Book 3: Chapter 35
Tiffany
Echidnah… her strength was unmatched. She pretty much had the duffel bag in one hand, and the man in the other. I kind of felt bad, but magical potions won’t work on him. He lived with her too long, so even if we removed the incident, the actions are already done…
“A word.” Said Alteer. His disapproving face told me that he *knew* about our car ride. He was given the duffle bag. And he took one sniff, and growled. His eyes were black with red irises.
I offered him a whipper… He took it. His eye color changed to black and orange.
“Sorry.” I said sheepishly.
“The food was here without issue, and you even managed to find a stray mortal that knew too much, but you should also be more careful. This is grounds for arrest. The swirl on your States United ID will get you far, but not *this* far.” He growled.
“It’s my fault Lord.” Said Echidnah covering for me. “She didn’t partake. She didn’t even know what I was doing until after she inhaled my smoke.”
Now his eyes were yellow. It was hard to hide his feelings.
“Sorry… I didn’t know it was that bad. I *knew* it was bad but-” he cut me off
“I’ll talk with Zayde *and* Typhen. You’re both grounded.” He said with crossed arms.
“What?! NO!” Complained Echidnah, but with a snap of his fingers, her wings held magical chains around them. It didn’t look like it hurt or anything, as it was just red light, but she was Upset.
“You too.” With a wave he had my broom, and now it was chained with red glowing light.
“NO!” I complained. “Give me back my burger! It was a peace offering!” I yelled.
He grinned.
“You’re really… *really* innocent to be a Dark Witch.” He petted my hand. “Romania isn’t Like Amerika. This is a serious crime that could have landed you in human hands. I doubt a bribe would have gotten you out of this, since this is a magical container too.” He said making my broom vanish. “But this is a peace offering. Had you been my coven member, you’d be either in the cellar in a cell tonight, or whipped.” He vanished.
“Shit. I didn’t think he’d be waiting for us…” She said rubbing the back of her neck, but I could see Typhen flying in his true form to confront his mate. “I’ll see you later.” She took off running. She laughed as she did so.
“Just talk to him!” I shouted.
“No! I already got my wings taken; I don’t want to hear him too!” She complained.
I couldn’t argue with that, as when I went inside, a black letter appeared in my hand.
‘I’m downstairs.’ It said. This was Zayde’s beautiful cursive… Granted Romanian cursive is HARD to read since it isn’t my native language, but I put the letter in my pocket.
I was nervous. More than the disapproving glare of my father-in-law, was the potential judgment of my mate. It’s His fault though, so if he wanted to chew me out, I mentally argued it out as I followed directions carved in the walls.
I don’t know when they carved directions into the first floor, but I doubt it was because of me since we were technically visitors. I was choosing to find the door to manually walk down to waste time… It took about 20 minutes. Funny how I told her to just talk to her mate, and I’m avoiding mine too.
The moment he saw me, his eyes went from black and red to green. I was yanked to him with magic, so much so that when he hugged me I was slammed into his rock hard chest. He smelled my hair, and growled.
“My lovely… My sweet lovely. You’re safe.” he said worrying for the worst.
“We got snacks in a human city... How do you feel about Hamburger Royalty?” I shook the bag, and he gently took one from me.
“… I haven’t tasted one this life.” He said taking a bite. “As greasy as I remember. As good as this is, I know I can’t have it.” He gave it back.
“I’ll have one!” Said Casey, but before she could get one, Zayde stopped her. Micael was asleep on the floor, still shifted… I wondered how they got him here, since I knew they left to Atto’s this morning.
“Take *one* bite and see if you can keep it down. Burgers now only fill your belly; you won’t get any nourishment.” He warned.
The already open one was given to her, and she took only one piece off of it. That one bite made her gag… She cringed as she swallowed that single bite.
“That tastes like… Like what poo smells like!” She said looking upset. “Ugh. Is that guy down here yet?” She looked around. Witches were bringing him down, and she left.
“Once you can learn to hide how bad it tastes to you, I’ll take you to dinner!” Yelled Zayde as a joke. “Now you, my little smuggler.” He kissed my forehead. “Sorry I got you in trouble. I didn’t know dad was going to find out. Nothing gets past him.” He complained.
“He took my broom!” I wailed, milking it. He rumbled a sheepish growl.
“Sorry.” He said in English. His accent was thick, as I believe he was fighting the urge to shift.
“Are you alright?” I asked.
“Micael’s been shifted too long. His scent is too dominant, and I want to rip my apprentice apart.” He said with a sigh. “That’s the natural process, since they are naturally solitary, dominant creatures.”
