Chapter 97 Diana, I Like You

I leaned back in my chair and said, "Sure, what's up?"

I motioned for Edward to sit on the study's sofa. As he sat down, the pink sofa seemed comically undersized under his weight, making the whole scene slightly laughable. I couldn't help but let out a small smile. Realizing my slip, I quickly put on a serious face.

"Diana, you really want to win this case, don't you?" Edward's tone had a hint of disdain.

I replied firmly, "Winning or losing this case isn't up to us; it's up to the judge."

"Believe it or not, if I wanted to, I could make you lose badly," Edward said, showing his true colors.

I threw the folder in my hand onto the table. "Edward, do you even hear yourself? The law is serious business; you can't just trample all over it."

Edward crossed his hands over his raised knee and nodded. "Yeah, the law is serious. This case is tough, but making it harder for you to defend shouldn't be a problem, right?"

I was speechless.

Edward was right. If he wanted to, he could totally sway the judge's decision. Making my case harder to defend would be a piece of cake for him, especially with the Howard Group's top-notch legal team.

I asked cautiously, "What exactly do you want?"

Edward got serious too. "I want you to win the case, Diana. But the condition is that you stop going after the info Anne posted online," he said.

I felt like I had just heard the biggest joke ever. I nodded. "As long as she publicly apologizes to me, admits the info online is false, and promises not to post false stuff again, I won't pursue it."

"Apologize..." Edward murmured. "With Anne's personality, how could she possibly apologize voluntarily?"

I shrugged. "My husband is so amazing; how could you not handle such a small matter?" I teased him.

"Fine, I'll do what I say. And I'll make sure you win this case." Edward placed his hands on the back of my chair and the table, looking down at me.

"By the way, when's your court date?" he asked. I opened the calendar to show him the date I had already marked.

"Next Wednesday..." Edward muttered to himself, nodding. "Prepare well. I'll come to watch your court session."

Edward then sank back into the sofa.

"Can I stay here tonight?" he asked, almost pleading, his Adam's apple moving. Seeing his pitiful look, I couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for him and nodded in agreement.

Feeling down, neither Edward nor I wanted to sleep. I dragged him out the door, walking around the neighborhood's greenbelt.

I clung to Edward's shoulder, kissing him under the moonlight. He wasn't as focused as usual, maybe because he had something on his mind.

I wrapped my arms around his waist, slowly moving my hand down. In an instant, his waistband cut off my blood flow. Edward's breath hitched, and I could feel his body trembling slightly. I took the chance to deepen the kiss, using every trick I knew to win him over.

Edward placed his hands on my cheeks, the coolness of his fingers a sharp contrast to my increasingly warm face.

His soft lips brushed against my cheek, making me feel hot and restless. "Diana, you can't wait, can you?" he said.

Edward's voice was low and hoarse. Blushing, I reached out to cover his mouth, but he gently kissed each of my fingers. In the quiet garden, we explored each other again in the gazebo.

Edward scooped me up from the bench and walked towards my small apartment. I pounded his shoulder, wanting to get down. "Don't let anyone see."

Edward teased in my ear. "Weren't you quite bold just now? Now you want to avoid people?"

I tried to cover Edward's mouth but failed. Edward continued, "Just now, you couldn't stop. If you don't want it now, there won't be a next time."

I pretended to be calm and tried to jump out of Edward's arms, but he held me tightly, refusing to let me go. His arm moved to circle around my legs, securing me in his grasp. "Diana, I like you. I really like you," he said.

In the four years of our marriage, Edward had never truly expressed his feelings for me. I looked up at his eyes, which shone with sincerity.

At that moment, I was sure Edward loved me. I lifted my head to kiss the corner of his eye, making it wet.

"I have Asperger's syndrome. I've always been able to focus on my own things. Other people never attracted me until I met you. From the moment you pretended to fall into my arms, I knew you had triggered something in me," Edward explained.

I was stunned. Pretending to fall into Edward's arms was something I did the first time I met him at 13. It had been over a decade, and I didn't expect him to remember.

"Your attraction to me keeps growing. I feel like I can't live without you. Every time I see you, I can't control myself." Edward threw me onto the bed.

I tugged at his tie, drawing circles on his chest with my fingers. "Men have a short period of vigor. If you keep controlling yourself, you'll get old."

Edward's body pressed down on me, as he whispered in my ear, "Then I won't control myself."

With that, he gently embraced me and kissed me. I tilted my head slightly, meeting Edward's descending body.

The white curtains by the window fluttered gently, swaying to the rhythm of a gentle breeze that carried a whisper of freshness into the room. The streetlight's glow spilled through the window, illuminating Edward's affectionate eyes.

As his body descended over mine, our eyes locked, filled with longing and deep affection.

His lips lightly touched mine, as soft as a feather, yet burning with endless passion.

The bouquet of roses on the bedside table exuded a charming fragrance, filling the air with sweetness with every breath. Our kiss deepened, our breaths intertwining.

Because we had just made love in the small garden, Edward's stamina was even better this time. His breath was hot against my ear, and my eyes grew hazy, as I gradually lost consciousness.
