we’re doing…
We think we know how things work, and tinker…. But this time… it failed.
“What happened to the shamanism Elk?” Asked Zayde. “What happened to the chilliest of all Gulteer’s children?”
“Don’t.”
“No I think I fucking will.” Hissed Zayde angrily. “Man…. We used to ride gorses and shit, collecting bodies for the masters…. Smoke at the rim of the Pit with the masters when we died… You were the only one to accept me without any issue… No… did you try to copy the gener-”
“Shamanism …. I learned so much communing with the land but …molding flesh… is it not the zenith of mind and body?” He had three arms, and five legs…The fifth leg made a crooked tail a little too far up the toad back, while the third arm sprouted out his human torso. He had a centaur body now, though the base was a toad’s… He had warts and wrinkles, with dark, stripped blue toad skin all over.
His dull gray eyes were like a fox’s, and his ears were a donkey’s…. He was a strange amalgamation of matted fur and amphibian goo…. All the while all kinds of horns jutted out from his skin… He was multiple dragons all smushed into one nasty toad-centaur body…
What the hell.
“What … You know what you found isn’t the peak of anything.” Said Zayde. “Hold out… your appendages where I can see them!”
He raised them slowly, but he shouted over his shoulder.
“It’s dinner time Ness!” He yelled. “The Slimy One will deal with *you*.” He grinned.
A transparent green giant, 100-legged eel with a dragon’s face slithered down the clean halls of the lab, leaving a trail of basic slime that smelled of bleach…. It had to be 60 feet long, but we were also under a basic lake… All the feet were different kinds, and random horns, ears, eyes, and tails were littered over her shimmering skin… I could see her organs since she was clear… it was like she was a spirit, but not.
It was like she was trapped between life and undeath… a paradox that’s Also illegal…
“Did he say Ness?” I asked… My heart dropped… I *knew* that mindless creature….
Zayde shifting would break the ceiling and that chemical water would dissolve this place.
“Shit.” Said Zayde, grabbing Eskaal’s body. He bled out through that wound… so he really was dead. Brain matter sloshed out as we ran down tight corridors, and every room seemed to have another room attached to it.
“Breathe fire!” Encouraged Elkteer. “The slime’s flammable.”
This place was a maze, but it seemed Ness didn’t want us to go right.
“When we get out of this, I’m dragging you by your leg-tail to the masters!” Yelled Zayde angrily.
“I’m bound here. What are you going to do, send this whole place to Hell-”
The ground under our feet quaked from teleportation.
“Where the Fuck is the mortal that did This To My Dragons!” Screamed Xaxas. The roar shook the entire facility.
“You should have known one of them would have taken you up on that.” Said Zayde. “For your sake, you better pick one to kneel to.”
“Ugh, it stinks of failed flesh magic in here.” Said Xaxas… ‘Nessy’… Vinessa his wife skittered to the Realm King. “Oh you’re the Slimy One. It’s so ugly you’re kinda cute.”
*Boom*
“I’m dead.”
“You’re Fucking Dead.” Boomed the King.
I don’t know if his bow was supposed to be kneeling or not, but he was bent down low enough, that he *almost* looked like a bowing toad.
“What were you doing to my mortals.” Hissed the Realm King. “Eskaal you can get up now, you damn ham.”
“But I was enjoying seeing this with the old master.” He huffed, sitting up, completely covered in his own blood, but the wound was gone.
“Figures he can’t die.” Said Zayde.
“But now you learned something.” Eskaal used magic to clean himself off, and the magic clipboard began writing. “I’ll go document what he found master… But honestly, I don’t think I’ll find anything new.”
“Good. Now explain to me why you started experimenting on our Own people.” Demanded Xaxas. With a clap of his hands, we were standing on some kind of enormous platform of black Tarteron stone… All of it was black stone, with occupied thrones in the center.
….All 4, the Princes and the King of Hell were here….
Not a single one looked pleased.
In the center of the great place was a hole… I assume to throw people in, but other than that, it was bare, and I felt like an ant. I think right now, they had to be at least 11 or 12 feet tall, looking down on us from their black thrones on pedestals.
“I tried perfecting the greatest project this world has ever seen.” He raised all three of his hands in the air. “I actually did it too…. The Slimy One.”
“You two are too weak to remain down here. Go home, and good work.” Said Xaxas, teleporting us to Yellow Diamond.
