Chapter 228 Bleeding

I struggled and yelled, "It's you!"

Lanny was sitting on the edge of the bed, drying his hair with a towel, a sleazy grin plastered on his face. "Sorry for crashing your date with David last night. But he's back in Ignis now, so let me make it up to you today," he said, leaning in closer.

A surge of self-preservation kicked in. I tried to break free from Lanny's grip, but he was way bigger than me. Still, I managed to keep him at bay.

He laughed wickedly. "Didn't expect you to be so feisty, Diana. Just my type."

Hearing this, I spat in his face. "Who the hell do you think you are?"

Lanny's expression turned cold. His fingers dug into my jaw. "Bitch," he hissed, "I bet that loser David never satisfied you. Today, I'll show you what a real man can do. Scream all you want. No one will hear you."

With that, he lunged at me again. As his lips neared, I turned my head and bit down hard on his earlobe. The taste of blood filled my mouth, making me nauseous.

Lanny screamed in pain and slapped me. "You filthy whore! I tried to be nice, but you bit me. Now, I'm going to make you pay. I'll kill you if I have to!"

I knew I couldn't overpower him. My only chance was to outsmart him. While he pressed a towel to his bleeding ear, I grabbed a vase from the bedside table and swung it at him.

But Lanny dodged, and the vase shattered against the wall. He turned and punched me to the ground. "You dare attack me? I'll rape you even if I bleed out!" he shouted and came at me again.

In my frantic struggle, my hand found a shard of the broken vase. I gripped it tightly, the sharp edge cutting into my palm. Blood flowed, but I ignored the pain and focused only on survival.

I pressed the shard to my neck, forcing a twisted smile. "Lanny, you like blood? Let's play. If I die, someone will come after you."

However, I was bluffing. The only people who truly cared about me were David and Lila. Yet David was far away in Ignis, and I had no idea where Lila was or what had happened to her.

I might really die here, and no one would know. I carefully controlled the shard, making a small cut on my neck. Blood trickled down, staining the carpet.

Seeing this, Lanny panicked, cursing. "Damn it, you're crazy!"

His face twisted in fear. Seeing his reaction, I laughed maniacally. "Come on, if you dare!" With that, I pulled my collar down, exposing more blood.

"Crazy, you're just crazy!" Lanny lost all interest. He picked me up and stormed out of the room. I felt the blood flowing down my neck but tried to stay calm. "Lanny, where are you taking me?" I asked.

"To the hospital. Don't die on the way. I just became the heir of the Wilson family, and my good days are just starting. If you die, don't drag me down with you." Lanny kept cursing but didn't stop walking.

Knowing he was taking me to the hospital, I relaxed a bit. Lanny was a coward. He wouldn't risk losing the Wilson family inheritance over me. He'd take me to the hospital, at least to avoid me dying in front of him.

But Lanny was too scared to take me inside. He dumped me at the hospital entrance. He crouched beside me, whispering, "You're on your own now."

Then he added viciously, "You better die here, so no one knows what happened tonight."

With that, he stood up and left.

The cold winter night was freezing. Blood loss and the cold soon made me pass out.

A voice sounded in my ear, "Diana, it's me. I'm here. Diana, wake up, don't sleep."

I felt someone shaking me. Through the haze, I heard someone calling my name. I forced my eyes open and saw Edward, with Aria behind him.

"Edward..." I croaked. He reached for my hand, but the pain made me pull away. My hand was covered in cuts from the glass shards.

Edward quickly took off his coat and draped it over me, trying to keep me warm. He said, "Diana, hold on. We're getting you inside."

Aria, terrified by the scene, ran to get medical help after Edward urged her.

Soon, medical staff arrived with a stretcher. Edward carefully lifted me onto it and escorted me to the ER.

"Who did this to you? I'll kill them!" Edward shouted. Before I could answer, the doctors pushed me into the emergency room.
