Chapter 242 Replacing Fiona

I stared, eyes wide, totally caught off guard. "What are you saying?"

Fiona suddenly had an epiphany, covering her mouth with her hand as she let out a crisp, slightly eerie laugh. "Oh, silly me, I forgot to mention. I've got a 'brilliant' plan. Tomorrow, you're gonna marry David instead of me."

I furrowed my brows, utterly confused, my eyes filled with suspicion and wariness.

Fiona casually dragged a chair over, sat down gracefully with her legs crossed, and then began to speak. "I've told you before, there's no love between David and me. We're just pawns in this big family business game. So, why not make everyone happy? Tomorrow, you can marry David instead of me. That way, you both get what you want."

Fiona's face was full of smiles.

But I couldn't understand her smile, so I asked, "What about you?"

Fiona blinked mischievously. "Of course, I have someone I like too. Once you marry David for me, I'll pursue my own love."

As she spoke, a girlish blush appeared on her face.

I instantly realized that the man she liked was Edward.

"I know you and Edward were once married, but I don't care. Besides, I'm just as good as you in looks and family background. I can even help him more in business. This way, wouldn't everyone be happy?"

I was stunned by Fiona's wild idea and shook my head helplessly. "Edward isn't as simple as you think. Even without me, he wouldn't be with you."

Fiona seemed angered by my words and suddenly stood up, rushing to my face. "What makes you say that?"

I responded with a cold smile. "Because I know him."

Fiona nodded. "Fine, you may know him better now, but if I set my mind to it, there's nothing I can't achieve. All you need to do is show up as the bride tomorrow."

"And if I refuse?" I had no intention of backing down.

"Refuse?" Fiona sneered, her usual gentleness gone. "I suggest you think carefully about the future of the Cooper Group."

With that, Fiona strode out of the dressing room.

I knew well how difficult it was to regain control of the Cooper Group, but I didn't want it to become a weapon used against me.

The next day.

At the entrance of the wedding venue, David and Fiona's wedding photo was particularly eye-catching.

The place was packed with guests. As friends, Lila and I could only sit in the back row, while Edward, as a VIP, sat in the front row with Daniel and others. He stood out in the crowd, occasionally turning to chat with those beside him, exuding calm and confidence.

I watched David, dressed in a sharp suit, standing on stage with a smile, greeting guests. But for some reason, I sensed a hidden sadness behind his smile. I suddenly remembered the scene when David disrupted my wedding with Edward years ago. The words he said were now blurred in my memory, but the unwillingness on his face was deeply etched in my mind.

Lila noticed my change in mood and squeezed my hand. I didn't want her to worry, so I smiled and nodded at her, signaling that I was okay.

The wedding was going smoothly until it was time for the bride to make her grand entrance. The spotlight hit the entrance, and everyone turned to look, but Fiona was nowhere to be seen.

I started feeling uneasy, even wondering if I should've gone along with Fiona's crazy plan and put on the bridal gown myself.

As the wait dragged on, the guests grew restless, murmuring among themselves.

Then, the host spoke up.

"Thank you for your patience, everyone. A friend of the bride has a video to show. Let's watch it while we wait for the couple to enter."

All eyes turned to the big screen.

After a brief scenic intro, a video of David on a date with another woman started playing. The footage was clearly taken secretly, and though it wasn't very clear, it was obvious the woman wasn't Fiona.

The smiles and intimate gestures between the two were magnified on the screen, causing a wave of whispers and gasps among the guests.

The host quickly realized something was wrong and hurriedly stopped the video.

The guests were buzzing, speculating about the identity of the woman in the video. But I recognized the scenes immediately—they were of David and me meeting secretly in Verdantwood.

What I couldn't understand was who had filmed these videos and why they were being shown at David and Fiona's wedding.

The scandal was unbearable for Ronnie. He stormed onto the stage and ordered the security guards. "Seal all exits immediately. Find the person who spread this video."

Soon, the guards caught Aria trying to escape at the door.

A flash of panic crossed Aria's face, but she quickly regained her defiant look. Her gaze swept over the crowd and finally landed on me, filled with complex emotions. She sneered. "Diana, did you think you could stay out of this?"

Her voice had a slight tremor.

All eyes in the hall turned to me.

I had no choice but to walk up to Aria under everyone's gaze, looking her straight in the eye. "Aria, why did you ruin David and Fiona's wedding?"

Aria threw her head back and laughed maniacally, her laughter piercing through the murmurs in the hall.

"Why? Don't you get it?" She paused, a hint of undisguised mockery in her eyes.

"Fiona has a crush on Edward, and David has always loved you. They're not a real couple! But for the sake of their families' business, they tried to bind their companies' interests with this marriage. But Edward and David both love you! What right do you have to be loved by everyone?"

The guests were shocked, whispering among themselves about the hidden truths behind the wedding.

I was stunned, not expecting Aria's actions to be driven by jealousy. I tried to reason with her. "That's not a reason to ruin this wedding. What you're doing will destroy many lives."

Aria shook off the guard trying to hold her and screamed hysterically. "Destroy? Diana, shouldn't you be thanking me? Now everyone knows David loves you. You should be the bride today. Go up there and marry him!"
