Chapter 324 David is Angry

Seeing the situation, Alaric and I exchanged a quick glance before rushing over to David.

I spoke softly, "David, don't worry. The doctors are doing everything they can. Fiona and the baby will be okay."

David slowly turned his head, his eyes bloodshot and tears threatening to spill over.

His lips trembled, and he was so shocked to see me that he couldn't say a word.

Alaric stepped forward, trying to comfort him. "Yeah, we're all here with you. If you need anything, just let us know."

David looked at us, his lips moving but no sound coming out. After a long pause, he finally managed to say, "Thanks. How did you guys get here?"

I sighed and said softly, "We brought Skylar for a check-up. We didn't expect to run into this. Don't worry too much, let's wait for news about Fiona together."

David stared at me blankly, not responding. After a while, he suddenly grabbed my hand. "Diana, I'm so scared. What if something happens to her and the baby?" As he spoke, he couldn't hold back his emotions any longer. Tears streamed down his face.

David's legs gave out, and he slid down the wall, sitting on the floor with his head in his hands, his body shaking.

Seeing this, Alaric quickly crouched down, gently patting his shoulder. "David, you need to stay strong. Your wife needs you now more than ever. Let's wait for good news together. Everything will be fine."

David looked up at Alaric, his lips moving but still unable to speak. He just nodded slightly.

I crouched down too, looking at David with concern, and asked softly, "What happened? How did things get so bad? Wasn't Fiona fine before?"

Under my gentle questioning, David's voice was filled with barely suppressed anger as he almost shouted, "Fiona went to negotiate with Lanny about the Cooper Group's shipment, but his men retaliated maliciously. Those bastards ran her over with a car. Now the baby is in critical condition, and the doctors say it might not survive!"

I quickly asked for more details, and David took a deep breath before continuing.

Back then, at the start of the negotiation, Fiona had firmly told Lanny, "Lanny, I'm here to tell you that the shipment held by customs is Diana's legal property. I have all the evidence, and you have no right to interfere."

Lanny leaned back in his chair, a mocking smile on his face, and replied, "Evidence? Sometimes having evidence doesn't mean much. The shipment is with customs now. Do you think it's that easy to get it back?"

Fiona didn't back down, saying firmly, "I don't care why you seized Diana's shipment. I'm warning you, return it to her, or else."Lanny sat up straight, his eyes sharp, and snorted, "Fine, you can have the shipment back if you cover the management fees listed here."

With that, he tossed a document in front of Fiona.

Fiona glanced at the document, glaring at Lanny. "This is extortion!"

Lanny shrugged nonchalantly and said, "Call it what you want. Without this payment, you won't get the shipment. And the longer it stays with customs, the higher the fees."

He laughed loudly. David was so angry he wanted to hit him.

Fiona held David back. They were at an impasse when Lanny suddenly changed his tone. "Alright, since we're all family, and Diana almost became my sister-in-law, I'll waive the fees. You can take the shipment."

Hearing this, David and Fiona were stunned. They didn't expect Lanny to give in or mention my past with David. David felt something was off but thought Lanny had a change of heart.

At that time, David calmed down and continued, "After the negotiation, Fiona and I walked out of the company together. We were relieved and happy, thinking we could celebrate with you."

He gave a bitter smile. "However, as we reached the street, a black car with no plates sped around the corner. It didn't slow down; it sped up. I was stunned, and before I could react, it collided with Fiona's stomach."

David's voice choked, his eyes filled with pain.

He punched the ground in regret. "I should have been more cautious. He agreed too easily, and his eyes were shifty. I was too blinded by my excitement to see through his trick, and now Fiona and the baby are suffering!"

As I heard this, my mind went blank, and I felt light-headed while staring at David in shock. I grabbed his arm, bombarding him with questions. "How could this happen? How could Lanny do this? Isn't he afraid of the law? Do you know who hit Fiona?"

David gritted his teeth, his eyes blazing. "The car sped off after hitting her. By the time I came to, it was gone! But I'm sure it was Lanny's men!"

"Why are you so sure?" Alaric asked, puzzled.

David looked at Alaric, speaking, "This is a family dispute. If Fiona can't have the baby, I won't get the Wilson family's key assets. Who benefits the most? Only Lanny! He's so greedy for the inheritance, and he'd do anything."

Alaric's expression grew serious. He lowered his head in thought, then looked at David and asked, "David, with things this bad, what are you going to do?"

David clenched his teeth again, his face twitching with anger, and shouted, "I won't let this go! I'll make him pay! If Fiona and the baby are okay, fine. But if anything happens to them, I'll kill him!"
