Chapter 53

Eclipse
The sun wasn’t even up yet, and Alpha was up doing pushups. He was covered in sweat, like he had been exercising the whole night. He noticed I was awake and jumped up, walked to me, leaning down to kiss me on the forehead. He seemed more toned than yesterday, and he smelled dangerous. “Morning beautiful, come on a run with me.” He whispered, sending shivers down my spine.
I nodded and got on some jogging pants and a loose red shirt. He was barefoot, shirtless, and in only some jogging shorts. I suddenly felt overdressed. He wrapped a towel around his neck and held my hand going down the stairs. Then we jogged.
I was so tired, and my legs burned because he was going so fast. We had ran for an hour straight, and we hadn’t made it back to the packhouse yet. We were deep in the woods, and I had no idea where we were, but I trusted I was fine and that he wouldn’t do anymore ‘training’ sessions….
I panted desperately tired next to Alpha, who seemed bored and sleepy. We had been going for almost forever at a breakneck pace down the trails, and he wasn’t even tired. “Alpha slow down.” I complain.
“No can do babygirl, it’ll break your stride, plus we’re almost home…. In about 15 more minutes.” I groan and he laughs. Shimmer is loving it though, because we were outside and having bonding time with our mate. I was so ready for this to be over.
When we got to the packhouse, all I could do was look at the stairs that I still had to go up. Alpha walked halfway up and waited for me. “A little help?” I asked nicely, he growled a definite ‘no’ with a smile. Even when he was growling lowly, it still rang through the house. It bothered me, but I shook it off and went up the stairs like a bag of gelatin.
I collapsed on the bed, all sweaty and tired. My body was mush…. I woke up to the smell of barbeque, and that was all I needed to get up. I ran down the stairs, and Alpha was already at the table, eating with Beta Connor, Derrick, Gamma Branson and all their mates. “There she is, Miss Universe.” Sang Alpha, noticing my un-Luna-like appearance. I rolled my eyes and sat in the empty chair next to him. “I heard you ran the whole trail.” Said Gamma Branson, proudly.
I nodded and started eating as soon as the plate was put in front of me. I hadn’t eaten all day, and it was so good. I saw a hand reach for my plate, and I let out the deepest growl I could bearing my fangs. I looked up and it was a warrior that thought I was done, the light drained from his eyes and the table erupted in laughter.
“Oh gods…. sorry” I put my head on the table. Shimmer was proud that I defended our food, holding her tail high. I was so embarrassed that I looked like a wild woman from the forest, growling at random people. I felt a firm and reassuring pat on the shoulder, and a kiss on the top of my head.
“That’s my babygirl.” He laughed. I turned every shade of pink in embarrassment.
“Are you sure she’s not a baby lion brother?” Joked Connor. Everyone was in a good mood, so I just put my head in my hands in embarrassment harder.
“I’m just glad she took your lesson to heart.” Said Gamma.
“Yup and there will be at least one every day for a while.” He said with a cheeky grin.
“And starting tomorrow I’m teaching you the MoonPack System the Right way.” She smiled with crossed arms.
I groaned, which got boisterous laughs from the table.
Apparently, everyone decided that they would celebrate the defeat of the headhunters with a feast. It was spur of the moment, and Alpha Leon and his warriors were there too. And here I was, in my running clothes. Nobody seemed to mind, as some of the warriors were fresh from patrol.
Alpha Leon and his mate mingled with the other members of our pack, as well as with Kaiden to express their gratitude.
It was a nice party, and it died down after midnight. The LemonMoon pack went home, and I was in Alpha’s arms upstairs. He said nothing, but he breathed in my scent. I slowly went to bed resting my head on his chest.
-----Kaiden-----
My Luna lay sleeping, carelessly dreaming about whatever lovely innocent desires she had. I sat up, unable to continue sleeping, knowing that she was so fragile. She was a delicate crystal chalice, and I was her dragon, guarding the treasure of her mind, body, and spirit.
I was a shit dragon, she had been hurt twice now, and I worried for her getting pulled into pack politics that I tried so desperately to keep her out of. I didn’t get up, I just allowed myself to ponder the what ifs in the darkness. She was so sweet.
