Book 3: Chapter 86

Tiffany
/That’s Reckless!/ Shouted Theo. She was right of course, but I did it anyway.
“Bind-in-Twine!” I yelled, knowing full well he was likely magic resistant.
He became wrapped up in thick rope that he snapped nearly instantly, but it was Just enough time for her to get a good head start.
Now that he knew he couldn’t reach her… his attention was on me…
I didn’t understand what he said, but I understood that posture. He was going to jump, and attempt to kill me…
And I waited. When that large maw opened up, my fire blew down. He must have thought the acid was the only thing I could do, since *most* can only do *one* ability. Fire Or venom, not both….
{GAHHHHHH} He roared, falling to the ground with a mighty thud, raking the ground with sweeps that made trees crack in half. \[Ra r arar ra-ra-ra stupd bitch!\]
“Broil-N-Oil!” I shouted again, flapping my wings. There was a thunderclap that came with it, and he became covered in magic tar that stuck to his skin….
I dodged a tree.
My spells only pissed him off. His hide is too hard for any of my attacks to do anything, not even breathing fire.
I laughed as I zipped, on purpose too. The sun was up, but that wasn’t his weakness, he just knew that the Father of Trolls was coming back!
I breathed fire on him as he tried getting me, but I was too high up…He threw rocks with very good aim, but I darted in a zig-zag pattern. I needed to buy time.
The sheep to my understanding are safe in the day… but more importantly with backup I could defeat this thing.
“Just LEAVE already!” I yelled in English, but I doubt he could understand that. Crock is a dead language because they pissed off Xaxas trying to cheat him. So he killed their entire race. Every single one…
\[Rar!\] he stood on his back legs and pulled out a knife on his belt. It was about as long as I am thick, and he tossed it.
His aim was true.
Without two wings I cannot fly, and I shifted from the pain. I had to think fast though. My wing shifted to an arm, and as I fell I grabbed it, bleeding profusely.
I managed to fuse the bone but I can’t fly like that….
He jumped again and opened wide.
I breathed fire.
{AH!} He screamed, and I landed on top of his nose, rolling off to the left. The impact took the wind out my lungs, but I didn’t have time to hesitate.
I now ran on foot, fully clothed.
I escaped another, more frantic snap. I guess now I’d made it personal for him, but, seeing most of the sheep either going in the cave-house, or right outside the door was a relief. And seeing the crock behind me convinced any who weren’t in the Troll Father’s home, to gallop inside.
What could I do to stop a creature THIS resistant to anything I do!?
He ran at me with an open mouth, and I closed my eyes. He was Much faster than me on foot.
“Fuck You Bo’Ek!” screamed Grihk, coming to my aid.
\[Rah ra rah rawr-\] the crock was cut off.
“Oh shut up!” A club was slammed on the top of the crock’s head, and I watched two giants… two Literal giants fight in the front yard.
I stood there healing, standing next to an 8 foot purple woman… Blow for blow they shook the earth.
“You aren’t too hurt, are you?” Asked Jix. “I’m Jixxia, the Troll Mother.” She pricked her finger, and put it on my arm… It was *instantly* healed.
Faster than magic, the regeneration of pureblood trolls is legendary.
I felt like a new woman.
We shook wrists, and when I released my hand, a small satchel of herbs was in it.
“I heard about your trial. I don’t care if we lost any, you lost your arm trying to protect my little ones.” She beamed. “I bet Dolly was the only one in danger.”
“Pretty much.” I said seeing them grapple each other, slamming the crock to the ground.
“This is going to take a while. Go on ahead and take this to lord Kaizen. The Moon Goddess’s realm is that way.” She pointed.
With that, I flew, zipping across the sky until I saw the grass turn silver… and I heard the howling of wolves.
But… the silver didn’t look as *shiny* as I imagined it. The sheep damn near glittered… but this place became duller and duller until I came to an intricate solid silver gate. It had to be a thousand feet high, with the double-doors holding crescent moons. The barrier was clear, with a slight gray tint, and the other side looked… dead…
I’d seen the First Wolf before, but I don’t think I’d ever been intimidated by him… Theo was smart enough to see him and steer clear in the past, but now I had to speak with this ancient.
\[Come no closer, blood of my blood.\] He said firmly, but…. I could understand such an old language without help.
/….Time to abuse our bloodline./ Theo rubbed her little wing-hands together.
/THEO!/ I chastised.
/WHAT?! Like you weren’t thinking it too!/ She huffed.
He looked at me as if I were an amusing child.
“Wait Lord Grendel, grandfather of the Charred.” I landed, shifting, then bowing my head. I’m glad for the robes. This side of the In-between was cold… the whoosh of the gates being opened whipped the wind on my back.
“How goes life this time, little one?” He asked nicely, pressing his enormous nose on the top of my head. “Does Heidi do well?”
“She does. And I’m married to a man who chose me twice.” I smiled.
“I heard about that….. but I am hesitant to allow you entry, she who holds the master’s crest, not the mistress.” He said with flaming eyes. “Give me a reason to trust your intention little one.”
“I have only come to aid Kaizen, my cousin.” I said honestly.
“He tries too… alright. Give your word in blood that you only wish to aid Kaizen, little grandchild, and none will do harm.”
I did, and he let me pass.
I blinked, seeing a vision of what started this…
I saw what happened through the Moon Goddess’s eyes, and I shed tears as I watched. Grindel stood there stoically… He may be only the wolf, but I know the look of shame when I see it. He was ashamed he was not able to be of aid, being her Herald.

“I will rend your guts across this floor if you touch my grandchild!” Screamed my mate… he was livid. The boom of his voice made thunder in the In-between, while Arviel made the lightning. “You did not WANT THEM!” Roared my mate, already off his throne in the pantheon…
“They hold MY blood too! MY LIGHT resides in the boy. Give him to Me, or give me back my energy. He steals a blessing meant for Herculian’s line!” Yelled father… he held no rights to our children…he disowned me. I was beaten for my sons, thrown in a cage and starved eons.
…and what little light my grandchild inherited came from *me*….
Yet… a proverbial frog was in my throat. To say that to my father’s face would make this worse.
I would not be here if not for my little wolves’ love…. But I could not find the voice to speak up.
