Chapter 178 Where is Edward?

Anne clung to Edward's chest like a scared kitten, tears streaming down her face. Edward's eyes blazed with anger as he yelled at the doctor, "Can't you see her wrist is hurt too? If this ambulance can't fit everyone, can't you send another one?"

The doctor glanced at Anne's wrist, snorted, and slammed the ambulance door shut without a word.

As the ambulance sped towards the hospital, I felt myself getting colder. While the doctors frantically worked on me, Edward spoke up again, "Doctor, there's another patient here. Please treat her too."

The doctor paused and then said slowly, "We treat based on the severity of injuries. Please don't interrupt our work."

Edward's face tightened as he looked at Anne's wound. He shouted, "You need to take this seriously. She has a rare blood type. If this wound isn't treated right, it could be a big problem!"

Hearing about the rare blood type, the doctor got serious. He examined Anne's wrist carefully, frowning. He snorted, "That wound? If it's treated a bit later, it might heal on its own." But his actions became more urgent.

I almost laughed at the doctor's words, but I was too weak. After a moment of silence, Anne cried out, "I have a rare blood type. If anything happens to me, you'll pay for it. No one in your hospital will have a good time!"

Her outburst made the doctor's face darken, and the nurses exchanged worried looks, making the atmosphere even tenser. Reluctantly, the doctor told a nearby nurse, "Bandage her up first," and then continued working on me.

Due to the urgency, the ambulance headed to the nearest hospital instead of Howard Group's Brightlight Hospital. I was quickly wheeled into the operating room.

Inside the operating room, the tension was palpable. The doctors had serious expressions as they prepared for surgery. The lead surgeon frowned as he checked the instrument readings, while the assistant meticulously arranged the surgical tools.

They were extremely cautious because I had just been in a severe accident, leaving my body very weak. The miscarriage had caused a series of unstable conditions, and there was a high risk of massive bleeding during the surgery, which could be life-threatening if not handled carefully.

This was going to be a tough and dangerous operation. I lay quietly on the operating table, the bright surgical lights glaring down, making my eyes hurt. But the physical pain was nothing compared to the emotional agony. Losing my child left me feeling utterly empty and weak, yet my mind was painfully clear.

It was a cruel and tragic reality that my child was killed by his father, all because of my own careful planning. How I wished this was just a terrible dream and that I'd wake up to find my baby still safe. But the relentless pain in my abdomen was a harsh reminder that every bit of this nightmare was real.

Suddenly, fear hit me like a ton of bricks. I was terrified of all the unknown risks of the surgery. What if something went wrong? What if I could never be a mom, just like Aria? But amidst all this fear, one thing I strangely stopped worrying about was whether Edward would become even colder towards me.

My mind was a mess, the thoughts like daggers cutting my heart. In the cold and loneliness, all I could do was silently pray, hoping fate would cut me some slack.

The anesthesiologist slowly injected the anesthetic, and I felt myself drifting off.

Meanwhile, Edward and Anne were sitting in the hallway outside the operating room. Anne, with her head down and her wrist bandaged, still looked pale.

Anne, crying, said, "It's all my fault. If it weren't for me, Diana wouldn't have..."

Edward held her tightly, comforting her, "Anne, it's not your fault. It was just an accident. Diana will be fine."

Anne's tears flowed again as she asked, "But Edward, I'm really scared. Is Diana's baby gone? She wanted that baby so much."

Edward took a deep breath and replied, "It's okay. She can still have children. But how could you do this to yourself? You have a rare blood type. If anything happens to you, how can I explain it to Mom and Dad?"

When I slowly woke up from the anesthesia, the first thing I saw was Lila by my bedside. Seeing me awake, she quickly got up to call the doctor. Before the doctor arrived, she held my cold hand tightly, her eyes full of worry and anxiety, and said excitedly, "Diana, you scared me to death. What happened?"

I sighed slightly and calmly explained, "I was planning to talk to Anne to gather evidence of her framing me and hurting Aria. But it led to a conflict, and Edward pushed me to the ground, resulting in this."

"It was really Edward!" Lila's eyes widened in disbelief. "How could he hurt you?" she said.

I smirked coldly, a hint of self-mockery in my eyes. "Compared to his beloved Anne, what am I? When Anne and I had a conflict, she grabbed a knife from a waiter to commit suicide. Edward, to save Anne, pushed me without hesitation."

I paused, instinctively looking around, and asked, "Where's Edward? Why isn't he here?"

Lila frowned slightly, showing a bit of difficulty, and said softly, "Anne had some minor injuries but insisted on being hospitalized. But her condition didn't warrant hospitalization, so the doctor didn't admit her. Then he left with Anne. Clearly, Anne is more important to him."

I smiled helplessly, the smile no longer bitter but full of relief.

"Diana, aren't you angry at all?" Lila stared at me in surprise, not expecting such a reaction from me.

I shook my head lightly and said with some effort, "No, why should I be angry? You've seen his attitude towards me. The baby is gone anyway. This time, I must divorce him."

Lila nodded blankly, suddenly remembering something, and said, "Oh, right. While you were unconscious, Hayden and Clara came by."
