Book 2: The End, Chapter 123

John
Heidi and her demon giggled, though his deep ass voice did Not sound pleasant while I was trying to sleep. They were playing some witch’s game, while Hellinia was on the other end of the line. I think they were trying to make mirror magic, or something, but I had no interest in playing. They were rolling a 20 sided dice in the mirror, then speaking backwards, and then the other person would have to guess what the other person said.
If I have nightmares, I’m banning this boardgame.
“I rolled a 3. Damn. It’s your turn mistress.” Said Zahrraam. “You Sure you don’t want to play?”
“No. I have pack stuff in the morning.” I said shaking my head.
“Goodnight. I swear I won’t eat all your hamburgers again.”
“Leaving a Half eaten one doesn’t count.” I said rolling over on my side.
“Nhoj Si peelsa won, evael mih enola.” Giggled my mate.
“Thgindoog Nhoj.” Whispered Zahrraam.
“Guys, come on! I have to talk to a bunch of kids in the morning.” I complained.
“Yrros.” Said Zahrraam.
“Zahrraam’Zeh it’s my turn now. I rolled a 16.” She giggled.
“Sorry.” He said correctly.
It was Lunarween, Hallow Night, Night’s Ride? I didn’t remember the name exactly, though sometimes it was close to the Harvest Moon. It was some holiday in October mortals enjoyed, but lately it’d become popular. It was meant to be a night where the spirits were most active, but for a nonmagical being like me, it was just a Saturday.
However, I could see why humans like the ‘Sinful night’ activity. It was a night they dressed in costumes, had parties, had candy, and drank their asses off, so we could kind of come out too. The only issue would be if you turned into a four legged animal like we did, or something else that would be hard to explain.
Well… minotaur legs could be explained away with stilts, but they get so big…. Maybe. Some satyr might get away with it. They were known to be human sized and on the thin side.
/What if you shift in front of a drunk human; does that count?/ asked my wolf, but I didn’t respond.
I woke up Late at 7:45. My mate and her golem were asleep on each other. He snored on the floor and she used him like a pillow. I let them be, and I touched the mirror they were using. I kind of regretted it when I did, but nothing happened to me.
It was what I saw.
I wondered was this the last thing she saw before she slept, but I doubted it. Beforehand there was nothing, just a reflection, now there was a sleeping big guy on a stone slab. I could hear his breathing, though it was steady and deep. He laid flat on his back while his black hair draped to the floor like a curtain, but it was so dim in there, it could have been brown…. It felt like I’d seen someone I wasn’t meant to see. The entire room was made of stone, held intricate carvings and lava aesthetically flowed on either side of the stone altar he rested on…
I could hear his heartbeat, and mumbling. It felt like I shouldn’t be holding this… the energy that came off the mirror made me want to keep looking in curiosity, because I wondered was this what Heidi meant to do.
“What is this?” I mumbled. “Who is that.” I looked closer.
He had ram’s horns. I don’t think I’d ever seen horns that big to be honest.
/Break it./ said Terracotta. /Break It Now./
I listened to him.
He was my instinct after all. I broke it with my thumb, but before something happened. I also felt it was probably best if I didn’t say anything about this. I didn’t know who that was, but I could feel the energy from the mirror. It was no one to mess with, that was for damn sure.
In my office however I was Alpha. I wouldn’t stay here though. I was supposed to go speak with the Seniors since the upcoming Harvest was coming. I felt honored to host the assembly, and I was supposed to be there at nine.
I would do it like I remembered my Alpha did for us. It would be fun. The first thing I did was get myself ready to go. I would do this half shifted, go around the back curtain, put on my pants, and then speak normally in case the Omegas didn’t understand wolf speech. That was common since it was so much harder for them to produce the sounds needed to understand them. They had dormant wolves, and with that came no powers at all.
I let Heidi and her demon rest, and I was thankful that she wasn’t expected either. She was likely up all night since Hellinia’s nighttime is Now. They were like watching big and little sisters who got along.
