Book 3: chapter 93
Zayde
A week passed, but there was so much to be done. Typhen, Micael, and myself all chose a cave made from the fissures, but Tiffany doesn’t know about the surprise yet. It isn’t ready.
“It’s 4am.” Said my mate sweetly. “Did you enjoy your nap?” She asked.
She has no idea I spent half the day digging a wide enough tunnel to go to the den spot. It goes 290ft deep, but .
“Perfect. The farm inspection can start at 5am.” I said getting up, but not before Aptherraam pounced on me.
\[Master We Still Haven’t Sparred Yet!\] he screamed. \[You Must see what I learned!\]
I’d forgotten they needed to exercise.
\[Me too!\] Complained Tinzaa, hopping on my shoulder…. So much for waking up slowly.
“I got the snacks.” Said tiffany, wearing a black v-neck shirt and matching jeans. She was adorable, and up already.
I wore some old jeans and a t-shirt after a shower. ‘Walking the demons’ would have to come first if I’m to have them help Sai’fire today.
We all rode the elevator together. Aptherraam barely gave me time to dodge, the moment we landed in the courtyard, he shifted to his mooselike minotaur form. We fought hand to hand, blow for blow. And they both showed impressive skills.
Tinzaa is as flexible as rubber, and Aptherraam takes the wind out my lungs. He was slower than me because he is bulky, but when he does land a blow, he takes the wind out my lungs. If he can do that to me, he can easily take another demon so long as it isn’t family, or a demon lord.
Well maybe. I should get them tested by grandfather, and their strength reevaluated to see if there are any holes in their training.
Tinzaa trained with Tiffany, who was admittedly much more agile…. And we both ended up sitting in the grass watching them. Seeing Tiffany twirl and spar, ripping up her clothes was a show I didn’t expect…all the while her scent was becoming… floral…. We silently had our ogle-our-partner truce, but I could also see Typhen’s approach while they started with magic now.
“Like this.” Tiffany shot green lightning from her fingertips.
“AH! I CANNOT DO THAT MISTRESS!” Tinzaa yelled laughing, but she did return fire with purple fireballs.
“Looking at the scenery I see.” Chuckled Typhen. “Now that you’re awake, it is time for me and my mate to retire ourselves.”
“Have you been called?” I asked. He took a breath. He didn’t want to ask for time off, but I’d give it.
“The goddess asks of us, and we answer. There’s a cave just outside the barrier… as the charges of Lia, we may hold the Horned One’s favor, but we must go to her call.” He said with a light bow.
“Congratulations.” I said knowing that they were going to have eggs.
They are possibly Lia’s greatest asset. Through them, entire races are born. It isn’t always Lia’s creations too that hatch either. Echidna is the Mother of Monsters, and as such, she is protected. To harm her is to bring the wrath of the Earth… like… good luck with that.
I heard Lia likes turning people who piss her off into chicken wings on a stick. I’m sure there’s some truth to it.
“What was that?” Asked Tiffany. She used magic to float to us.
“Typhen and Echidnah have been tasked to whelp. It’s been a few hundred years too.”
“You’re right… I wonder what the Earth Goddess has in mind?” She asked.
“I don’t know… Lord Xaxas, Asanguis, and herself are all planning their own broods… maybe we should plan our own?” I said honestly. “What time do you suppose?” I clarified this… I didn’t want her to feel pressure… but I did want to know.
She jumped in my lap.
“Hmm…I say… at least 6 or 7 decades like last time.” She smiled, kissing me on the forehead.
“I can’t wait to show you our den.” I said kissing her on the cheek.
“I have another idea too.” She said seductively.
“Oh?” I growled…. It was cheesy but she really… really liked it. I could scent she was starting her post hibernation heat. I won’t say anything. If I bring it up right after the den, she might feel pressure to lay…. It isn’t ready, but I really want to show her the cave I found. It’s large enough for her to be comfortable, even shifted.
“It’s going to be a little reward after work.” She said kissing me softly.
I held onto her gently, fighting the urge to have my claws extend, and nipped my neck.
“What do you plan to do to me?” I asked returning her kiss, and she put her hands on my shoulders.
“You’ll see *tonight* dear.” She giggled.

/Take him to the surprise Now!/ Complained Theo.
/We have Work./ I countered. And we Did! The man farm-
/….Boo!/ she wailed, cutting me off. /BOOOOO!/ she blew a raspberry, while I resisted rolling my eyes.
/Theo behave!/
/I wanna go to Zayde’s Meat Farm. Heeheehee!/
She was ignored.
We left our demons to frolic in the courtyard while we went to the man farm. It was only a small flight from the main part of the castle, for their safety. The facility is underground, warded with magic, and only those who are authorized have access.
Nothing was out of order. Casey may no longer be human, but she holds human enough mannerisms to be perfect for this.
“Morning!” Casey beamed, wearing a lab coat.
“Morning! Mind if we look around?” I said with a light smile.
“Oh this is perfect. We increased stock, holding 190 humans now. Today is donation day for rooms 20-30.” She said handing me the clipboard.
“I’m going to also interview a random human.” I said heading to the donation area first. The bottom floor had one vampire doctor, and one nurse. They took one pint per person. A vampire can live off a pint a week, but two pints are recommended. Any extra is stored and rotated out.
Nobody looked stressed, and they sat patiently in the waiting cell. There were books for them to read in there, as well as puzzles, and with the power of streaming, the vampires picked TV programs to play.
Next was upstairs.
The place despite this being a surprise, didn’t have a drop of blood nor filth was to be found. The food was fresh, as was the water. This place wasn’t farmed for man’s meat, but the blood mostly. This allowed us to have not only fewer people, but also they had nicer standards.
The humans here are lucky, because for the most part, all they need is their blood. There’s a small scale, symbiotic relationship between these vampires and their charges. But I wouldn’t interview any humans yet. They were still surrounded by vampire guards.
Well you can’t just cram people in a cage anyway unless you want Xaxas to pay your farm a personal visit…
/Ramble alert./ giggled Theo.
/oh Whatever!/ I complained. /All I’m saying is that they get to live in communal apartments instead of cells./
