Chapter 210 These Women
After what felt like forever, Aria finally asked, "Diana, did you also join that startup reality show?"
My heart skipped a beat, but I kept my cool and replied, "What's it to you?"
Aria suddenly threw her head back and let out this loud, jarring laugh. "From now on, we're real enemies. But don't worry, I'll go easy on you. I don't want to see a tough competitor like you disappear too soon."
Then she turned to Edward, her voice all sweet and sugary. "Darling, you'll support me, right?"
"Yes," Edward said, his eyes burning as he looked straight at me. "No matter what, I'll never let you lose. To me, you'll always be the best."
I couldn't help but wonder who Edward's words were really for, but Aria was already lost in her own little world. She happily took Edward's hand, kissed it, and pouted, "I knew you were the best."
Just then, Lila's car pulled up in front of me. Seeing her, I quickly ran over and got in.
As soon as I was in the car, Lila glanced in the rearview mirror towards the party and asked, "What were you talking about with those two? You and Edward looked like you swallowed a wasp."
I gave a helpless smile and sighed, "What else? Aria was just showing off."
"Why didn't you just hit her?" Lila asked, her eyes sparkling with interest.
"What?" I was taken aback and looked at her in confusion.
Lila said seriously, "I mean, why didn't you hit Aria for taking your husband?"
I frowned and retorted, "What do you mean taking my husband? Edward and I didn't split because of her."
Lila suddenly asked, "If Edward didn't have all these women around him, would you get back together with him?"
I sighed and said, "Probably not. I can't tell if Edward ever truly loved me. Besides, he's always had women around him. Even before Aria came back, there was Anne."
Hearing me mention Anne, Lila perked up. "Why haven't I heard you talk about her lately? Did Hayden really send her abroad?" she asked excitedly.
I patted her on the head and said, "Stop with your wild fantasies and focus on driving."
Lila huffed in dissatisfaction but didn't say anything more.
As Lila was about to step on the gas, Edward suddenly appeared out of nowhere, blocking our way at the exit.
Seeing this, Lila frowned and lowered the window, her tone icy. "Are you out of your mind? Or do you need a ride home?"
Edward's face was a mix of exhaustion and earnestness. He placed his hands on the car's hood and pleaded, "Diana, get out. We need to talk."
"Diana, don't go," Lila reacted quickly, grabbing my arm, her eyes full of anger and suspicion.
She then stuck her head out of the window and shouted at Edward, "Who do you think you are? You think you can just talk to Diana whenever you want and toss her aside whenever you please?"
Her hand was already on the ignition, ready to speed off at any moment.
But I gently placed my hand on Lila's, calming her down. She felt my touch, turned to look at me, and we shared a silent understanding.
After a moment, she took a deep breath, bit her lip, and finally nodded. I gave her a determined look, then opened the car door and stepped out.
Seeing me get out, Edward walked around the front of the car and stood in front of me.
I crossed my arms and stared coldly at him. "Say what you need to say, and make it quick."
Edward glanced at Lila in the driver's seat, his eyes showing hesitation. Lila was glaring straight ahead, completely ignoring him.
"Diana, I want to talk to you alone," Edward said, nodding towards a dimly lit, secluded area nearby.
My voice grew even colder, the words almost gritted out through my teeth, "Just say it here."
Sensing my firm stance, Edward sighed and asked, "Did you really join the reality show?"
I lifted my chin slightly and nodded. "I have nothing to hide."
Then, I stared at him sharply and raised my voice. "I'm joining the show with my own effort and sincerity, not like some people who use shady means to get what she don't deserve."
Edward frowned, looking helpless. He sighed deeply and said, "I told her the law firm can't be run like this, but she wouldn't listen. She came from a humble background and doesn't understand the complex rules of the business world."
I smirked coldly, my eyes full of disdain. "Not understanding the rules doesn't give her the right to break them. Anne made so many mistakes before, and you had to clean up after her every time. Now, Anne is gone, and Aria has taken her place. You haven't made any progress at all."
I looked at him, my disappointment clear.
Hearing this, Edward slumped his shoulders slightly, his eyes showing a sense of powerlessness. "She always acts under the title of my girlfriend. What can I do?"
I let out a short, sarcastic laugh and stared at Edward. "Didn't you give her that title? You announced your relationship in a live broadcast, right? What, are you shopping for a new girlfriend now?"
