Chapter 389 So Smooth?

I hit up David right away and spilled the beans about Fiona and Nicholas's shady plan and the idea of teaming up.

David listened quietly, then his voice turned icy. "Fiona's got some nerve, huh? But what about Edward? Is he really serious about this partnership?" he asked.

I set up a private meeting between Edward and David at a quiet café, feeling a bit anxious about what might go down when they met.

Edward kicked things off. "David, I asked Diana to set this up because I genuinely want to talk about teaming up. Fiona and Nicholas are gunning for the Wilson Group, and Anne's not going to let me off easy either. If we don't join forces, we're both going down."

Edward handed over a detailed plan. "This is the framework I've put together for our collaboration. It includes strategies for pooling our resources and clear tactics to counter Fiona and Nicholas."

Both David and I could sense Edward's sincerity. It seemed like Edward was determined to change his fate this time. Watching Edward work so earnestly, I began to understand why I had been so captivated by him before.

David and I exchanged a glance before he took the plan from Edward and started to review it carefully. His brows furrowed.

"I'm a bit concerned. If we pour all these resources into this, can your new company still operate normally? This fight against them will need a lot of manpower and resources." David handed the plan to me as he spoke.

I took the plan and quickly scanned the densely packed text and well-organized charts. Edward had indeed put a lot of effort into this. The resource integration section detailed the personnel, channels, and estimated funds both sides could mobilize. The strategies to counter Fiona and Nicholas covered everything from public relations and business competition to legal measures.

Edward sat up straight and explained, "Don't worry. I've thought this through. We'll allocate enough resources for the collaboration while ensuring the company runs smoothly. Our company may be small, but our team is highly efficient and won't drop the ball when it counts."

David listened quietly before speaking again. "The idea is good, but how do we handle communication and coordination between our teams during the execution?"

Edward smiled and said, "I've considered that too. I suggest we hold regular joint meetings to ensure our teams communicate fully and understand their respective roles and tasks. We can also set up a coordination group with members from both sides to address any communication issues and resolve conflicts promptly, ensuring the collaboration progresses smoothly."

David and I exchanged another glance, and I saw approval in his eyes.

While Edward's plan had room for improvement, his preparation and response strategies demonstrated his determination and capability to break the deadlock.

This collaboration might really change their current predicament.

After reaching a preliminary agreement, Edward and David quickly dove into intense preparations. To avoid Fiona's interference, their first meeting was held in the Wilson Group's conference room.

Due to other pressing matters and to avoid unnecessary complications, I decided to stay out of their further actions.I could only catch snippets of their progress through David's occasional calls and brief messages.

Every day, while juggling my own stuff, I couldn't help but think about them, worried they might hit some roadblocks. David kept reassuring me that they had a solid plan and everything was going smoothly.

Out of nowhere, these two low-key young entrepreneurs managed to expose some of the Griffin Group and Nicholas's shady business tactics through the media, putting public pressure on them.

The reports caused an immediate uproar in the business community, turning public opinion against Fiona and Nicholas. Seizing the moment while they were busy defending themselves, Edward and David quickly snapped up several key resource companies crucial to Fiona and Nicholas's plans, throwing a wrench in their strategy.

"Diana, they used public opinion to make the Wilson Group lose so many opportunities. Now, I've finally gotten my revenge. Actually, I should thank Edward," David said with a smile.

I replied, "Your collaboration has been a great success."

David nodded seriously. "Indeed, although Edward made some mistakes in judging people before, his business acumen and intelligence are truly impressive."

I asked, "How is he doing now?"

For some reason, Edward's image suddenly popped into my mind. It had been a while since we last met, and I felt a sudden urge to know how he was doing.

"Diana, you?" David looked at me with a strange expression, like he wanted to say something but hesitated.

"I'm just concerned about your collaboration's progress. After all, Fiona is using this opportunity to target my company as well." As soon as I spoke, I noticed the urgency in my voice and, feeling flustered, tried to explain myself, attempting to mask the inexplicable emotions swirling inside me.

"Diana, you're blushing." David laughed heartily, like he had discovered something amusing.

After laughing, David spoke seriously. "Don't worry. Edward's company has expanded significantly, and he no longer relies on Fiona's investment like before."

"Fiona is still willing to invest in Edward?" I was surprised, my eyes widening in confusion.

David replied, "Yes, we found it very strange too. We've made such big moves, and Fiona should have been furious by now. But instead of getting angry, she increased her investment—even though Edward no longer needs the money."

I said, "That's really odd. Fiona has always been vindictive. There's no reason for her to act so out of character."

I frowned, feeling a growing unease.

David's smile faded, and he nodded gravely. "Edward and I also think something's off. We've investigated privately but haven't discovered her intentions yet."

"I guess she's trying to keep Edward in check while secretly planning something more sinister?" I speculated, Fiona's sinister gaze flashing in my mind.

"Possibly," David said, crossing his arms and pacing the room. "We've been tightening security on all fronts and have warned Edward to be extra cautious."

David's phone suddenly rang. He glanced at the caller ID, and his face turned serious.

He said, "It's Edward. There might be new developments."
