Chapter 193 Wish You Happiness

Suddenly, there was a ruckus behind me. I turned around and saw Aria gliding down the steps, holding onto Edward's arm like they were the perfect couple. She had this smug smile on her face, and her eyes met mine with a look that screamed victory.

But Edward's eyes were cold and piercing as he stared at me, making his way over to where Eric and I stood. Aria rested her head on his shoulder, and though his nostrils flared a bit, he didn't pull away.

Seeing Aria and Edward all cozy, the reporters who had been focused on Eric and me quickly shifted their attention, snapping photos like crazy.

Taking advantage of the chaos, I leaned towards Eric and whispered, "Are you really giving up all the online fame to become a gravekeeper?"

Eric nodded sadly and said, "Alice is gone. None of this attention matters anymore."

His words hit me hard, and I felt a wave of sadness. I softly replied, "Alice didn't love the wrong person."

As we talked, a bunch of bodyguards surrounded Edward and Aria, forming a human shield.

One of the big, tough-looking bodyguards stepped forward and barked at the reporters, "How dare you take photos of Mr. Howard without permission! Do you know what happens if you mess with the Howard Group? Your little websites can't handle it!"

The reporters, knowing the power of the Howard Group, reluctantly deleted their photos and packed up their gear.

A middle-aged reporter, who seemed to be the leader, forced a smile and said to Eric and me, "Ms. Cooper, Mr. Allen, we'll be leaving now." He quickly walked away, like staying any longer would spell trouble.

Eric then left silently, leaving just Lila, Edward, Aria, and me.

Edward broke the silence, his voice rough as he called my name, "Diana."

I noticed he didn't look his usual confident self; he seemed tired and worn out. As soon as Edward said my name, Aria's grip on his arm tightened, and she whispered in his ear, "Edward."

He seemed to lose some strength or maybe got some kind of signal from her. He turned to Aria and said, "Let me introduce you. This is my ex-wife." He really stressed the "ex-wife" part.

Hearing that stung, even though I was prepared for it, I still felt hurt.

Edward then turned to me and started, "This is..."

I cut him off calmly, "Aria, soon to be your wife." My calm demeanor seemed to throw Edward off. His eyes widened, clearly puzzled by how composed I was. "You knew?" he asked.

I gave a faint, sad smile. "Yeah, I knew. So, I wish you happiness."

The truth was, I knew more than just Aria becoming Edward's wife. I knew she had been scheming for the Howard family assets for a long time. Anne and I were just collateral damage in her plan. Even Edward was just a pawn in her game.

Aria, playing the delicate flower, softly said, "Diana, thank you for your blessing." She probably felt like she was on top of the world, thinking she was finally getting everything she wanted. She turned to Edward and sweetly asked, "Edward, let's get our marriage certificate today, okay?"

Edward's brow furrowed, and I saw a flash of impatience in his eyes. He tried to pull his arm back but couldn't. He seemed annoyed by Aria's persistence but didn't want to blow up. He firmly said, "I'm busy with company matters today. I only took a break this morning to handle the divorce with Diana. We'll get the marriage certificate when I have time."

Aria's face twisted with anger, but I felt a bit of satisfaction. When Edward married me, it was a grand, dreamlike event. Now, Aria was desperate to marry him but had to fit it into his schedule. Her frustration was understandable. Still, she was good at hiding her feelings. She kept her cool and softly said, "Alright, I'll take you back to the company." She held Edward's hand tightly and started to leave.

Edward's eyes stayed on me, like nothing else mattered. Even as he walked past, he kept looking back, his eyes filled with longing and guilt.

As they walked away, Lila, who had been watching everything, said, "Diana, did you see that? She's really annoying." She frowned, clearly disgusted.

I sighed and said, "I can't understand why Edward suddenly likes someone like Aria."

Lila's expression turned serious, like she had figured something out. "You wouldn't be jealous, would you?"

I scoffed and replied coldly, "Edward and I are divorced. What's there to be jealous of? The Howard and Cooper families have been close for generations. I just don't want to see the Howard family go downhill because of Edward."

Lila sighed and said earnestly, "Diana, you're too kind. After everything he's done to you, you're still thinking about him."

I gave a bitter smile and shook my head. "Forget it, let's not talk about this anymore. No point wasting energy on him. Let's celebrate tonight and leave all this behind."