“But I guess that’s where the balance between witch and beast comes in.” I said with a smile. I knew I was right on that one… He was likely taking his time, lost in his own mine, having to figure out himself.
“It does. But my bag’s contents help.” He admitted.
“Mhmm. You just like smoking. Good job hiding it.” I said shaking my head.
“I knew you didn’t, you’re dad’s a councilman, mine’s essentially a prince. He understands, but at the same time he’s had thousands of years to force his nature to comply, and I’m starting from scratch. And mind muddling spells are Dangerous, because we’re immune to effects like that. There’s too much demon’s blood in these veins.” He chuckled. He held his hands out.
“What are you summoning?” I asked. I recognized that… He was up to something.
“Getting my shit back. I spent too much to risk it being grown in the first place.”
He took a long time to do it, but his hands glowed in his open palms.
I watched.
“From the tainted soil of the Layer of Sloth, raised on Urth, the seeds were traded for as many souls as seeds as could be gathered. I summon the bag I sewn myself my last life. Return to me Agony, my bag of holding.” His hands pulsed. He growled.
I giggled. “Zayde if it’s locked away just leave it. Maybe if you ask nicely, he might give it back.”
His eyes were red, and he closed them. He ignored my complaint.
A tube of toothpaste appeared. The note on it said ‘Summon a toothbrush, love dad.’
“Awe what the fuck.” He groaned, rolling his eyes. “Witch parents are the worst! I want to be a fae!” He said this as a joke, but he was honestly pissed. He sent a black letter like he did with me, and the response was:
‘If you try that again, I’m giving it all to your coven.’
“At least your breath can be minty fresh. Your father probably made a bonfire out of it just to chastise you.” I said seeing the look of horror on his face. Micael was waking up, and he yawned.
“That or gave it to grandfather. He enjoys a good bowl.” He sighed. “I think my fondest memories was sitting at the Gates of the Abyss, looking at the stars in the sky That was the second shift I ever did…. That’s where you gain control. It’s meditation.” He roared, having conversation with him, and he shifted, becoming naked.
“I heard of that. It’s like there’s a tube-like pit so black you can’t see even your hands in front of you, but you can see the night sky, in its entirety. It’s like almost to the spirit world, just before the In-Between.”
“.. But if you resist waking up, and spirit walk After you get out, the view… It’s unreal. One day if you need to go there, I’ll come with. You can hold a crystal ball and sit in my lap.” He smiled.
We were slightly interrupted by Micael, who rubbed his eyes.
“I smell fast food.” He said gruffly.
“We saved you some, but take your time.” Said Zayde. “How was your first time?”
“…. It was a pit. Just a dark pit you tossed me in and I had to crawl out. My body was bound in so many ways, but each time I held control, it was like I was lighter until I woke up… The stars. I think that was my motivation, was to get a better view, but I woke up once I had full control.”
“You think you can handle yourself then?” Asked Zayde. He put his hand on his shoulder. What was shared next I didn’t know, I didn’t speak whatever that language was.
“Yes sir... Were’s Casey?” He sniffed the air. “She smells… upset? I think. Since she turned, her scent is reducing every day.”
“That will continue to happen, then she’ll just smell vampire. I say maybe another week’s time.” Said Zayde. “She found out she can’t have human food anymore, and I think she’s done. I don’t hear anymore eating, but the mortal is alive.” Said Zayde.
“Thank you. I’ll go make sure she’s ok.” He said leaving. He didn’t bow or kneel. He was human… They don’t really do that unless it’s Asia, and a few other places. However, it wasn’t common here.
But he’s going to have to learn proper etiquette… Had he not bowed to Alteer, I’m sure he would have forced him to with magic.
“And since you’re grounded, I can escort you upstairs.” He chuckled.
“Um… can you shift?” I asked and he hummed deeply.
“I don’t know… you’re kinda heavy.” He joked. “You’re so much taller than me too.”
I playfully slapped his shoulder. “I am not! You could totally pick me up!”
He did pick me up, but to be a clown, he pretended he was dying as he went up the stairs. “Ah, my lady I can’t go any farther. Please have mercy.” He was being a jackass and I was embarrassed… many giggled at us… We were both big giddy kids, but why not? Both our missions were successful.
“Stop!” I whisper yelled. I also giggled since he pinched my butt… Of *course* he would support me by holding my bum instead of my legs.
“Fine, but I get to do a barrel roll.” He countered. “I’ve wanted to do that for a while.”
