Chapter 91 Flying to The Ends of the Earth

Oscar's idea sounded pretty solid to me, and Nolan was definitely someone I could count on in the legal world. He owned a bunch of law firms, and even though Stellar Legal Advisors was funded by David, the rest were unequivocally Nolan's, scattered all across the country.

If I chose to leave Stellar, I pondered if Nolan could secure me a position at one of his other firms. Staying in Wind City wasn't an appealing option anymore for me; any place would do. After Mia's death, I didn't really have a home anymore, so it didn't matter where I ended up. If I asked Nolan for help, I wondered if he'd be willing to set that up for me.

But I couldn't dwell on that right now because I just got a message from Theo: [Ms. Cooper, we've mostly debunked the online rumors, and we now have the upper hand in public opinion.]

Hearing this, I felt a bit relieved. Theo was super efficient, no wonder he became the CEO's secretary at such a young age without any connections.

The second message read: [However, many netizens now believe you are going through a divorce. If you and Edward could appear together in public, we would have complete control over the narrative.]

Appear with Edward? Showing up together to squash rumors of discord was definitely a good move, but even if I agreed, would Edward be willing to help me? I fell into deep thought.

Theo probably knew about the issues between Edward and me. After all, he used to be Mia's secretary, and Mia had argued with me several times about my relationship with Edward. As her close secretary, how could he not know? Apparently, Theo also felt that this matter was getting tricky, so he suggested that Edward and I team up to dispel the rumors.

Then Theo sent another message: [If it's inconvenient, we can think of other ways.]

The three messages came in quick succession, and I hadn't had time to reply. I hesitated, unsure of how to respond.

When I got back to the Howard Villa, Melissa wasn't home. I dragged my tired body through the door, and the living room lights were dim. Looking up, I saw Edward sitting alone on the couch. His head was slightly lowered, making it hard to see his expression. I was taken aback, feeling a surge of complex emotions.

I thought Anne might be hiding somewhere in the house, but after looking around, I didn't see anyone.

Edward noticed I was looking for something and got up to pin me against the door frame. "What are you looking for?"

I was embarrassed to tell him I was looking for Anne, so I smiled and said, "Nothing."

"You're looking for Anne, aren't you?" Edward leaned close to my ear, gently blowing.

"No, I'm not." I denied.

Edward snorted softly. "Diana, don't pretend. Your expression can't fool me. You don't need to look for her; she's not home."

Could Anne be with her friends, plotting how to spread information about me online?

Edward seemed to read my mind and whispered in my ear, "Anne went to stay at the Howard mansion for a few days. You don't need to be jealous of her. I'm giving you a chance now, taking you on a honeymoon."

"A honeymoon?" I was surprised, remembering that Edward had mentioned taking me on a honeymoon a few days ago. I thought he was just saying it on a whim, as he often made empty promises.

"Yes, a honeymoon. Just the two of us, going wherever you want." Edward's eyes sparkled with a smile.

"Wherever I want?" I was even more surprised.

I remembered that day when Edward asked where I wanted to go for our honeymoon, and I casually said, "The ends of the earth." I said it intending to separate, but Edward remembered it, and I felt a bit touched.

Edward was a man of action. He had already arranged the flight path, and we were leaving tonight on a private jet, just waiting for me to pack. I didn't have much to pack since everything could be bought there, so I only had a small carry-on bag. At the airport, I was surprised to see Edward with a large suitcase.

Seeing my surprised expression, Edward smiled and whispered in my ear, "This is all your battle gear and weapons. Are you satisfied now?" then he mischievously pinched my butt.

I instantly understood what he meant by "battle gear and weapons." I pinched his waist in return and whispered in his ear, "Yes. I hope you will be too."

At this moment, I didn't want to question Edward's sincerity. As he said, I just wanted to enjoy the moment.

The advantage of a private jet was that one didn't have to squeeze through security with other passengers. As soon as the driver helped us unload our luggage, the airport staff warmly greeted us. If they could, they might have carried us directly to the plane. Eventually, we were guided onto a small shuttle, passed through security, and boarded the plane.

This was my second time on this plane. The first time was four years ago when Edward and I had just gotten married, and we went on a so-called honeymoon with Anne. If that trip was a tragedy for me, then not traveling with Edward again in the past four years could be considered another tragedy. However, as our marriage was nearing its end, I had the chance to make up for this regret.

Suddenly, I felt a bit excited about the place called "The Ends of the Earth." The name itself sounded beautiful. I had dreamed countless times of running to the end of the ocean, and now it was finally going to happen. However, the thought of traveling with Edward made me feel uneasy.

The plane flew smoothly above the clouds, and sunlight streamed through the windows, casting a warm golden glow over everything.

As soon as I boarded, I asked the flight attendant for a blanket and pretended to sleep. My body was indeed tired, but my mind was too excited to sleep. I closed my eyes and listened to Edward's movements. He was still busy working on his laptop. I don't know how long it was before I fell into a deep sleep until I felt someone breathing near my ear. I reached out and touched a face.

Instantly, I was wide awake.

I opened my eyes to find Edward's face close to mine. Looking at his familiar face, I murmured, "Honey."

I turned slightly to look at Edward's handsome profile, my eyes filled with tenderness and love. He turned to me, a doting smile on his lips.

He gently tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, his touch so tender it felt like I was the most precious thing in the world. Edward's fingertips lightly brushed my cheek, sending a slight shiver through me. I leaned against his shoulder, inhaling his scent, a mix of light cologne and his unique masculine aroma, which intoxicated me.

Edward didn't say a word; he just turned my head and kissed me. His kiss was domineering. I closed my eyes, feeling his warmth, his breath, everything about him.

Once the flame of desire was ignited, it couldn't be extinguished. Edward's passion sparked a fire in me, and I passionately responded to his kiss. My body grew hotter, and I threw off the blanket covering me. Edward's hands roamed freely over my body.
