A moment later, Lucas plopped back into his seat, slapped his hands on the conference table, and announced, "Alright, since no one's jumping ship, starting today, we need every department to team up and bring our brand back to life. Now, let me break down my plan."
He fired up the projector, showing a detailed revival plan on the screen. It covered everything from market research and product tweaks to marketing strategies. Lucas had burned the midnight oil putting this plan together.
As he explained, Lucas kept an eye on everyone's reactions.
The vibe in the room started to change.
Heads that were hanging low began to lift, and a glimmer of hope sparked in everyone's eyes. The marketing manager, who had been skeptical before, now listened closely, occasionally nodding thoughtfully.
When Lucas wrapped up the last slide, there was a moment of silence, followed by scattered applause that grew louder and more enthusiastic.
The marketing manager stood up, looking a bit sheepish, and said, "Mr. Jackson, I was too quick to judge. After hearing your plan, I believe the Howard Group still has a shot. I'm ready to follow your lead!"
Others chimed in, "We're with you to revive the Howard Group!"
Lucas looked at everyone, a satisfied smile spreading across his face.
He said, "Great, let's work together to bring the Howard Group back to its peak!"
After the meeting, Lucas dove headfirst into his work.
After months of grinding, the Howard Group finally got back on track and started seeing profits.
As Lucas looked at the steadily rising numbers on the financial report, a relieved smile spread across his tired face. He knew all the hard work had paid off, and he could finally put his plan into action.
Lucas suddenly remembered he hadn't reached out to Lila in days. Feeling guilty, he headed to Stellar Legal Advisors.
The moment Lila saw Lucas, she ran into his arms like a little girl, and Lucas hugged her tightly. "Lila, I'm really sorry. The company has been a whirlwind, and I've been so busy I haven't had much time for you."
Lila playfully pushed away from his embrace, dragging out her words. "You're always putting work first. Who was it that swore they didn't care about fame and fortune and just wanted to be a carefree wandering artist? Now look at you, so busy I can hardly see you!"
Lucas, full of guilt, quickly said, "Lila, I was wrong. I promise, once I finish this batch of work, I'll spend every day with you. Wherever you want to go, we'll go. Whatever you want to do, I'll be there with you."
Lila's anger softened a bit at his words, but she still teased, "You always say that, but when have you ever followed through? This time, you have to make it up to me, or I really won't forgive you."
Lucas, a bit embarrassed, said, "It's a special situation, and I have a secret plan. Once this is over, I'll make it up to you in any way you want."
Lila chuckled and then asked, "Skylar's first birthday party is coming up. Have you prepared a gift?"
Lucas immediately reassured her, "Of course, you can count on me."
Lila's lips curled into a small, satisfied smile.
She said, "That's more like it. If you do well, I have a gift for you too."
Lucas seemed to understand what Lila meant and gently pulled her into his arms.For Skylar's birthday, I didn't want a big bash that would draw too much attention and possibly stir up business rivals. So, I decided to keep it low-key and invite a few close friends for a small celebration.
Finally, Skylar's first birthday rolled around.
In the banquet hall, colorful balloons and streamers gradually transformed the place into a warm and dreamy scene. I stood on a ladder, carefully hanging the last string of balloons, filled with anticipation for Skylar's party.
Just then, a familiar voice called out, "Diana."
I looked down to see Lucas and Lila walking in, hand in hand.
I said, "You guys are right on time."
I quickly climbed down the ladder, smiling as I greeted them. Seeing Lucas in a sharp suit, looking confident and full of energy, I couldn't help but tease him. "Lucas, you look really dapper in that suit. No wonder Lila picked you."
Hearing this, Lucas had a mysterious smile on his face. He said, "This is the last time I'll wear a suit before I get married."
I was puzzled.
Lucas then solemnly took out an exquisite document box from his bag and handed it to me. "Diana, this is the birthday gift Lila and I prepared for Skylar. We hope you like it."
Full of curiosity, I took the document box and slowly opened it.
When the words "The Howard Group" and a series of equity transfer documents came into view, my eyes widened. "What is this?" my voice trembled with surprise.
Lila smiled and walked up, gently linking her arm with mine, explaining, "Lucas has been working tirelessly to revive the Howard Group. He understands how special the company is to you, which is why he decided to give it to Skylar as a gift, ensuring that this legacy can continue with her."
Hearing this, I couldn't help but run my fingers over the words "The Howard Group" on the document, my throat tight with emotion.
I hugged Lila tightly, my voice choked with tears. "Lila, you and Lucas have done so much for me and Skylar. The Howard Group's recovery to its current level is thanks to Lucas's hard work over the past year. This gift is far too precious. How can I possibly accept something so valuable?"
Lila gently patted my back, hugging me in return. "Diana, we're good friends, and Skylar is like my daughter. Lucas wanted to give her a meaningful gift and support you in preserving this important bond."
I looked at her and Lucas, my eyes full of gratitude and emotion. "I'm at a loss for words. The Howard Group is a lifelong treasure for Skylar."
Lucas smiled and said, "I hope the Howard Group can be a strong support for Skylar in her future life."
As we were talking, other guests started arriving.
Everyone who entered the banquet hall was moved by the warm atmosphere and shared their heartfelt blessings with Skylar.
Before long, David and Fiona arrived. When they learned about the special gift Lucas and Lila had given Skylar, Fiona turned to David and exclaimed, "Did you hear that? Lucas and Lila gave Skylar the Howard Group as a gift! Our gift pales in comparison."
I smiled and responded, "Your presence at Skylar's birthday party brings me so much joy. Every gift is truly special to both me and Skylar."
Then, I looked at Lucas and Lila, full of anticipation. "You've done so much for Skylar. I'm deeply grateful. But speaking of which, isn't it time you two considered your own wedding plans?"
"Soon, soon!" Lucas said, scratching his head sheepishly, and everyone couldn't help but laugh along.
