Book 3: Chapter 26
Tiffany
“Sorry Zayde.” I said sheepishly hugging him gently.
He was stubborn, refusing to get medical care, but the vampires knocked him out so they could fix his neck. That was Alteer’s request. Atto did it because they both like to exchange favors. Now Alteer would have to do something for Atto. I had no idea what though.
He playfully growled at me. “I bite.” He warned.
Zayde let me touch his bandage. “Where’s the biting?” I asked. I began to remove it.
“I Could.” He warned.
“You won’t.” I patted his head. His neck looked fully healed.
“Atto does good work.” Said Alteer.
Zayde rubbed his neck…. He was given a mirror to see. “Not even a stich line…. That’s Damn good work.”
“Where…. am I?” Said the girl.
“Your new home.” Said Alteer. “What do you remember?”
“The fire… pain… shouting. Then bright lights and a white room…. My maker…. That’s it.” She said truthfully. “I know wherever I’m from I’ll never be welcome again.” She looked at her slightly clawed hands... “What am I?” She felt her teeth.
“You’re a vampire. You were from the village below there.” Pointed Hekki. “Your family is lost… but maybe here you may find a new home.”
“I… I’ll give it a shot… But where’s my master?” She asked quietly. “I remember him naming me… kind of.”
“Lord Atto tasked your care with us. Should you wish to return to your maker, we will escort you home.” Said Alteer.
“In the meantime…. Do you remember the Metters family?” She asked.
“Only my boyfriend. He wasn’t there when I died. None of them. They escaped and left me to die.” She grumbled…. She sounded bitter about it.
“I didn’t want to Sonya.” Said the eldest son.
“It doesn’t matter. The only thing I remember is seeing my family killed, and dying alone…. You Promised you’d protect me, and now I’m…. I’m this.” She hissed. “Did you ever stop to think about what I wanted?! Hmm Micael?”
Their names had been changed, and Atto when he turned her, got her to remember him as Micael Jekel, not his original name. This was done to protect them, as well as to separate them from their past as best as possible. Wards were put over their faces, so that if they ever went into town, they would not be recognized… ‘Micael’ was his middle name, and all of them did something similar. The parents and the children used their nicknames as their new first names, taking the house name of Jekal as well.
It was their right, though they would likely not be allowed to leave this castle for about 100 years or so. Alteer didn’t want another riot… so to be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if none of them ever went back to the village again.
“If I had my way, I would have been there with you.” He said looking at the floor. “…. All this is my fault. I was hoping at least one good thing could come from this.” He said sadly.
“I’m …. I’m a creature now… I knew you were… I saw your birthmark… But I didn’t say anything.” She cried. “My name is Casey Draco… Whatever it was before, I don’t know… I’m not that person anymore.” She looked down.
He hugged her.
“I’m sorry.” He mumbled
“I hate to interrupt your reunion, but I have orders to give.” Said Alteer. “Casey Draco, you are the charge of Micael. Yu must choose to stay here, or return to your maker. The boy swore to protect you, and you died. However, that was before he found his powers. Before he knew he was a witch…. But that you technically ‘live’ means that he must still be your shield.”
“I have no home to go home to…. I’ll either have a master at my maker’s house…. Or a master in this castle. Better I am bound to one who love me.” She said looking at the floor. “I hope you can still love a corpse.”
“I don’t care that you’re a vampire, as much as you care that I’m a witch.” Said Micael. “You are no captive… Can we let her-” He was cut off.
“To allow a fledgling to wonder the world is a death sentence.” Said Alteer with crossed arms. “She won’t have the self-control to stop once she get’s hungry. She either stays here, or returns back to Atto.”
“I want to stay here.” She said firmly.
“This isn’t what I wanted… This didn’t work out like I thought it would…” Said Micael.
It looked like the weight of the world was on this teen’s shoulders….
“Retire to your room.” Said Alteer. He waved his hand, and they were gone. “It stings to see that, but they’ll figure it out.”
“There was nothing I could do.” Said Zayde. “Atto wasn’t going to let her live either…”
“Of course not!” Shouted Hekki “If an intact, unmarked human roamed the castle, she wouldn’t last a *Day* You two get some rest. And if I recall *you* swore to teach them magic young man. Tomorrow to make good on that, I want you to show them how to awaken their abilities.”
“Alright.” said Zayde getting up.
-----Gulteer----
With my daughter alive, secured, and her status reinstated, I could aid her. However, at the moment I was home.
Phantom Coven specializes in all forms of magic, thus, we are tasked with guarding and maintaining the grounds of the Master. He is not here often, but he was today. The Realm King was also not a patient man at times. With all the talk of near war…I may get to be deployed.
