Chapter 42 Kneel Down and Apologize

"Edward, I can't stand you. Why'd you lie to me? Why'd you bring me here?" I glared at him, my voice shaking with anger.

"Diana, if I hadn't tricked you, would you have come with us? If I didn't bring you here, how could I get you to apologize to Anne?" Edward's frustration was clear, but I couldn't believe he didn't get it.

"Edward, I was hurt that day too. How could I have bribed someone to hurt myself?" I sighed, feeling the weight of the situation.

"Enough! You got a scratch! Anne needed twenty stitches! She was just a kid!" Edward slammed his hands on the table, his anger boiling over.

"If Diana doesn't want to apologize, it's fine. My injury really has nothing to do with Diana. Don't be upset," Anne chimed in, her voice surprisingly calm. She wasn't crying this time, just standing there, following Edward like a shadow.

"Diana, I said if you could kneel and apologize to Anne, then Anne and I would forgive you," Edward said earnestly as he untied the ropes binding me.

"Edward, are you out of your mind? Did you forget I was hurt that day too? How could I have used such a method to hurt myself?" I shouted, my anger flaring up.

"Maybe you hurt yourself on purpose to put on a show for us, who knows?" Anne stomped her foot in frustration. "When you bribed the attacker to assault us, you should have thought of this. Now look, you got hurt too."

"Martin was actually bribed by Anne. She hired the attacker to kill me. Because if I died, Anne could have you. Unfortunately, it was Martin's first time doing this, and he couldn't control his strength. Plus, it was chaotic that afternoon, and Martin got too nervous and messed up, inadvertently hurting Anne. Edward, your sister Anne plotted against you like this." I looked at Edward's handsome face, now serious with anger, and felt reckless.

"Edward, don't listen to her nonsense! How could I have bribed the attacker to hurt myself? It was clearly Diana who wanted to kill me." Anne started crying and turned to me. "Diana! I know you've never liked me. You don't want me to be with Edward."

"Edward, make her sign the divorce papers, okay?" Edward was deep in thought as Anne pulled out two sets of divorce papers from her small bag and tilted her head to look at Edward. I was shocked. How could Edward suddenly agree to divorce me and even have the papers ready?

"You know, as a lawyer, I really care about the legality of documents." Even the tiniest detail, a different wording, could change everything. I carefully examined the divorce papers they handed me.

"Do you think everyone is as low as you?" Edward sneered.

"Edward, stop wasting time and make her sign!" Anne shoved the pen into my hand.

"Hold on." I stared at the terms in the divorce papers. "You two really have it all planned out, huh? You want half of my property and shares in the Cooper Group?" I held the papers up to Edward's face. "Why?"

"Diana, divorce means fair distribution! Right, Edward?" Anne jumped in first. "Don't you want a divorce? Then sign!" She tried to grab me, but I dodged, causing her to fall to the ground.

Anne was stunned, and so was I.

She stood up, waving her fists and lunging at me. She no longer looked gentle.

I quickly sidestepped, avoiding the blow. I was full of confusion and anger. What had gotten into Anne?

She lifted her foot to kick me. I stepped back a few paces and grabbed her ankle, pulling her forward. Anne lost her balance and fell to the ground.

"Diana, I'm going to fight you to the death!" Anne charged at me like an angry little lion, and we started wrestling. She grabbed my clothes, and I pushed her hard.

She reached for my hair, and I quickly blocked her, but she still managed to grab it. She raised her fist, and I instinctively tilted my head. Her fist grazed my ear and hit the ground. I took the opportunity to flip her over and pin her down. Anne, frustrated at missing me, became even angrier. Her nails scratched my arm, leaving shallow marks and a stinging pain.

At some point, Edward rushed over and stood between us. He grabbed my shoulder as if to crush my bones. I struggled desperately, twisting my body and flailing my other hand. Edward yanked me aside, and I fell to the ground. Just as I was about to get up, Edward pinned me down, using both hands to hold my shoulders tightly.

Edward, who regularly worked out, was very strong. The difference in our size and strength was overwhelming. In a panic, I bit down hard on his wrist. My teeth sank deep into his flesh, and his face showed a mix of pain and helplessness, but he didn't let go. The strong taste of blood filled my mouth.

Anne took the chance to slap me across the face. Her triumphant expression seemed to declare victory.

Edward slapped Anne across the face.