It made me almost miss Jess. I hadn’t thought about her since her Dumb Ass Actions, being the one to put her down in the first place… it seemed almost like I wasn’t allowed to have siblings. One was a murderer, the other tried using powers she couldn’t control.
Being around Eskaal, I know he plays off what he can do. He made the Black Death; even if he was somehow ‘weaker’ than me as he claims, his abilities in curses, magic, and disease knowledge was something that really did Need to be contained or controlled.
He also had to be beaten and forced into that cell by multiple Kings and my father. That alone was enough to show he was lying.
“I’ll be home at noon. Sleep well you two.” I said shaking my head, leaving out.
I found a nice black pair of jeans and shifted. I put them in my mouth, and left the door open. No one would go up there, plus if they did, they’d probably Leave on seeing Zahrraam. He was a giant moose, one big enough that he doesn’t know his own weight, but they wouldn’t know that.
The run to the school was actually pretty fun, and I was offered sweets on the way. I didn’t because it would mean stopping, and it was already 8. I still wanted to take a tour of the school, and meet the staff. I left the hiring up to the principal, a silver furred male from father’s pack.

He played multiple roles in Lapis; it was why I picked him. Training, education, teacher, assistant principal. I figured give him a shot at being a full staffed principal here. The problem with living forever is that for specific roles, since we never die, the position may never be filled. I know of some instructors in Alpha Kaiden’s pack that had been teaching since the pack was formed… Like they Knew the original Crown Prince.
Here however, my pack was Young. It was made only a few years ago, with wolves displaced and not even in their 400’s. Hells, I was their Alpha and even I wasn’t 50 yet. To the council, I’m still a pup.
But regardless, the kids who saw me shift were in awe. I walked up to the door and Principal O’Mills was waiting for me. “Morning Alpha. It’s good to see you so shiny.”
[It’s the lack of sleep and no breaks.] I joked. [Show me around a little. Sorry I’m late.]
He chuckled. “If you were on time, I’d be worried. Come on.” He said letting me follow him.
The school was 2 stories, long, rectangular, and had 4 separate buildings. The longest was the high school. The tallest was the middle school, and the elementary was only one floor. That was so the pups could be seen by any teacher in their section. With our pups, they go to school at 5. Grades k to 5 were elementary. About grade 6 they start hitting puberty, and need to be with more experienced teachers. They should shift by 8th grade, because 9th to 12th would be high school. By then they would be 18, find their mate, and pick a training.
We live too long to be stupid… though there were plenty out there who didn’t know a damn thing.
“And over there is the Gym. If you want to stay over and test some of your Jr’s, I’ll ref.” he smiled.
[I might.] I said seeing the students make their way to the auditorium. I hadn’t made a speech. I figured I’d wing it… I know his majesty had to. He was never big on speeches, but he was very inspirational.
They all looked at me in awe. It was weird. Sometimes I still didn’t really realize how much influence I had. Regardless, I waited for them to pass me, and bow their heads.
“Do you want to go in through the stage entrance?” He asked.
[No. I want to walk down the middle.] I said in wolf speech.
They came and sat quietly, while the principal went ahead to introduce me.
“Quiet down guys.” He said without a microphone. “Many of you today have been clear across the country. You’ve had loss, lost loved ones, and dear friends. But here, you all have a chance to get some of that back. The First Graduating Class of StoneMoon, show some support for Alpha John. He came all the way here after being up all night.”
They clapped, though I could see a few yawns…. I had an idea I know they wouldn’t necessarily appreciate.
[Good Morning!] I roared at the top of my damn lungs. I wagged my tail as I ran down the middle, leaped onto the stage, and whipped around the back curtain to shimmy on pants as fast as I could.
There were roars from my Warrior Jr’s.
“I Said GOOD FLIPPIN’ MORNING!’” I came out, and got cheers from them all.
