Chapter 431 I Want to Go Too

After deciding to go to the charity gala with Edward, the days that followed were a mix of work and eager anticipation for the event.

That afternoon, sunlight filtered through the sheer curtains, casting a gentle glow in the living room. I sat on the couch, flipping through work documents, but my mind was already drifting to the gala that evening. The crisp sound of the doorbell broke the tranquility of the house.

I got up and walked to the door, opening it to see Edward's tall figure standing there.

The moment I saw him, my heart skipped a beat. He was dressed in a sharp black suit, the tailored fit perfectly accentuating his tall frame. His white shirt was crisp and clean, paired with an elegant tie, simple yet sophisticated. I knew then that the Edward who once dominated the business world was back.

"Hey Diana, this is for you," he said, smiling gently, his eyes full of warmth.

Before I could invite him in, a small figure darted out of the room like a flash of lightning.

"Daddy!"

Skylar squealed with excitement, launching herself at Edward.

Edward quickly freed one hand to catch her, his face beaming with a doting smile.

"My sweet girl, did you miss me?"

Skylar hugged Edward's neck tightly, nodding vigorously, her eyes sparkling with joy. "I missed you so much! Daddy, why did you come suddenly? And you brought a gift for Mommy?"

Edward, holding Skylar in his arms, walked into the living room. "I brought your mom a beautiful dress. Tonight, she'll be the most stunning princess."

Skylar's eyes widened with excitement, clapping her hands and wriggling in Edward's arms. "What about me? Can I be a little princess too?"

I looked at Skylar's lively expression and smiled indulgently. "You already are my little princess."

Edward set Skylar down and walked over to me, a hint of anticipation in his eyes. "Diana, open it and see if you like it. If the size isn't right, I'll have it altered immediately."

I opened the dress box, revealing a form-fitting royal blue gown.

Sunlight streamed onto the dress, and the tiny crystals embedded in the fabric came to life. Each crystal acted like a miniature prism, breaking and recombining the light into a dazzling display. As I moved, the crystals shimmered like the surface of a sparkling lake, mesmerizing and dreamlike.

"So beautiful!" Skylar was already captivated by the dress. She looked up at me with her flushed little face, full of undisguised delight, tugging at my clothes and asking eagerly, "Mommy, can I touch it?"

I smiled and nodded, granting her request.

With permission, Skylar immediately reached out her soft little hands, gently sliding them over the crystals on the dress. "Wow, it's so pretty! Mommy, you'll definitely be the most beautiful princess tonight!"

A child's eyes are always bright and full of wonder for beautiful things.

"It's gorgeous, thank you," I said sincerely.

Edward stepped closer, as if sharing a secret from his heart. "As long as you like it. I've imagined you wearing it, and I knew you'd be breathtaking."

His warm breath brushed against my ear, making my cheeks flush. My breathing quickened, reminiscent of the first time I felt my heart race for him. His every move exuded a unique charm that I couldn't look away from.

Edward's intense gaze was fixed on me as he gently picked up the dress. "Diana, try it on. I can't wait to see you in it."

I nodded slightly and took the dress to the bedroom. The fabric was soft and cool to the touch. As I closed the door, my heart pounded. When I finally adjusted the dress and stood before the mirror, I was stunned. The royal blue gown hugged my figure perfectly, as if it were made just for me. The crystals sparkled under the bedroom light, just as dazzling.

Taking a deep breath, I slowly opened the bedroom door. Edward, who had been playing with Skylar on the couch, turned sharply at the sound. His gaze locked onto me, filled with awe and admiration. Skylar jumped off the couch and ran to my side, clapping her hands and shouting, "Mommy, you look so beautiful!"

Edward stood up, walking towards me with slow, deliberate steps. He circled me, his eyes never leaving me, murmuring, "I knew you'd look stunning in it."

He stopped in front of me, lowering his head slightly to meet my eyes. "Diana, tonight you'll be the center of attention. I'm so lucky to be going with you." His voice was so tender it could melt, carrying a mesmerizing charm.

Blushing at his straightforward compliment, I stammered, "You're exaggerating. It's just a pretty dress."

Despite my words, my heart felt sweet as honey.

Edward gently lifted my chin, making me meet his gaze again. His eyes held not just admiration, but deep affection and love.

Edward released me, his eyes full of reluctance but also anticipation for the evening ahead.

Skylar looked between Edward and me, her eyes shining with excitement. "Daddy looks so handsome, and Mommy is so beautiful, like a king and queen! I want to pick a pretty dress too, to be as beautiful as Mommy."

With that, Skylar started to run towards the closet.

Edward, smiling, gently knelt down and opened his arms to catch her. "Sweet Skylar, your mom and I are going to a very important charity gala tonight, where many people will be helping others. You need to stay home and be good for Melissa, okay?"

"No, I want to go too!" Skylar pouted, starting to whine and wriggle in Edward's arms, clutching his collar tightly. "I want to do good things with you and Mommy. I promise I won't cause any trouble."
