Chapter 60
Eclipse
Without waiting for me to respond, she led me out of the huge council chamber, leaving Alpha to fend for himself. I heard a smack, and felt bad for him. His grandmother frowned, mumbling something in a low growl. I thought she would turn around, but instead she kept her same stride. We went down the hall and turned right, and there was a slightly smaller version of the same room, however it looked more feminine. It smelled like roses and lavender. There was a lounge area with black and gold pillows big enough to be chairs. There was also a water fountain that had glowing water coming out of a howling wolfs mouth in the center of the circle of pillows.
There sat women all about as tall as Kaiden, with hair that I swear represented the phases of the moon. Each woman was of a different part of the world, and had white or silver hair, with varying degrees of black in their hair. They had all been blessed by the Lady to represent the some of her hues, and I felt so out of place. I was again the smallest she wolf in the room, not to mention I was the only one with dark gray, almost black hair. All of them looked like princesses from a fairy tale, and they all got up from what they were doing and bowed to us.
“Though you are the smallest wolf, little one, remember that you are the second in command here. It’s never about the size or strength of the Luna, but rather her heart for her pack and mate. All but whisper, and your enemies will be devoured to ash, little one.” She said with a smile, sensing my intimidation.
“She is so young,” said the Luna with all black hair.
“Yes, but can you not see her pure soul, my sister Luna.” Retorted a woman with an even mix of black and silver hair.
“Come and sit Eclipse.” Said the Queen, sitting on a pillow. but I had not told her my name. I sat, shaking off that thought, and remembered what Alpha Ron had told me, that powerful elder wolves can hear my thoughts. I sigh and sat on the pillow next to the Queen. “Now that we have the final Luna… we must bless the water and partake together.” Then she looked at me with a smile. “It is simply a blessing from the Lady.” Said the Queen. “It will initiate you as one of the council. You have just as much a right to be here as your mate.” She smiled.
“Ok…” I said shyly. I never thought I would have a place here, I wasn’t even powerful or strong like these Lunas were, but they all seemed like they must be as old as the Alphas on the council, seeing as how they were their mates. They all held hands and bowed their heads. I did the same, unsure about what would happen, but I didn’t want to interrupt their plans.
“My Lady, in your ever-changing light. I ask you to please bless this new Luna, almost a pup, yet a woman, that she feels the strength within herself. May we all share our knowledge and wisdom this night. May she receive your merciful touch.” She then got up and got water from the glowing fountain in a silver goblet. She then walked to the back of the circle, and passed it to the woman with all black hair, and she drank, then passed it to the right. As each drank, the fountain glowed more. When they got to me, they passed it over me, and I was a bit confused. The queen smiled, and she sipped. The fountain glowed as if there were lights in the water, then she passed it to me.
I hesitated, but I sipped, and the water slowly stopped glowing, turned black, then glowed red. “I’m sorry” I apologized, I had destroyed their sacred ritual, and I felt guilty.
“No, you are the final phase we were never able to represent, the eclipse, now pass it child.” Said Queen Gwyn, then she drank it, and it slowly changed back. I suddenly felt a rush of love. I felt like the Lady herself had embraced me in a hug, and told me everything was ok. And before I knew it, it was ended with the woman who had the all black hair.
“There, you are a Luna recognized by the Council. You are my second. You should also be able to withstand the aura of my husband now with the blessing of the Lady. The pups you carry will be blessed… Do not worry of your lineage, because I know one of them soured your mind to the idea of it…. Charred blood is strong.” Said the Queen with a smile.
She was so gentle, and I loved being around her; she felt like a second mom. I hugged her, and she hugged back immediately. After that, I felt tired, and the world was spinning. The last thing I saw was a pair of enormous hands catching me before hitting the ground.
I heard the sound of heavy breathing, and humming from a feminine voice. I felt someone stroking my hair, and I smelled lavender and honey. I slowly opened my eyes to the Queen holding me like a child, I was in her lap in a room I didn’t recognize.
“Sleep well my granddaughter?” She whispered, stroking my hair. I nodded and snuggled up to her, I have no idea why, but she felt like I knew her my whole life. “Kaiden will have you the rest of your lives, I only ask but for a few moments.” She hummed. “There are no pups in this home, there are no young ones to mother and spoil, so I ask you to return to me after you bare them.” She hugged tight, like any grandmother would.
“Of course, my Queen.” I answered respectfully, blushing a bit.
“No child, call me gram-gram.” She hugged me tighter.
“Ok... gram-gram.” I smiled and hugged her back.
I heard the throat clear of two men and saw that Kaiden and the King were both in the room as well. The King sat in a chair buy the bed, while Kaiden was in the doorway. “My mate, please release our granddaughter that they may leave… and I may rest.” Said the King flatly. I didn’t even notice he was in the room. I could feel his power, but it didn’t crush me. I snuggled more into the Queen, and she growled at him for scaring me.
He let out a long tired yawn, it had a growl to it that shook the windows. “They have a long journey, and they will return in time.” He sighed annoyed, probably still mad at the antics Alpha pulled. Kaiden shot daggers at him and shifted his weight to lean against the threshold of the door.
“I love you little one.” She ignored her mate and kissed me on the top of the head.
“I love you too gram-gram.” I responded instantly. /I hope we come back, because I would love to have hot cocoa with her and talk about girl stuff/, I thought to myself. /I want to run with Falcon, her wolf./ Said shimmer.
The king smiled, and got up, putting his hand on the top of my head. “Our grandchildren have good mates, go with my blessing small Luna.” I didn’t know what to say, seeing as how his hand covered the entire top of my head. It made me nervous, but I knew he didn’t mean anything by it. It was his way of claiming me as his kin. He then walked to Kaiden, and put a hand on his shoulder. “Remember our agreement pup, lest you receive a visit from me.” he chuckled darkly, and got another growl from the Queen.
“I know grandfather, it isn’t hard to do.” He grumbled.
“Babygirl let’s get ready to go. I want to go 5 hours today and the rest tomorrow.” He said almost excitedly, like he couldn’t wait to leave. He walked over and hugged his grandma tight, and picked me up bridal style, almost prying me from a death grip. They were both extremely passionate about me at least, I thought. I waved while he walked out the door with me.
“I almost hate to leave gram-gram with that asshat.” Said Kaiden with a smile when we got to our room. He let me down so I could undress.
“You know he can probably hear you?” I question him, hopping into the shower. It looked like he was already ready to go, all the bags were already downstairs, and he had picked out a red tank top and jeans for me.
“He can hear my thoughts babygirl, I don’t really give a fuck.” He laughed.
Time went by pretty fast after that, and when we went downstairs, the entire court, both of Lunas and Alphas, greeted us goodbye. They bowed, except for the King and Queen, seeing us off. The car was already packed and parked facing the direction of the road, and we left. But it bothered me that Kaiden’s eyes were more yellow than usual.