The private island of the master is guarded by me, and my demons. This place was lush, with all kinds of colorful plants and beasts alike. There was a village here that housed nearly every kind of supernatural, as well as a mansion that had at least one or two thousand rooms, and just as many servants….
I ignored all the intricate paintings, busts, and pillars that went to the high ceilings. He was in his office, an unusual endeavor for someone so high.
The Realm King needs no office, this world is his. We all scurry atop the soil because he does not wish to destroy it all this time… Not now that he has a mate. His office was made of fine marble floors and a high 20 foot ceiling. His grand desk was to accommodate his imposing stature… He was about 10 feet tall, maybe 11. Regardless, as I bowed, I felt like an ant.
“Did you get what I asked?” He commanded.
I put the egg on his desk made for a man 10 feet tall.
It was just an ostrich egg I had to find on the mainland… I wondered what he’d do with it? Souls were an easy enough request. I gathered many from cemeteries, haunted houses, and such. I didn’t want to attract attention to his plans, whatever they may be.
“Not a crack my lord…. I also procured the souls you asked for.” I put the leather bag on the table, and he opened it. They flew around him before he held out his left hand, and used his right to make them into a large ball. He then put it inside the egg, and it changed to crimson, with a few black spots here and there.
He sent them to their afterlife, but not before he taxed them of their energy. He had changed substantially…. I remember when he would have ripped them apart, not bothering to check if they were even intact enough to go to the spirit world…
“Have a seat.” He commanded. I sat. His hands glowed red while the egg floated, spinning slowly… He was using flesh magic, and I got to see such a rare spectacle.
“Do you wish to create guardians for Yellow Diamond master?” I asked. I realized what he was making… and I knew this was likely a task given by the Horned One….
He grinned. “What untamed jungle has no forest guardian? I have enough bullshit on my plate as it is.”
He used magic to put the now ruby egg in my hands… It pulsed with a heartbeat. What this creature was, I could only guess. I knew I was probably right, but with the Lord of Judgment, it could be anything, even something completely new.
“I will protect this with my life.” I bowed.
“Good. It won’t hatch until the castle is done. Until then, make sure nobody does anything foolish. You’re dismissed.” He said waving his hand casually. He disappeared.
“I will go and place it within Yellow Diamond’s cellar… that it know its home.” I said teleporting. I know he heard.
Velimier was in the Jungle, as the castle was still in ruins. They’d only just started excavating, but the basement was intact enough that I could place it here.
“…. Is that a serpent egg?” Asked my son.
“Possibly. Serpents and Quetzalcoatl are extinct, and he didn’t say.” I said being followed by him.
The area had been cleared around the castle, and witches were assessing what stones could be salvaged. They were going to start with those to make flooring, but not much else. They’d sat broken in piles or cracked deeply from being toppled. There was not much use in them, but whatever we could get, we would take.
The doors to the basement were long rotted away, but I trudged on. The cellar was dark, damp, and held about 3 feet of murky water, but that was an easy fix. I used magic to make it flow up the stairs, and to the local stream. It fed into the river, so it won’t flood the forest. The basement had multiple floors, as most of our castles.
The problem was that if the top layer had this much water, the rest was submerged. I cleaned this place myself a while ago, so thankfully nothing was lost, but I still hated to see such good stone magically ruined….
“I swore I would build this place, but I will not lift a finger more.” He hissed.
“That is why I told the master I would.” I glared at him. He bowed. I was starting to get annoyed with his tone and attitude. “I hope you also know that I have no qualms teaching you why I am the Witch King.”
“I am not so foolhardy to interrupt the masters’ plans because of pride my lord.” He said what I wanted to hear, but I still gave him a real warning. “Theophania-”
I put my clawed hand on his head.
I let him feel the magic that flows through me. I would pop his head clean off If I wanted. “I have lived a long time…. Longer than probably any King today. Do you know how?” He shook his head. “It is because I do not leave loose ends. I’m going to warn you, that if you harm or sabotage, or behave like a Snake, you will be stomped like one boy.”
“I would not sabotage the birth of a new coven.” He mumbled.
“You would if you could.” I countered. “You would because I smell your prideful, decadent behavior. If you ruin the masters’ project… You will have multiple lords of hell to answer to.”
I turned his head around and snapped his neck. All I had to do was twist my wrist. He wasn’t dead, but he’d lay there in the algae covered floor a while.
“I want maggots to taste him.” I commanded walking up the stairs. Let him have a taste of what happens in my court, when my children think themselves too high.
