Book 2 Chapter 24

Heidi
“You should administer them, since your hands are soft, and you have never punished.” There were grumbles of approval, and I froze. WHAT NO I CAN’T! That’s what he meant on the stairs! I thought he was kidding! Oh, my Lady no! I screamed in my head, I know they both heard, and he linked me.
Then ask your wolf, she’s practically foaming at the mouth… small as she is. He chuckled in the link, and patted me on the back.
She took over without my permission and stood in front of Jesse Ready. She disrespects our mate, hurts the human that saved us, and disrespects us. He is right. Of all the wolves in the pack, we will not hurt her like they can…. But it will hurt enough. Sparkle did a little spin in my head, and I wanted to yell at her, but she was right…. But I couldn’t do it…
“May I request mercy for her as well? She doesn’t deserve it… but I can’t do this…” I said ashamed. The wolves grumbled disapprovingly. Alpha glared at us, as if he were suspicious of something but I couldn’t tell of what... I submitted immediately, fearful that I asked wrong, but he nodded his head.
“By the mercy of Assistant Luna Heidi, they will both receive 5 lashes from her.” He said sternly. Someone else was going to lash Beta… so, I would be giving 10 lashes out regardless. Lady Damnit.
There was a long pause while I stood in front of her… debating on what to do… I couldn’t. I tried, but I couldn’t even allow my wolf to take over to do it. It was too much. I dropped it… my wolf picked it up. We must do this. She said like a Luna. I shook my head, but she was right. I let her have full control. I knew I wouldn’t be able to do this without her.
What makes me any different from Emerald if I hurt her? I asked my wolf, but I heard a concerned hum from Alpha.
Little one, from what I gather, Emerald mistreated you without reason, but here it has purpose. It is the way of wolves to enact punishment on those who break the law. She has wronged you, your servant, and your mate. That she only receives five is nothing compared to what she should have gotten. Also, if she gets away with this, she will only get worse. He linked, and he was right…
Sparkle raised the whip like we’d seen dad do a thousand times, and Jesse was silent. She didn’t flinch, nor did she show any signs of it being painful, but there was a welt. I saw that her fur was starting to cover her back, and she cried hot tears with the second. The third she let her tail come out, but she remained eerily silent. I wanted to stop, but my wolf was stern. She gave the rest, and walked without remorse to Beta. She gave her all five, and Jesse glared at me with hatred. She looked more humiliated than in any pain.
“Sorry Beta.” I said taking over for a second.
“Don’t be, it was my poor judgement. I should have done more research and picked a better wolf for the job.” He said with a smile.
“Ok… but I won’t hold back.” I let my wolf take over, and she raised it high in the air. Sparkle whipped him as hard as she could, and he laughed.
“I’m not kidding that tickles.” He yelled, full on laughing the entire time without breaking a sweat. “Oh, my Lady I needed that joke. Thank you lil’ one, Tami don’t be too mad at me!” He giggled.
“At least pretend to be hurt, you make the pup look bad!” She growled. His mate was a tall thin woman with wonderful silverish white hair. She was as pale as milk, but her eyes were a fiery grey green. She slapped him on the back of the head, and bit him on the ear. “Oh…” he moaned, and she slapped him again.
“You old bastard! I’m being serious!” She snarled, and he got out of his restraints, standing up casually. He rolled his shoulders, linked her something, bent down, and licked her neck. He chuckled evilly, as did the other men. He patted me on the head, before standing next to Alpha.
“You’ll make a fine Luna yet.” He chuckled. She stomped grumbling next to him. I wondered…... what did I just witness?
Alpha cleared his throat. “Xavier, it seems your daughter refuses get up, you may remove her.” He said trying to sound official, but there was a chuckle to his voice. I gave him back the whip, and I looked at her father carry her off…. I didn’t get it. I didn’t get her…
I went upstairs with Alpha, Luna, John, Beta and his mate to be briefed on what had been done. It still needed to be registered that they were reprimanded, and why. He sat down with a tired plop, and filled out a form. He faxed it off, and put the original in a folder that hat her name on it. He also did one for Beta, but it ‘mysteriously’ ended up in the shredder until Isaac fished it out half chewed.
“Alpha no.” He chuckled, putting the chewed file in his folder himself.
“I was doing an old friend a favor.” He retorted.
“Alpha I have two books worth of reprimands; one more isn’t going to get me fired.” They both chuckled, leaving me and john confused… but one thing still bothered me.
But I would leave well enough alone. In here thoughts were not private.
------John------
Heidi slept in our bed while I was up late with my adopted father. “Son, I don’t think you will be able to give Jesse another chance. Here she must be treated as another pack member.” He said sternly. Garnet put some spaghetti on the table for us, and even though it was midnight, I still had room for thirds.
“I just hate to pretty much banish her.” I said with a small growl.
“John, you have to understand, I don’t want to find her body in the river a week after being missing. No one will care what happens to her here now that they see her negatively.”
“I just hate that it has to be me.” I grumbled.
“I know John… I know.” He said getting up and walking out, he didn’t even touch his food.
Honestly, he was right. I was right earlier too. Now that it had gotten out that she disrespected me and Heidi, the pack would probably hate her here, just like at Charred. But at least there, she had rank to protect her. Everyone loved their Alpha, and through that extension, they were welcoming to me. This even extended to my mate too. The pack loved and respected us; disrespect was pretty much the nail in the coffin for her living here in peace.
There was also the fact that wolves here were especially sensitive to anything considered treason because of my brother.
There would even be allot of hate driven her way in ShadowMoon, though I would try to keep it secret as to why she was changing packs… I would have to ask Alpha Zanther, my adopted dad’s brother, not to share WHY she’s there. “Her file would have to be kept secret. He might not even accept her… shit.” I mumbled.
“You may have to change her name and give her a new file.” Suggested Garnet, but I would have to have my father do that. He was the true Alpha of the pack, and I knew he wouldn’t help in covering up what she did. I left my plate untouched… suddenly I wasn’t so hungry anymore.
“I guess I’ll just eat all this.” Said Garnet cheerfully. “But your grace, seriously… don’t worry about her. She will be fine, though I suggest calling ShadowMoon and getting her mated to Beta Carson, he’s single. Widowed, with no pups, but single.” He said casually. I glared at him.
“I’m not marrying her off to some old geezer.” I growled.
“No Alpha. You don’t understand. That pup Craves Power.” He clenched his fists. “Set her up right. She doesn’t deserve it, but if she’s an official’s mate, then she should be safer if all this comes to light in another pack.” He said casually, finishing the third plate. “Maybe call BlossomMoon, their new Alpha is unmated if that’s the issue.”
“I want her to be able to choose.” I said defensively, and he looked very serious now. He put down his fork with a large clank on the plate, but careful not break to it.
“She lost that when she disrespected you. Choice is not a right. It is a privilege. We are not humans, and this isn’t a democracy.” His eyes were that strange purplish red again, but they reverted back as quickly as they changed. “Right now, my wolf craves her blood. To him she is a traitor and a threat to her highness. I know if anyone else heard what she said today, they wouldn’t have had as much restraint as I did. Her father and mother have on rose colored glasses… you do to.” He took a sip of water, glaring out the window. I know it was directed to me, but he wouldn’t out right do it. It would be disrespectful.
“I know you’re right… but I just can’t lord over her.” I got up to head to my room, but he stopped me by putting a hand on my shoulder.