Eclipse was my innocent baby girl the moon goddess gave me. What pained me was after making me wait, she could be taken at any moment I turn my back; someone could kill her. She was weak…. Small… it wouldn’t take much to do such a thing. As it was, I’d made many enemies in my short life by all the killing I’d done nearly every day.
…Enemies by not mating a council wolf’s grandpup… the political mess of not performing my duties as Crown Prince…. Knowing that when I go there, I will likely be sentenced to stay, making my brother Alpha…. Something I Didn’t want.
/Stop Worrying, go the Fuck to sleep./ Growled Rakaam.
He was bothered by me thinking this way. Honestly, I had never really thought about anyone else like this before. She can’t stay this weak…. It would only leave her open to aggression by some other crazy she wolf if I wasn’t around. But she did show progress. She growled at me. She bit me. Well Shimmer bit me, but it was a start. She also defended her food on her own…
I smelled her fear in her sleep as I stared at her little body for the second night in a row. She sleepily hit me with a pillow. “Alpha, it’s no sun o’clock.” She whined. I laughed a bit and picked her up, she immediately slumped on me with all her weight, which wasn’t much, to attempt to get some sleep.
Of course, I did the most rational thing, and I licked her face like an idiot, making her squeal and jump up. “Ugh I’m taking a shower!” She complained. Even Shimmer was mad at me, which made me chuckle. I got up and got my running shoes and some dark jeans, I wasn’t going to shift I figured, because the lesson was going to be basic.
I got a mind link from Marcy that she was ready to train babygirl with me. I decided to let her do it in the backyard, for convenience. She came out the shower; she had washed her hair, and it was longer wet. She looked so perfect, and as much as I wanted to shower her delicate skin in kisses, I resisted. She was going to either hate me today or rip off my clothes.
I was hoping for the later. She was a pure hearted angel, and I couldn’t help myself but lean in and kiss her one time before we left. She stood on tiptoe to kissed me back and went downstairs. I followed, surprised.
In the backyard, Marcy was already waiting with her sports bra on, some bike shorts and her red-brown hair tied up in a ponytail. Her mate was sitting in a chair not too far, along with a few warriors that caught wind of what I had planned. Eclipse looked timid, I had told her that we would train, but she smelled intimidated by Marcy. I picked her, because she is very disciplined. She can tell you every detail of a patrol, and she knew how to train pups.
For me right now, that was the most important skill she held…. Eclipse had no formal training which was very rare. Even pups, so long as no one thought they would be an Omega would learn at least the basics of self-defense.
“Good morning Alpha and Luna” She bowed and then put her fists up in a defensive stance. We greeted her, and she looked fierce which scared my mate. I put my hand on her shoulder,
“Babygirl, Marcy is my best warrior trainer. She won’t hurt you.” I told her reassuringly.
My wolf was livid of the thought of her even fake fighting, because she was so small, but that was the point. Since she was so tiny, someone had to do something. There may be a situation where all she needs to do is get away, assert dominance, or slap the shit out of my brother since he likes to play too much.
“My Luna, I want you to hit me as hard as you can, I need to see how strong you are, so that we can work around it.” said Marcy in her signature military voice. Babygirl looked at me and I gave her a small nudge to go to Marcy.
She stood there, thinking about ‘how mean it is to just hit someone’, and then she let Shimmer take over so she could do it. The other problem my mate held was that she thought like an Omega …. Since they can’t fight as wolves, they don’t settle issues like upper ranked warriors. Eclipse thought the same way. My hope was that this would toughen her up a little.
“I am ready.” Said Shimmer, copying Marcy’s stance. She gave a good punch in the gut, which didn’t faze Marcy at all.
“What grade outta 10 Marz.” I yawned; I knew it would be low.
“About a 3 out of 10 compared to the average warrior, my Alpha.” she stated flatly. She was no stronger than a pup. All Warriors, regardless of gender must score a 10. Most pack females would be at a 5, while the average pack male would be a 7…
“Damn, lets teach her some self-defense moves, and jog 10 miles today.” I rubbed the back of my neck. She would be toast in a real encounter, but at least knowing this would boost her confidence… and training her for endurance would help if she Did need to run away.
“TEN?!” She squealed.
“Fifteen.” I said amused.
She learned how to redirect the weight of a person and flip them. She even flipped Marcy, though she let her. I hope this will give her confidence when she meets the High Council.
