Chapter 349 Rescue Lila
The fight was still going strong when we hopped on the cargo ship.
Lucas was surrounded by a bunch of kidnappers, but he didn't even flinch. He moved like a sleek predator, making those guys look like total amateurs.
One of the kidnappers tried to grab him from the side, but Lucas was too quick. He spun around and slammed his knee into the guy's chest like a wrecking ball, sending him flying.
At the same time, Lucas fired a warning shot into the air, making the other kidnappers pause.
But as time went on, Lucas started to get tired. His moves slowed down, and his breathing got heavy. The kidnappers noticed and went in for another attack.
The guy Lucas had kneed earlier saw his chance and slashed Lucas's shoulder with a knife. Blood soaked through Lucas's white shirt in no time.
Lucas staggered, almost falling into the sea. Before he could steady himself, another kidnapper kicked his knee, knocking him to the ground. Despite the pain, Lucas held onto his gun, scanning the area with sharp eyes.
Just then, two men in black appeared out of nowhere. They moved fast and with purpose, charging at the kidnappers without a second thought.
The two were in perfect sync. One disarmed a kidnapper aiming at Lucas, while the other used the distraction to take the kidnapper down with precise moves. They dodged attacks with ease, their strikes clean and efficient, leaving the kidnappers no chance to recover.
Under the relentless assault of the two men in black, the kidnappers started to lose their footing.
Watching these unexpected allies, I had a million questions.
Alaric and Lucas sensed something was up too. As we made our way to the small boat where Lila was held, we exchanged looks.
Alaric whispered, "Who are these guys? Why are they helping us?"
A thought crossed my mind, and I whispered back, "Could it be Nicholas? These two fight like his men."
Lucas nodded, looking thoughtful. "It's possible. Besides my dad, I can't think of anyone else who'd help us at such a crucial moment."
Taking advantage of the kidnappers' distraction, we quickly headed toward where Lila was being held.
One of the kidnappers spotted us and aimed his gun. In a split second, Lucas tackled him to the ground, sending his gun flying.
The kidnapper struggled desperately, flailing his arms to grab something to fight back. Lucas pinned him down, eyes blazing with fury, and shouted, "You're not getting away today!"With that, he socked the kidnapper in the face, knocking him out cold.
The men in black had already taken care of the other kidnappers. One of them walked over, gave a slight bow, and said in a deep voice, "We're here on Mr. Jackson's orders to assist."
My hunch was right. Grateful, I said, "Thank Mr. Jackson for me. If you hadn't shown up, I don't know what would've happened. Take these guys back and get some answers out of them."
The man in black nodded and led the kidnappers away.
Alaric helped me as we rushed to where Lila was being held.
When we found her, the sight was both heartbreaking and infuriating. Lila's clothes were torn, barely covering her. Her hair was a tangled mess, and she was huddled in a corner of the cabin, shaking with fear.
Her eyes were filled with terror and despair. When she saw us, she screamed and tried to shrink further into the corner.
Lucas's eyes reddened instantly. He tried to rush to Lila, but I held him back, whispering, "Don't scare her."
I crouched down and said softly, "Lila, it's us. We're here to rescue you."
But Lila didn't seem to hear. She just trembled and screamed, trying to hide.
We all realized she had likely been brutally assaulted.
Lucas's eyes filled with rage. He turned and stormed over to the kidnappers, grabbing one by the collar and lifting him off the ground. "Who? Who did this to her?"
The kidnapper turned pale, lips trembling, but he didn't speak.
Lucas tightened his grip, almost growling, "You better talk, or I'll kill you right here!"
He drew his gun from his waist.
Terrified, the kidnapper wet himself. Another kidnapper stammered, "It was our leader. He enjoys doing this."
Lucas's eyes blazed with fury. He threw the kidnapper down and kicked the one who spoke, roaring, "Who's your leader? Where is he?"
The kidnapper writhed in pain, clutching his side, and cried, "It's Lanny. He ran to the stern when he heard the gunshots. Please, spare me!"
Lucas turned to rush to the stern, but I stopped him. "Lucas, let's get Lila out of here first. Find a safe place, then we can deal with Lanny."
Lucas hesitated, looking at the terrified Lila. Clenching his fists, he took a deep breath and said, "Fine, we'll get her out first. But Lanny won't escape. Don't call the police. I'll handle him myself."
With the men in black escorting us, we headed for the dock. Lucas, suppressing his anger and sorrow, held Lila tightly with one arm. Lila kept her eyes shut, trembling uncontrollably.
