Chapter 123 Came to the Door!

"You just gonna sit there while I change?" I asked, feeling a bit awkward.

David glanced at the sofa he was lounging on, then back at me, totally unfazed. "Am I in your way or something?" he replied.

I blushed and pointed to the door, getting a bit annoyed. "Get out, I need to change."

David chuckled. "Diana, we've known each other for over twenty years. What haven't I seen? I even know about that mole on your left butt cheek."

I covered my mouth, both embarrassed and angry, and grabbed a pillow to throw at him. He caught it easily and tossed it back onto the bed.

"Relax. Who cares about your body anyway?" he said, shrugging.

"Fine, you don't care, right?" I was so mad I started unbuttoning my shirt right in front of him.

"Are you serious?" he stammered, his face turning red. Seeing I was really undressing, he quickly backed out to the door.

But I called out to him. "David!"

"What?" he stopped at the door, but kept his head turned away.

"Where's my phone?" I asked, my voice softening.

David sighed in relief. "It's charging in the living room. Don't worry about your messages." With that, he left the bedroom.

I didn't get why David said that, but when I finished changing and came out, there were several dishes on the dining table. David was at the kitchen door, whining like a kid. "No way, Wren, you make all this good food for her. Why do I only get sandwiches? Who's paying your salary here?"

Wren waved a spatula at him, shooing him out of the kitchen. "When you get married, I'll cook for you every day too."

The usually arrogant David from the Wilson Family was chased out by Wren, and he wasn't even mad, grabbing a piece of cod cake on his way out. Watching them, I felt a pang of envy.

The Howard family was always so strict. In the Howard Mansion, the hierarchy between master and servant was rigid. Even in the Howard Villa where we young folks lived, Melissa wouldn't dare joke with Edward like that. Turned out, a family needed laughter to feel warm.

The next second, a loud, urgent knock on the door snapped me back to reality. The noise startled both David and Wren. Wren quickly handed a dish to David and hurried to open the door, muttering, "Are you crazy, knocking so hard this early? You wanna die?"

David took the dish, placed it on the table, and sat down, starting to eat like nothing happened.

"Who are you, sir? How can you just barge in?" The chubby Wren tried to stop the tall, strong Edward, but he easily pushed her aside. Wren's face showed shock and anger, and she let out a cry.

Seeing Wren pushed down, David stood up, glaring at Edward. "Edward, this is my house; what do you want?" he demanded, his voice a mix of anger and authority.

Edward was furious, his face red, eyes wide, teeth grinding. "Your house? I want to know why my wife is in your house," he spat out.

"Edward, don't get the wrong idea," I quickly said, my face a mix of anxiety and helplessness.

"Diana, why did you post those things online? Do you know my father was so angry he ended up in the hospital?" Edward cut me off, his tone full of anger and accusation.

I was momentarily confused and said, "What did I post?" I really didn't know what he was talking about, and his accusations annoyed me. "I don't know what you're talking about. I don't want to deal with you."

"What right do you have to refuse me?" Edward was even more furious, almost shouting, looking like he wanted to kill me.

David stood up to calm things down, placing one hand firmly on the table. A slight smile crossed his face as he said to Edward in a gentle but firm tone, "Edward, I suggest you get your facts straight before accusing her."

"My business with my wife is none of your concern," Edward rudely interrupted David again, his tone strong and domineering. He rushed to me, grabbed my wrist, and yanked me up from the chair. I was caught off guard, stumbling into his arms, feeling both panicked and wronged.

David stared coldly at Edward, a mocking smile on his lips. "Edward, so you came to my house for Diana. Since you can't take care of her, I don't mind doing it for you." With that, he grabbed my other wrist and pulled me hard, making me crash into his solid chest, causing a dull pain.

With those words, I knew David was provoking Edward.

"You better know your place." Edward clearly didn't expect David to oppose him, his eyes wide with anger. He yanked me back hard. I was tossed back and forth between them like a puppet, my hair becoming a mess.

When David tried to grab me again, I urgently made a stop gesture with both hands in front of my chest, shouting, "Enough, you two are pulling me back and forth; what do you think I am?"

Instantly, the atmosphere in the room seemed to drop to freezing point, suffocatingly oppressive.

"This is none of your business." They both shouted at me almost simultaneously. I didn't expect them to have such "tacit understanding" at this moment, almost making me laugh, but the situation was too serious for me to laugh.

Seeing my somewhat gloating expression, Edward was even more furious. "Diana, where were you last night? Who were you with?" he asked.

I didn't expect him to target me suddenly, and my expression became unnatural. I stood there blankly, my thoughts drifting back to yesterday. I remembered not only leaving Edward alone on the cold hospital floor, but also the helpless look on his face, which was still vivid in my mind. Then, I had a complete fallout with Anne due to a disagreement. And last night, I went drinking and even stayed at David's house, who was single. It was indeed a bit hard to explain. My mind raced, as I desperately thought of how to respond to Edward's questioning.

"Edward, don't be mad." David suddenly put on a playful smile, sarcastically saying, "Diana was with me last night; I took good care of her for you..."

Before David could finish, Edward, already furious, twisted his face and swung a punch at David's cheek. With a loud bang, blood gushed from David's nose, quickly staining half his face red, making him look somewhat grim.
