Chapter 355 Good News

Hearing those words, I felt a jolt of shock, but I kept a polite smile plastered on my face. Inside, though, I was getting more anxious by the second.

I clenched my fists subtly, thinking, 'What does he mean by that? Is he going to bring up our past relationship? If Harvey finds out, my reputation and the Cooper Group's standing with him could be ruined, and this deal might fall apart completely.'

I took a deep breath, trying to keep my voice steady. "Mr. Adams, you're too kind. It was just a simple conversation."

As I spoke, I instinctively watched Harvey's expression, afraid to miss any hint of his reaction.

Harvey looked at me with interest and said, "Really? I didn't realize Ms. Cooper had such a background. It seems the Cooper Group is full of talent."

Jeffrey continued, "Indeed. Just from how Ms. Cooper handled the recent shipping delay crisis, you can see her capability. I firmly believe continuing our partnership with the Cooper Group is a wise decision."

My anxiety eased a little, but I still didn't feel safe enough to relax completely; I remained vigilant for any sudden shifts in the conversation.

Harvey nodded. "I trust your judgment and the Cooper Group's strength. After discussing with the company's top management, we've decided to drop the lawsuit and proceed with the final payment as per the contract."

In that moment, it felt as if a powerful jolt had coursed through my brain, leaving it empty and my thoughts completely frozen.

The world seemed to quiet down, with only his words echoing and reverberating in my mind.

I instinctively took a small step forward, hoping that would help me understand Harvey's words more clearly.

After a moment, I found my voice again. "Mr. Grant, thank you so much! This is a tremendous support for the Cooper Group, and we will cherish this opportunity for collaboration."

I tried to calm my racing heart, but the smile on my face was uncontrollable, spreading from the corners of my mouth to my entire face.

I glanced up discreetly, carefully observing Harvey's expression. He wore a sincere smile as he said, "Ms. Cooper, this is not just a recognition of you personally, but also an expectation for future cooperation. We hope to have more collaborations with the Cooper Group and explore broader markets together."

I responded firmly, "Mr. Grant, rest assured; this experience has made us understand the importance of responsibility even more. In future collaborations, we will give our all and not let you down!"

After the meeting, Harvey and I shook hands warmly to say goodbye.

Jeffrey also stepped forward to shake my hand, lowering his voice so only I could hear. "Don't worry; the past is the past."

I nodded slightly, letting out a long breath.

I finally believed that all of this was real, not a fleeting dream. All the worries, anxieties, and countless efforts over this period had culminated in the most perfect and satisfying reward.

I needed to share this good news with Lila as soon as possible, so I hurried to the hospital.

Clutching the document in my hand that confirmed Harvey's agreement to pay the final installment and drop the lawsuit, I couldn't help but smile at the thought of bringing this news to Lila in her hospital bed.As I reached the door of her room, I heard faint voices through the crack. The soft, heavy tones echoed in the quiet hallway, making my heart tighten. I took a deep breath to steady myself and gently pushed the door open.

Lila lay pale on the bed, her eyes vacant and gazing out the window, appearing completely indifferent to her surroundings. When she caught sight of me entering, she only gave me a brief glance before turning her attention back to the window.

Lachlan and Jessa sat nearby, their faces full of worry. Jessa, in particular, had lost her usual elegance, with a few new wrinkles adding to her appearance.

"Mr. Green, Mrs. Green, hello!" I broke the heavy atmosphere, greeting Lachlan and Jessa.

They turned to me, their eyes showing fatigue and helplessness, forcing a smile in response.

"Lila! Look what I have here!" I quickly walked to Lila's bedside, holding out the folder with the collaboration documents.

At first, Lila looked at it with indifference, her eyes devoid of any emotion, before turning her gaze back to the window.

Undeterred, I raised my voice. "Good news! Mr. Grant agreed to pay the final installment and drop the lawsuit!"

Lila's once-dull eyes suddenly sparkled with surprise as she stared at me before gradually shifting her gaze to the folder. She reached out with a slightly weak hand, slowly opening the folder. As she read the lines, her eyes quickly filled with tears, which soon spilled over, running down her pale cheeks and soaking the paper.

I continued, "With this crisis resolved, the company's reputation with Mr. Grant has not only remained intact but has even improved. We're planning to expand more overseas business, and we'll need your legal expertise more than ever."

Lila's voice was weak and tinged with helplessness. "Diana, really? But even if this crisis is resolved, my health..."

Hearing this, Lachlan quickly interjected, "Lila, don't think like that. You've always been strong. With proper treatment, you'll get better. Diana is counting on you to help her."

Jessa chimed in, "Yes, sweetheart, get well soon. We're all looking forward to things being like they used to be."

I held Lila's hand firmly, saying, "Lila, Mr. Green and Mrs. Green are right. The company has successfully navigated this challenge, and so will your health. Concentrate on your recovery, and once you're out of here, we'll elevate the company to new heights together!"

I realized I hadn't seen Lucas since arriving at the hospital, so I asked, "Where's Lucas?"

Looking around, I said, "Lucas was your hero. His bravery during the crisis was truly admirable. Everyone can see how much he cares for you. You need to get better and not let him down."

Lila gave a faint, bitter smile and shook her head.

She said, "He's great, and he's really dedicated to that tech project right now. He's probably working. But in my current state, how can I be worthy of someone so focused on his work?"

I patted her hand, encouraging her. "Don't think like that. We will all be here for you."
