Chapter 326 I Will Investigate for You

"David, spill it. Who hit Fiona?" Ronnie's eyes bore into David, making it clear there was no escaping this.

David's eyes darted around before he looked down. "The car came out of nowhere. After the accident, I rushed Fiona to the hospital. Didn't have time to check things out."

"Didn't have time, or didn't want to?" Ronnie's anger was obvious, his cane hitting the floor with a loud thud.

I glanced at David, whose eyes were wide with shock. I knew his earlier suspicions were probably right.

"Where were you and Fiona this morning? Who did you meet?" Ronnie's voice was low but commanding.

David kept his head down, stammering. "This morning, Fiona and I went to see Lanny about some business."

"There was a shipment stuck at customs. Lanny knows someone who could help, so we went to him." David was being deliberately vague, avoiding key details.

"Don't try to fool me! That shipment has nothing to do with the Griffin family." Ronnie's eyes were sharp, clearly having done his homework.

I couldn't stand seeing David being accused like this and quickly spoke up. "Mr. Griffin, that shipment is mine."

Ronnie's gaze shifted to me, filled with skepticism and disdain. "Yours?"

Before Ronnie could react further, Harper burst into tears, pointing at me and shrieking. "It's you again! You caused a scene at Fiona's wedding, and now you're ruining her life."

Maybe because I was an outsider, Harper only cried out to me but never acted out. But when it came to David, she showed no mercy. She lunged at David, slapping him repeatedly. Despite hitting David, she muttered complaints about Ronnie. "I told you David was unreliable. Look at his father. What kind of son could he raise? You insisted on their marriage, and now Fiona's suffering."

David stood still, not resisting, his head bowed, silently enduring Harper's blows.

"Enough! This is a hospital!" Ronnie's voice cut through the chaos, stopping Harper.

Harper, lost in her emotions, continued to hit David.

I couldn't stand it any longer and stepped forward, blocking Harper. "Mrs. Griffin, the shipment is mine. There's nothing between David and me. Since David and Fiona got married, Fiona and I have gotten along well. I asked Fiona for help; it has nothing to do with David."

But Ronnie interrupted me harshly. "This is not your place to speak!""What's all this noise? This is a hospital!" A nurse stormed into the room, her face stern with anger. But she quickly fell silent, stunned by the tense atmosphere.

"David, I'll give you one more chance. How did Fiona get hurt?" Ronnie's voice was unyielding.

David's eyes were frantic, his words stumbling. I knew David despised Lanny's actions but would never admit Lanny was behind Fiona's injury. Otherwise, Ronnie wouldn't just go after Lanny; the entire Wilson family would be in danger.

Ignoring David's panic, Ronnie continued. "If you didn't have time to investigate, I'll do it for you."

He signaled to a bodyguard behind him.

The bodyguard understood immediately, shouting, "Bring him in!"

Two more bodyguards appeared, dragging a young man with colorful hair from the stairwell.

Despite being restrained, the young man struggled, shouting, "Let me go! You have no right to hold me. I was just following orders. I'm innocent!"

"Fine, if you were following orders, tell me who gave them." Ronnie's voice was chillingly calm.

The young man, defiant, raised his head. "He's my best friend. I'd rather die than betray him. The Griffin family deserves this. With all your money, you should pay a price." With that, the young man laughed maniacally, his laughter echoing down the hallway.

When he finally stopped, Ronnie spoke slowly. "Do you believe that if you don't speak up, I can have them beat you within an inch of your life?"

The bodyguards tightened their grip, causing the young man to wince in pain, his face contorted. But he remained defiant, spitting in Ronnie's direction.

"I took the money, so I'll do the job. You can kill me, but I won't betray him. Go ahead, kill me!"

His defiance was infuriating.

Before Ronnie could respond, the bodyguards dragged the young man back to the stairwell. Sounds of a struggle followed.

Soon, the young man's cries echoed. "I was wrong! Please, spare me! I'll tell you everything!"

The fighting stopped, and the hallway fell silent.

The bodyguards dragged the young man back, his face swollen, blood at his mouth, one arm hanging limp. Released, he collapsed, speaking quickly. "It was Lanny. He told me to kill David, and if possible, Fiona too, because she's pregnant with David's child. If they both die, Lanny gets all of Daniel's estate and the Wilson Group shares."
