Chapter 332 Unwavering Support
My hand shook a bit as I held my phone, feeling a heavy weight in my chest. It was clear that the problem we were facing was way more complicated than I had thought. I shrugged helplessly and looked at Theo and Amy, sighing. "Looks like we're in for a tough one this time."
Theo's eyes lit up with determination as he eagerly replied, "Then let's give them a run for their money!"
Amy, being new to the workforce, looked worried and unsure. I gently reassured her, "This isn't the first time the Cooper Group has faced something like this. Go organize the documents I asked you to prepare earlier, and then contact Lila from Stellar Legal Advisors. She'll know what to do next."
Amy nodded quickly and hurried out of my office, leaving a brief silence behind.
Theo gave me an approving look and said sincerely, "Diana, you're really growing into the role of a mature and composed CEO."
I sighed deeply, feeling a bit resigned. "After being in this position for so long, I feel like I've turned into someone I don't even recognize. I guess my mother must have faced similar struggles back in the day."
Theo's eyes filled with sympathy as he softly said, "You're working even harder than Mrs. Cooper did, managing the company's transition and dealing with external pressures. If she could see how well you're running things, she'd be so proud of you."
I sighed again, exhaustion evident in my voice. "But I'm really tired."
Theo's concern was palpable as he asked, "What's going on?"
Looking into Theo's sincere eyes, I knew I could trust him like a brother. I took a deep breath and began to explain, "Do you know why we were able to ship out that batch of goods so quickly? Someone has been working behind the scenes to help us."
Theo leaned on my desk, his expression grave. "I suspect there's been some human intervention. Was it the Griffin family that helped us with customs?"
"No, it was Fiona alone," I said heavily. "She used her connections and resources to clear all the obstacles at customs. But because of this, she faced brutal retaliation and lost her unborn child."
Hearing this, Theo looked at me in shock. "If I remember correctly, Fiona was about to give birth. How could this happen?"
I nodded sadly. "Yes, she was close to delivery. But to help us negotiate, she was deliberately hit by a car driven by thugs hired by our opponents. Fiona survived, but the child the Griffin family was eagerly awaiting will never be born."
My nose tingled, and my eyes welled up with tears. Theo, standing beside me, sighed, "Fiona is truly a woman who values loyalty and deep connections. We owe her a great debt of gratitude."I thought about Ronnie's menacing demeanor and the things he said, and I warned Theo seriously, "This is far from over. Ronnie from the Griffin Group is furious about this. Even if Fiona doesn't blame us, Ronnie likely sees us as enemies now and could strike back at any time. We're facing one crisis after another."
Theo nodded firmly, promising, "Diana, don't worry. No matter what happens, I'll stand by you without hesitation."
Looking at the dependable Theo, I couldn't hold back my feelings any longer. Even someone as strong as me needed to vent. I said, "Lately, the company has been plagued with issues, and nothing seems to go right. Skylar has been emotionally unstable since she came back, always wanting Anne by her side. But with so many problems at the company, I barely have time to spend with Skylar. I feel like I'm at my breaking point."
Theo's eyes were full of concern as he said, "Skylar is still young and needs more attention. But you can't keep running yourself ragged like this. It's not sustainable. I never thought Anne, who caused so much trouble before, would be so good at taking care of a child now."
I sighed, "Before coming to the office, I had an argument with Lila about Anne. Now with the company's mess, I don't know if Lila will still help us. If she doesn't, I'll have to handle the lawsuit myself. The company can't fall apart."
Hearing this, Theo seemed surprised and blurted out, "You and Lila, who are so close, actually had a fight?"
I nodded helplessly. "It's because of Anne. I wanted to bail her out for Skylar's sake, but Lila was firmly against it. I'm really at a loss."
"You want to bail Anne out?" Theo was shocked.
I nodded firmly and explained my reasoning to Theo in detail. Finally, I said with a troubled expression, "Joshua and Lila are both strongly opposed. I really don't know what to do."
"Diana, if I were in your shoes, I might make the same choice," Theo said calmly, his words striking a chord in my heart.
"Really?" I was both surprised and delighted. Theo was the first person to understand my feelings about the bail.
Theo nodded seriously and said, "As a parent, I understand the importance of being there for your child. But Anne's situation is complicated, given her past actions against us."
I sighed, my voice filled with resignation and contemplation. "That's why they're against my decision. But I can feel that Anne is different this time. So, I want to give it a try."
"If you've made up your mind, then go for it, Diana. At least while you're swamped with company issues, someone can be there for Skylar," Theo said.
As we were talking, the office door suddenly burst open.
