Chapter 363 Shared Interests

Anne's eyes lit up as she shot David a playful grin, her voice dripping with sweetness. "I'm eyeing that commercial land the Wilsons own on the east side of Wind City. I hear it's prime real estate. If we build a mall there, it'll be super fancy. I'll have my own shopping paradise!"

My heart sank, and I quickly glanced at David. Sure enough, he looked worried.

I knew that land was crucial to the Wilson family's future plans. Giving it up would make their development nearly impossible. But with the Wilson family in such a precarious position, they couldn't afford to offend Nicholas.

David hesitated for a moment before speaking with difficulty. "Mr. Jackson, that land is vital to the Wilson family's future business transformation and development. Could we perhaps find another way? Maybe we could offer you a substantial financial return or other equivalent assets once this is over?"

Nicholas's face clouded over, and his tone grew frosty. "David, I don't think you understand the situation. You're the one asking for my help. The terms I've proposed are already quite generous. If you find it difficult, then let's just forget about it."

The atmosphere grew tense, and just then, the club's door burst open, drawing everyone's attention.

Lucas burst in, his face flushed with anger. He marched directly up to David, pointing a finger at his nose and shouting, "David, how dare you come here begging! My wife was ruined by Lanny, and your Wilson family is utterly heartless!"

David was taken aback by the sudden outburst and instinctively stepped back, his face full of guilt.

He said, "Lucas, I know Lanny's actions are unforgivable. I'm here today to try to make amends, I..."

"Make amends? Do you think this kind of pain can be compensated?" Lucas's face was flushed with rage, cutting David off before he could explain.

Lucas continued, "She lives in constant pain and fear, waking up from nightmares every night, haunted by those horrific scenes. The Wilson family must pay!"

Nicholas's face turned grim as he scolded, "Lucas, what do you think you're doing? This is not the place for you to throw a tantrum!"

Lucas turned to Nicholas, tears welling up in his eyes. "Dad, how can you sit here negotiating with them? Lila is your daughter-in-law, and you're just going to let the Wilson family off so easily? I don't understand. Do you care more about business than your family's pain? Is profit all that matters to you, even at the expense of Lila's suffering?" His voice choked with emotion.

I knew Lila's ordeal genuinely shook him.

Nicholas's expression grew complicated as he was questioned by Lucas.

After a long silence, he finally spoke slowly, "I have my reasons. You need to calm down. This situation is too complex to be resolved by simply destroying the Wilson family. The business landscape is intricate, and we need to plan carefully. Inviting David here today was an attempt to resolve things properly."His tone was firm, but Lucas wasn't having any of it.

Lucas shot back, "Resolve things properly? Destroying the Wilson family is the only way to give Lila justice! You say we need to plan carefully, but I think you're just greedy for the Wilson family's assets, ignoring Lila's feelings!"

Lucas wasn't backing down. He stepped forward, staring Nicholas down, waiting for a satisfactory answer.

David stood by with his head down, biting his lip while his hands clenched and unclenched. I could see he was in torment.

Anne, sensing an opportunity, chimed in, "Lucas is right. The Wilson family deserves to be taught a lesson."

She then glanced at David with a smug smile.

But Lucas shot Anne a furious look and said, "You have no right to speak here. Stop causing trouble!"

Anne's face turned red as she hurried behind Nicholas, muttering, "I was only trying to help. You're so ungrateful."

I sat in the corner of the club, casually swirling a glass of red wine, looking relaxed but fully aware of the tense situation unfolding.

I glanced at Jeffrey, who had been quietly observing from a nearby sofa. His arms were crossed, and his eyes held a hint of amusement, as if he were watching an entertaining play. A faint smile played on his lips.

As the tension reached its peak, Jeffrey finally spoke up, his voice filled with impatience. "What's with all the shouting? This is ridiculous!"

His sharp tone cut through the noise, instantly silencing the room.

I admired Jeffrey's ability to take control at critical moments. I was curious to see how he would break the deadlock.

Nicholas turned to Jeffrey, his eyes showing a mix of expectation and appreciation.

He said, "Today's situation is indeed tricky. You always have a sharp mind and a clear view of the business landscape. What do you suggest we do?"

Jeffrey, arms still crossed, calmly laid out his thoughts. "The Wilson family's land in the east of Wind City is in a prime location, surrounded by major transport hubs, with great potential for future development. But the Wilson family is currently struggling and can't develop it, wasting this valuable asset."

Jeffrey stood up and walked over to David.

He continued, "In my opinion, we should use the Wilson family's commercial land in Wind City as the core asset to establish a new business partnership. Everyone can hold shares according to their investment, sharing risks and profits. This way, we can save the Wilson Group's assets and create a win-win situation for everyone. What do you think, Mr. Wilson?"

As soon as Jeffrey finished, Anne's previously bored expression lit up.

She excitedly grabbed Nicholas's arm and said, "Nicholas, listen to this! It's a great idea! If we build a mall, I'll have so much fun shopping!"

David met Jeffrey's gaze and nodded eagerly, his tone urgent. "Mr. Adams, your proposal is a lifesaver. The Wilson family will fully cooperate and follow all arrangements!"
