Chapter 421 Don't Care

I scoffed, "You sure know how to make yourself feel better. Fiona's been after you forever. Don't you know her well enough by now? If she didn't have something real, would she be threatening you with it?"

I crossed my arms and looked away from Edward.

Edward quickly tried to explain, "You and Jeffrey are done, right? I believe there's nothing between you two anymore. Fiona bringing this up now is just to mess with us. Maybe Jeffrey gave her those things."

His voice grew more desperate, like he was scared I'd walk away any second.

I lowered my gaze, memories of my time with Jeffrey flashing through my mind. Those beautiful moments now felt like a sword hanging over my head.

Would Jeffrey really make those photos public? What would he gain from that?

"No, I need to find Jeffrey and get to the bottom of this," I said through gritted teeth. "I can't let anyone control me so easily."

Edward grabbed my arm urgently, "Diana, don't be impulsive. Fiona is definitely trying to bait you. This is a trap!" His grip was so tight it nearly cut off my circulation.

I yanked my arm free, "Even so, it's better than sitting here doing nothing. If you won't face it, I will. I need to see what they're up to."

I grabbed my coat and headed for the door.

Seeing he couldn't stop me, Edward reluctantly followed, "I'll go with you. No matter what happens, I'll be by your side."

His voice carried a hint of determination, trying to offer me some comfort.

I opened the door, only to find Fiona standing in the hallway.

Fiona saw us and smirked, "Well, if it isn't Edward and Diana. Here to see the photos?"

Her voice was sharp and grating, like a knife to my heart.

I glared at her, "Fiona, hand over the photos."

Fiona crossed her arms and leaned against the doorframe, "Hand them over? Why should I? These are my prized possessions."

"What do you want?" I asked coldly.

She looked at me with a triumphant glint in her eyes, "What, getting anxious? I just want you to leave Edward and give him to me."

Edward stepped forward, shielding me, "Fiona, don't go too far. This is between us, leave Diana out of it."

Fiona laughed, "Oh Edward, always trying to protect her. But some things, some feelings, you can't stop."

She reached into her bag and pulled out an envelope. "Here are the photos. If you want to see them, go ahead."

With a mocking smile, she pulled out the photos and tossed them into the air.

The photos fluttered down, each one showing moments of Jeffrey and me together. Those memories, once my only source of happiness, now felt like daggers to my heart.

Edward's face turned pale as he saw the photos. He opened his mouth but couldn't say a word.

Seeing this, Fiona laughed again, a hollow sound echoing in the narrow hallway.

Edward instinctively stepped forward, as if trying to shield me from the harsh reality. His fists clenched, veins bulging, and sweat beading on his forehead.

"Fiona, what do you want?" he asked, his voice low and strained with anger.

Fiona ignored him, her laughter echoing in the hallway. She looked down at the scattered photos with satisfaction, as if admiring a well-executed plan.

"Surprised? You'd better do as I say, or these photos will be all over the social scene."

She kicked at the photos on the floor, each kick landing like a blow to my heart.

I felt dizzy, my legs weak, barely able to stand. I looked at Edward, who was staring intently at the photos.

"Edward, it's not what it looks like," I tried to explain, my voice barely audible.

Fiona sneered, "Diana, don't bother explaining. Can you deny these photos are of you? I have even more explosive ones, want to see?"

"Fiona, that's enough!" Edward turned sharply, shielding me with his body.

Behind Edward, his firm words brought a wave of warmth to my heart, giving me a sliver of hope in my despair.

"I know exactly what kind of person Diana is. You did all this because you can't stand to see us happy," he said, crouching to pick up the photos.

He held them tightly, standing up to face Fiona. "No matter what 'explosive' things you have, you won't hurt Diana."

Fiona's smug expression faltered for a moment but quickly returned. "I'll expose these photos, and you'll be ruined."

With that, she walked away without looking back.

I looked at Edward, my emotions a mix of gratitude, confusion, and fear.

I was grateful for his protection, puzzled by his indifference to the photos, and terrified of the unknown.

Those recordings, photos, and videos were like ticking time bombs, ready to destroy my carefully maintained peace.

"Why don't you care?" I couldn't help but ask.

Edward looked at me with a gentle gaze, like a warm spring breeze. "Diana, I only care about you and Skylar. I've missed so much of Skylar's life, and it's my biggest regret. Now, I just want to make it up to her, give her a loving environment to grow up in."

"Whatever Fiona has, it won't stop me from being with you and protecting you. You two are my everything, and I'll do whatever it takes for you."
