Chapter 184 Edward, are you crazy?
Sure enough, just like the madam said, Edward was totally wasted and out cold. He was sprawled out on the couch, looking like a mess. One hand dangled off the edge, and the other was still clutching an empty glass. The coffee table in front of him was littered with empty bottles, a testament to his wild night.
On either side of the couch, there were two rows of women, all drop-dead gorgeous, adding a unique "scenery" to the fancy room. The crystal chandelier above cast a dazzling light, bouncing off the empty bottles and creating a blinding glare.
I frowned a bit, leaned in, and asked the madam quietly, "Out of all these prostitutes, he didn't like a single one?"
The madam sighed, shook her head with a bitter smile, and shrugged. "These women aren't prostitutes; they're guests of the club, all from respectable families."
I smirked, but my eyes were full of doubt. "How did girls from respectable families end up in Edward's room?"
The madam started to explain, "I had arranged for a few beautiful women to entertain Mr. Howard, but he totally refused. Even when these guests came in, Mr. Howard was still not satisfied. Now I understand that no one can compare to Mrs. Howard's beauty."
Maybe the madam was trying to butter me up, but she was pretty bad at it. I scoffed inwardly, finding it funny that someone in this line of work for so long couldn't even give a proper compliment. I wondered how she managed with her clients.
Edward heard my voice and slowly opened his eyes. When he saw it was really me standing there, he rubbed his eyes and sat up straight. "Diana, you're here. I knew you couldn't stay away from me. I didn't expect you to find me even here." He laughed loudly, but in the quiet room, it sounded especially eerie.
The atmosphere got super awkward. Everyone except Edward knew that the staff had called me because he was drunk and shouting for me. But in Edward's mind, he thought I came because I couldn't stay away from him. Everyone found it amusing, but no one dared to laugh in front of Edward.
"Come over here, let's drink." Edward raised his glass and waved it at me, then staggered over and suddenly grabbed my waist. With a slight force, Edward pulled me tightly into his arms.
"Enough!" I cut him off. "Look at yourself, acting like a reckless madman. Do you want to throw away your dignity and become a laughingstock?"
Edward had never been hit with such sharp words before. His eyes widened in anger, and it seemed like the booze was burned away by his fury. He roared, "How dare you speak to me like that!"
Enraged, he suddenly hurled his glass to the ground, the shattering sound breaking the silence of the room. He wrapped one arm around my waist and gripped my chin tightly with the other hand. I could feel the coldness and tremble of his fingers.
Filled with anger, I struggled desperately, trying to break free from his grip. But his arms were like iron clamps, holding me tightly against him, making it impossible for me to move.
I could feel his body changing; his lower half becoming tense and rigid, making me uncomfortable. "Edward, are you crazy?" I tried to lower my voice, leaning close to his ear to scold him.
"Yes, I'm crazy, Diana. I want to have children with you." With that, he forcefully kissed my lips.
My anger flared up instantly. I used all my strength to struggle, but his strength was too great, and each struggle only made his grip tighter, forcing me to stay pressed against him. I could clearly hear his heavy breathing in my ear, filled with the smell of alcohol and a madness that frightened me.
I tried to push him away with all my might, but even drunk, the difference in strength between a man and a woman made it impossible for me to break free. "Help me!" I cried out to the people around us, but instead of helping, they exchanged glances and gradually left the room.
In an instant, the room was empty except for Edward and me. A strong sense of humiliation surged within me, but I was helpless. Just as I was feeling desperate, a loud noise came from the door.
I turned to see David bursting through the door, rushing towards Edward and me. I wanted to call out for help, but Edward's lips sealed my mouth, and I could only make muffled sounds. I watched as David reached us and kicked Edward. The force of the kick made Edward lose his balance and fall to the ground.
Soon, the alcohol-numbed Edward regained his senses. Like an enraged beast, he quickly got up from the ground, his eyes bloodshot and teeth clenched, swinging his fist with a whooshing sound, aiming it viciously at David's face.
My heart was pounding in my chest as I screamed at the top of my lungs, "David, watch out!"
