Chapter 211 Who Doesn't Want to Win?

Edward was at a loss for words, his lips trembling a bit.

"Diana, that's not what I meant," he stammered. "Since our divorce, I've realized how much you mean to me. If I had to choose a girlfriend, I'd want it to be you."

He went on, "The Howard Group is the biggest investor in this show. I can give you all the resources you need, even the final funding support."

Anger surged through me, and before I knew it, my hand had slapped Edward's cheek hard. He stood there, stunned, eyes wide with shock.

Honestly, I hadn't expected to react so impulsively.

Edward slowly touched his cheek, his expression a mix of a smile and anger.

Then he stepped forward, grabbed me with both hands, and forcefully pinched my chin, pressing my head against the car door.

The sudden situation clearly scared Lila, who was sitting in the car.

She quickly got out, hurried around to us, and tried to pull Edward away. But her slender frame was no match for him.

I was still pinned by Edward, unable to move. I stared into his eyes, burning with anger, desperately thinking of how to end this embarrassing scene.

Just then, Aria came running over, panting.

She pulled Edward's hand away and said anxiously, "Edward, I've been looking for you everywhere. I didn't expect you to be here. The driver's waiting; let's go."

Aria's timely arrival eased the tension between us.

But Edward wasn't ready to leave.

He gently took Aria's hand, placed it on his chest, and with a meaningful smile, softly asked, "Aria, do you really want to win this reality show?"

Aria looked puzzled. She tilted her head, eyes full of confusion, and replied, "Of course! Who doesn't want to win?"

Edward squinted slightly, his voice affectionate but with a hint of anger. "Alright, if that's what you want, I'll do everything I can to help you win."

Aria, not knowing what had just happened, was so excited she almost jumped up. "Really? Edward, you'll really help me win?"

Edward nodded calmly. "I keep my word. Whatever you want, I'll give it to you."

With that, he took Aria's hand and walked away.

After a short distance, Aria glanced back at us, a smug smile playing at the corner of her mouth.

Lila and I got into the car, still processing what had just happened.

Breaking the silence, Lila asked, "Diana, how did you end up at the same party with them?" Her tone was full of confusion.I took a deep breath and started explaining how I bumped into Nicholas yesterday and ended up at the party with him today.

After hearing the story, Lila couldn't help but exclaim, "Diana, you're incredible. Slapping Edward like that was so satisfying to watch."

I sighed and said, "Looks like we'll be dealing with them for a while."

Lila frowned, "What do you mean?"

Gathering my thoughts, I said, "I joined a startup reality show. We might get some unexpected resources from it, but our biggest competitor is Aria."

"Aria? She's on the show too?" Lila asked, surprised.

"Yeah," I replied. "And I just found out Edward is the biggest investor. Who knows if he'll secretly help her out."

Lila's eyes lit up, her earlier worry replaced with determination. "So what? We've lost resources to him before and still made it through. Being on the show means more opportunities for us, right?"

I nodded, agreeing. "True, more people will see our law firm through the show."

"And you're already pretty popular online. Stellar Legal Advisors and I will be your strongest support," Lila said confidently, easing my worries.

In the fast-paced world of online news, word of my participation in the reality show spread quickly. Thanks to my hard work in the streaming world, I had built a solid reputation with my skills, friendly attitude, and unique style. The news of me joining reality TV sparked a lot of buzz.

The hot topic was the complicated relationship between Aria and me—my ex-husband's current girlfriend was my competitor.

This revelation ignited public curiosity and gossip. Discussions about the show skyrocketed, making it the top trending topic and drawing everyone's attention.

For the show's producers, this high public interest was a blessing, like a guarantee for the show's ratings.

As a result, everyone from the director to the crew treated me with extra politeness and flattery. They knew that in this era, attention was everything, and the buzz and fan base I brought could be the key to the show's success.

As a lawyer, I understood the unique position of my profession in the public eye. On the TV show, we stuck to professional norms and ethics, focusing on providing legal advice and aid rather than fighting in court. Compared to actual litigation, these tasks were simpler, testing our knowledge of the law, clarity in communication, and ability to interact with the audience.