/…ham./ grumbled Terracotta.
I ignored him, and started. I didn’t need a mic. I’d be pumped for them and have the whole high school rowdy the rest of the day til probably lunch.
“I see a lot of awake faces now. That’s good, cuz I won’t keep you long, Principal O’Mills won’t let me.” I joked. “As you know, I’m your Alpha. I watch these lands at night, so everyone else can sleep.” I said truthfully. “I was told a long time by My Alpha growing up that Your Rank Doesn’t Make you a Good wolf, your Actions do. Your Status Does Not Mean you Cannot Do Great Things. Before I lead this pack, I was just a scrawny Warrior Jr. But now I am an Alpha. I Serve the Council. Even without my birthright, his highness encouraged rewarding hard work. I hope my reign also encourages that. No one here will be left behind on my watch. No one, not even the Omegas.” I said firmly.
To my knowledge there wasn’t any bullying, since most of these kids were about the same rank. They were mostly low. So low in fact that to bolster my ranks, I’d share my blood with the older wolves. I was told it smelled like jet fuel to them, but for me… I was just myself...
I saw my sleepy, but happy mate at the doorway. She saw my Cheesy speech, broom in hand. She gently flew down the middle and to the stage. That also got a lot of the kids’ attention. They’d seen her fly, but not up close. I gave her a small hug and peck on the cheek. I wouldn’t do Too much, just show she was Luna.
And she was. “And right on time, my little mate arrives.” I chuckled. “Amidst all the Crazy situations we’ve endured, the only thing that didn’t change was my love for her. A soul mate… they are named so for the fact that they share all your heart, and half your soul... It is an unbreakable bond. This Harvest, some of you will be 18, and you’ll see your mate.
Hold to your true mate. For those who choose a mark mate, understand the gravity of that… that one day you may See your true and have to reject the one the Lady made for you… that once you see them, you will always yearn for whom you cannot have. So do Not take such a choice lightly… but if you do, know that you will love your mark mate still. Wolfish love is unlike mortal attachment. For us, there is No Other. And love your friends and fellow packmates. We’re all we got.” I said ending this.
“That was really good.” She whispered as they clapped, and O’Mills got the mic. “If anyone wants to spar with his majesty and test your skills, You may go to the gym.” He said as I went behind the stage to save my pants. I was glad I didn’t just ruin my only jeans I brought on impulse.
I roared, creating dust from my snarl, and leapt off the stage…
/HAM!/ Yelled my wolf
I laughed, being followed by my Jr. Warriors…. And my mate was pretty much behind me on her broom.
“John!” She complained.
This was what I wanted…. I Loved this woman… I hid for years how I felt. But now that I had her, I would never let this go…. Her being a dark witch might one day be a bad thing for me and the pack… but for now there was peace.
If there wasn’t… I’d go wherever she flew.
For now though, she’d see me spar with the Warrior Juniors, and I’d get to show off. We might even summon Zahrraam’Zeh, that they see him. That would be up to those two for that.
END
I didn’t want to do it guys, but it’s time! They have their happiness. I think in this book, that’s all I wanted. I wanted to explore a Taste of the magic world through Heidi’s fresh eyes. I also figured of all the characters I’d made; Heidi was the best fit to be a child of the Horned One. She’s naturally sweet, she was so timid, and it was fun to play around with.
Now you guys get to look out for Willow’s Wolf: The Fallen Prince, the Dragon’s Grace, and I need a title for the last one, but I’m thinking The King’s Princess. They follow Bryson’s children, and each one will be completely different c:
I might also be re-publishing Kaiden’s book, a remastered version, since I learned that I am unable to post it over the one I already have…
Maybe I should try Kaiden’s book again. I want it On here and Free for those who already bought it…, but I also don’t want to delete the original. It may have a lot of mistakes, but it was my first go, and I’m proud of it. I still make mistakes…. I’m doing it by myself, but I do see your corrections and I Really Truly appreciate it!
