Chapter 379 Are They Together?

Edward and Fiona strolled into the restaurant, scanning the room until they spotted our table.

"Isn't that Edward and Fiona? What are they doing together?" Lucas blurted out, eyes wide as he pointed at them.

We all exchanged surprised looks.

Lila's smile froze as she muttered, "Yeah, that's weird. How did they end up together?"

I frowned, my expression serious. "Edward came by to see Skylar at my place today, but Skylar wouldn't have him and kicked him out. I guess he's turning to Fiona for money now. She's been after him for a while," I said.

Alaric's eyes widened slightly. "Skylar didn't accept Edward? That's surprising. I'm sorry, Diana. I was the one who suggested Edward visit Skylar. I thought it would make Skylar happy."

I felt my resentment fade as I saw Alaric's sincere expression.

Lucas's face twisted in disdain as he sneered, "What's his deal? He seemed principled before, but now he's changing his tune just for some cash. Teaming up with Fiona, of all people. Who knows what kind of trouble they'll cause next."

Fiona noticed our stares and smirked, her eyes full of contempt.

She strutted over to us, her steps exaggeratedly confident. She said, "Well, if it isn't Diana and the gang. What a coincidence."

I forced a strained smile, trying to keep my tone calm. "Yeah, quite the coincidence. Didn't expect to see you here."

Fiona clung to Edward's arm, pressing herself closer to him. Her actions were deliberately exaggerated as if to stake her claim.

Edward stiffened slightly, subtly trying to pull away, but Fiona only tightened her grip.

Then, Fiona's gaze landed on Alaric. "Mr. Kingsley, it's been a while. Finally won Diana over, huh?"

She tossed her meticulously styled hair.

Alaric remained composed, giving a slight nod. "Ms. Griffin."

Fiona's face briefly showed a hint of disappointment at Alaric's cold response, but she quickly turned her attention back to me.

She said, "I heard you've been incredibly busy lately, juggling your career and taking care of your child. Don't overwork yourself."

Her words were tinged with hidden barbs.

Sensing my silence, Fiona tried to provoke me further. "Look at Edward, such an outstanding man, now by my side. Some people should stop wasting their time coveting what isn't theirs and take a good look at themselves. After all, not everyone is as innocent as they seem. Who knows what schemes they might be plotting behind the scenes."

She fixed her gaze on me, almost daring me to respond.

Lila shot up from her seat, furious. She retorted, "Fiona, we always treated you as a friend. What do you mean by this? If you have something to say, just say it outright instead of being so passive-aggressive. It's infuriating!"

Fiona smirked coldly. "Passive-aggressive? I'm just giving some friendly advice. Some people love to act innocent, but their intentions are as transparent as glass."

She glanced at me with a condescending look, as if flaunting something.

I struggled to keep my composure and said, "Fiona, I don't know what you're insinuating, but please watch your words. Who I date is my business, not yours."

My voice trembled slightly with anger and frustration. I could not understand why Fiona was suddenly targeting me because of Edward.

Edward stood by, watching everything unfold with a faint, inscrutable smile.

He finally spoke slowly, "Alright, Fiona. We're here to eat. There's no need to make things unpleasant."

Despite his words, his eyes showed no intention of stopping her, almost encouraging her instead.

Sure enough, Fiona only grew more arrogant. She said, "Unpleasant? Diana, don't be so naive. People aren't as simple as they seem. Take Mr. Kingsley, for example. Do you really think he's completely devoted to you? Maybe..."

"Enough!" Alaric's sudden outburst silenced the room, drawing startled looks from other diners.

Fiona flinched at Alaric's intensity, taking a small step back before quickly regaining her composure. She continued, "Mr. Kingsley, why the big reaction? I'm just stating facts. And Edward and I being here together is fate, don't you think?"

She clung to Edward's arm, seeking both protection and provocation.

Edward's smile remained as he gently patted Fiona's hand, his eyes fixed on me. He said, "Since we're all here, why not sit down and have a meal together? No need to make the atmosphere so tense."

I felt a wave of disgust at their pretense. I said firmly, "No thanks, we're just about done. Alaric, let's go."

Alaric nodded without hesitation, taking my hand firmly.

We all stood up, walking past Edward and Fiona towards the exit.

As we reached the door, Fiona called out behind us, "Good riddance! Saves us from having to look at you!"
