Chapter 204 Where Did David Go?
Edward looked pretty shocked by my sudden outburst. He stumbled back a few steps but then stopped. Just when I thought I could break free, he grabbed my shoulder and pinned me against the wall, making it impossible to move.
Edward sneered, "Wow, you've got some nerve now, huh? Forgot me after being with other guys?"
He stepped closer, closing the gap between us, and whispered in my ear, "Let me remind you."
With that, he picked me up and carried me to the sofa, tossing me onto it.
I struggled like crazy to get away, but he just tightened his grip. His lips crashed onto mine, and I could taste his familiar mouthwash. But I was too focused on trying to escape to care about that.
Suddenly, Edward loosened his grip a bit and said in a menacing tone, "Diana, don't push me. I have plenty of ways to make you obey."
For a moment, I was lost in thought. This was the domineering Edward I knew. I was aware of the scary consequences of pissing him off, but I still hoped he had some sense left.
I couldn't help but shout, "Edward, we're divorced!"
Edward nodded thoughtfully. "Yeah, so what?" he asked with a mocking smile.
I tried to explain, "We're divorced, and your current girlfriend is Aria. We can't do this."
Hearing this, Edward snorted, "What you really mean is that your current boyfriend is David, right?"
That was exactly what I was thinking. Even though David and I hadn’t made it official, I wanted to save myself for him.
I was divorced and had an abortion, making me feel unworthy of David in many ways, but my feelings were real. Of course, I couldn't show these thoughts in front of Edward, or he'd just treat me worse.
So I shook my head and replied, "David and I aren't in a relationship."
Edward nodded and said, "Right, he's been chasing you, and you haven't agreed, right? Why haven't you agreed? Is it because you can't forget about me?"
I couldn't believe Edward could say such things, so I stared at him, trying to stop him from making any further moves. But Edward pressed his lips against mine again, trying to force his tongue into my mouth, but I kept my lips tightly closed, giving him no chance.
Maybe my coldness finally pissed Edward off. He suddenly let go of me and stood up straight. "Diana, aren't you curious why David hasn't come to find you for so long?" he asked.
My heart tightened, and a sense of dread washed over me. "What do you mean by that?" I asked warily, "What have you done to him?"
Edward proudly shook his finger and replied, "David is my friend. What could I do to him? Since you're so concerned about him, I'll tell you. He won't be coming back to you. I suggest you give up and come back to me."
I asked cautiously, "Why should I believe you?"
Edward smirked, "You don't have to believe me. Go ahead, call him and see if he picks up."
He crossed his arms, looking all smug, which only made me more anxious.
With a frown, I slowly pulled my phone from my pocket, my fingers shaking as I dialed David's number. The ringing seemed to go on forever, each ring echoing in my ears, but there was no answer.
Edward's smile grew wider. "So, have you given up now?"
My anxiety spiked, and I yelled at Edward, "What have you done to him? If you hurt him, I swear I'll make you pay!"
Edward snorted, raising an eyebrow, "I told you, he's my friend. I wouldn't hurt him. But his parents? That's a different story."
"His parents?" I repeated, my eyes wide with confusion.
The Coopers and the Wilsons had been family friends forever. When we were kids, I used to see David's relatives all the time. Every time I went to his house to complain about him bullying me, his dad, Daniel, would give him a good scolding.
Later, I heard the Wilson family wanted David's half-brother, Wayne, to take over the Wilson Group. They'd pretty much given up on David, who just wanted to live his own life. Now that he was in his late twenties, why would his family suddenly care about him again?
Edward seemed to find my shock amusing and laughed. He patted my shoulder and said, "Diana, stop worrying. Your prince charming is working hard for you right now. Maybe one day he'll come riding on a white horse to marry you. When that happens, I'll have to give him some tips on how to please you in bed."
As he spoke, a sly look flashed in his eyes. He suddenly stepped forward, pressing his body against mine, and wrapped his arms around me.
I pounded his shoulder with my fists, shouting, "Let go of me! You bastard!"
Edward's face darkened, and his eyes turned fierce. He suddenly shouted, "Enough, Diana! My patience is running thin. I might not be able to take down the whole Wilson family, but going after David would be a piece of cake. One phone call, and he'd have nothing left! Do you think the Wilson family would still let him marry you then?"
Edward's words snapped me back to reality, and I stopped struggling.
He was right. If he targeted David, David wouldn't stand a chance. Besides, David's previous ventures were all backed by the Wilson family. But this time, Daniel had ordered that no one was allowed to help David. He had to earn his freedom to marry on his own, or he would have to follow the family's arrangements and marry a partner's daughter for the sake of the family's business, just like my marriage to Edward.
