Chapter 19

Eclipse
I woke up at dawn and got ready, this time with makeup. I had always wanted to put it on for someone, for my mate. It wasn’t much, but I found some red lipstick my mom had packed for me and he was already in his office. He got up even earlier than me to get what he needed done so we could go out and spend time together.
I was waiting on him in the living room downstairs, finishing a Shamrock Homes novel so I could start the next one I had on the coffee table. Everyone went about their business, the warriors and office workers making their breakfast, chatting and clocking in or out for the day made the room filled with life. About 9:30, I was just starting chapter 12, when I heard a giggle, someone snatching my book, putting it on the shelf. His imposing size, and mischievous arm crossed lean said everything without him talking.
I looked up at him angrily, crossing my arms, “It was getting good!” I complain. His face looked like he’d never seen me before. He leaned down and kissed me.
It was so tender, and genuine. He rubbed his hands through my hair, making my glasses fall off. It sent shivers up and down my spine through me that I couldn’t describe. I put my arms around him, and he leaned into me closer. He broke from out the kiss and leaned into my ear.
“Babygirl, you look so good.” He started kissing my neck down a trail, running his hands down the length of my hair, he was almost completely on top of me now. “And you taste it too.” He said nibbling the crook of my neck near my mark spot. And I gasped, feeling a sensation of him kissing my mark, making him growl in lust, now completely on top of me.
I heard snickers, snapping me to reality from embarrassment. “Alpha Kaiden everyone’s looking!” It came out like a stuttered whisper.
“Let them watch” He grumbled. It resonated throughout my body. I felt his connection with me deepen. I liked it. I wanted this attention, and I couldn’t understand why. It almost made me not care that we were in the living room.
“Take that upstairs!” I heard an authoritative warning snarl from a strong female voice. It was his sister, Gamma Branson. She spritzed him with a water bottle.
“Lady Moon Fucking Damnit Shelly!” he growled deathly serious.
She let out an annoyed sigh, “I’m glad I did come down to tell you the car’s ready….” She ignored his warning, putting her hand to her head and shaking it slowly. “Everyone show’s over, back to your posts.” She yelled, waving her hands to make everyone get back to work.
He got off me, my inner wolf absolutely livid that he stopped. I had to stop myself from letting her take control. /He started something he is going to finish right now/, she snarled in my head, trying to come out. He noticed this and pecked a kiss on my forehead, reaching out his hand for me to take it. I blushed, embarrassed to know that he probably heard her very ‘convincing’ argument.
I made a mental note to never wear makeup again, when we got to the car. We do drive, and my parents and neighbors owned cars, but most people in the pack walk or shift to get to where they need to go, because everything was pretty close.
We went into a garage that had 2 cars, 3 ATV’s with little cages on the back, and a delivery truck. He pushed the button to make the car unlock and blink yellow. He had a nice, dark blue Mustang, it was clean and smelled like strawberries due to the air freshener. I kind of became excited, because movie theaters didn’t really exist here in the pack. We didn’t have those along with popular fast food chains, but we made due with what we had.
“You’ve never been out the pack, right?” He said more as a statement.
“No.” I said seeing him smile a little.
“You’d be surprised how many haven’t. Now that we are out the territory, there are rules to the human world. Do not call me Alpha. No growling or changing. We are going to a horror movie, so people will think I have on contacts.” I gave him a nod in confirmation, then looked out the window, seeing all the different little houses. The pack truly did mimic human settlements, however the main difference was the scent… the air was fresh out here in the countryside, but there was no supernatural indication. Our world was pretty separate, though it was by choice. I think Alpha wanted me out here though just to see something new.
“Bingo.” He said getting on the interstate. “I figure, live a little bit.”
“You sound like you leave the pack a lot.” I said thinking out loud.
“Maybe once every few years if there something I can’t send the Omegas for, but I did a lot when I was a kid with my littermates. My father would be livid.” He said with a smile, but not taking his eyes off the road since he drove so fast…
“What did you do on those adventures?” I asked and he laughed a little.
“I’d steal my favorite color horse, the gray one, about sundown, ride all night, and sneak into bars, get in fights, and other nonsense. We were teenagers. Anything we could get away with without forming a posse on us, we did.”
“About the most excitement I’ve had was when I was 5 or 6 and got lost in the store while mom went grocery shopping.” I mumbled sheepishly. I thought he would laugh at me, but instead he patted my hair.
“Then that means I’ve done my job. Shenanigans and hijinks are meant for Outside the pack.”
Then it dawned on me. “Alpha how old are you?” I blurted.
He didn’t look any older than 24, but I was curious. “…. 218.” he sighed. “I waited for you literally to be born babygirl, and now that I have you, I want to spend every moment with you.” He said honestly and bluntly, not taking his eyes off the road. I remember the 3 years I didn’t have a mate. I was so lonely, even surrounded by the people that I loved. As immortal creatures, our mate is meant to share our lives with us…. It must have been torment.
“You have no idea.” He said responding to my inner monologue. “But I have you now, and that’s all that matters.”
We drove for three hours, occasionally seeing a small settlement, farm, or large patch of forest. I thought about what he’d said a little bit as we still chatted about things here and there. He’d opened up to me, and for it I was glad, but he was just shy of two centuries older than me. It explained why his wolf was so vicious… and why he seemed so sure. He’d lived since before modern technology, seeing the world change while waiting for me… I thought he would say something, but he didn’t. When we got off the interstate, the town was only a few minutes away.
The shops and stores reminded me of things I’d seen on TV. There were so many humans out, and up until this point, I’d never seen one up close before. They held a strange scent… I couldn’t make out what, but it peaked Shimmer’s interest. I’d never hunted. I could only assume that it was related to that since it was the first thing I thought of… but I don’t believe I could ever do that to a human. Again, I thought Kaiden would have a comment, however he only drove. He’d gotten quiet, as if he regretted telling me his age, but I didn’t mind.
He pulled into the mall, and parked. I had read about malls and cities; we all did in school. We watch TV, but there is something about actually seeing something. He parked and opened the door for me, and we walked in holding hands. I was thankful he did, seeing as how it was crowded today. There were so many people; no one noticed us. There were people who had on all black and had their hair colored blues, greens and pinks, it was rare, but people did it enough that we didn’t stand out too much.
He insisted to buy me lunch, it was a little past 4 after walking around. It was great. I got to taste food from other countries, but it was fast food. It would never be as authentic as the real thing, but it was still closer than what I could do or get at home.
It was also strange to be around so many humans. The smells and sights of them around me almost made my head hurt, especially when walking past people who had on perfume. Inside the stores were crowded, and no one gave way for us here. Out in the human world, we were just people, not leaders. However, no matter what he did, Kaiden would always stand out being the tallest man in the shopping center. It didn’t stop him from enjoying himself though.
That partially came in the form of gifts. He kept buying me things, anything that caught my interest, anything that wasn’t nailed down. He also bought panties at Veronica’s Secret; they will never be worn. Never! He chuckled sinisterly at my thought, catching a stare or two, I shoved my hand in his face playfully when he lowered himself to kiss me. He then gave me puppy eyes and a big huff.
His phone’s alarm went off. “The movie’s about to start.” He said taking my hand, and the line went all the way to the food court. The other hand had about 6 bags of clothes.
We went into the section where you could get movie tickets and he bought me popcorn, and we sat in the top row, about 3 seats away from a human couple. The theater had about half the seats filled, mostly with couples, and the smell was intense with food. The lights went low, and the movie started. He held my hand.
Jerry Ruger killed people by entering their dreams. Honestly as a werewolf, you would think that that isn’t scary, but creatures like that exist. There is a small chance that if you traveled enough, and were careless, you could accidently find some ancient horror. One that ate wolf and men alike; one that humans only thought was made up.
I felt eyes on me, making me tense. No one likes the feeling of being watched. He put his arm around me, and rubbed my back in big circles, it comforted me. I knew that this was just a stupid movie, and it would be over soon. I looked up at Alpha, he had been watching me, his eyes reflecting the light back at the screen, making them glow slightly.
He bent down and gave me a kiss on the forehead, just a peck and smelled my hair. I rubbed my hands on his chest, on impulse. He grunted, and returned back to watching the movie, but looking at me, wanting to do more. He knew he could not release inhuman noises. We also couldn’t link each other, as it would cause our eyes to flash the color of our wolves momentarily.
A loud jumscare made me jump at the end, clinging to Alpha squealing, digging my claws into his arm. I could smell the blood and instantly felt really guilty, but he didn’t flinch. He laughed about as hard as one could, his bare bicep having leaked a little bit of blood, hoping no one would have seen my claws. I had some napkins from the popcorn, and I wiped his arm before the lights came on. “Sorry Alpha Kaiden” I whispered shyly.
His eyes grew wide, and there was a real fear to it. “Fuck, it’s okay babygirl.” He mumbled.
