Chapter 54 Sexy Pictures

Ever since that night when everything went south with Edward, I've been hanging out here, looking after Anne for a few days. The doc said she could've been discharged ages ago, but she’s stubborn and insists on staying. We’ve both been avoiding any real conversation, and the silence has been pretty suffocating.

That afternoon, it was just me and Anne in the quiet hospital room. I was chilling in a chair by her bed, reading a book. Out of nowhere, Anne broke the silence. She stood across from me, a mysterious smile creeping onto her usually pale face. "Diana, check this out," she said, grinning.

She handed me her phone, and to my shock, there was a sexy photo of me on it.

In the pic, I was leaning against the sofa, and the background was clearly the Howard Villa. I rarely wore that sexy nightgown, but after racking my brain, I remembered it was from a long time ago. I had worn it one night, waiting for him to come home from work, but he never did. That nightgown had been stuffed in the back of my closet ever since. But how the heck did such a private photo end up on Anne's phone?

Anne smiled and asked, "So, what do you think of this photo?"

I blushed instantly and asked, "Why do you have this?"

Anne didn’t answer me. Instead, she showed me several more photos of me in different sexy nightgowns, scrolling through them until the last one.

"Why do you have these photos?" I asked quietly.

Anne laughed. "Why are you in such a rush? I’ve got plenty more where these came from!"

Even though I often wore sexy dresses and got close with Edward, he never took sexy photos, and I definitely wouldn’t keep such embarrassing records myself. The only person who could’ve taken them was Anne.

"You know it's illegal to take pictures of someone without their consent," I said softly to Anne. "Do you want to get arrested again?"

"Oh, I'm terrified," Anne said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. But I could tell she wasn't scared at all.

"Diana, think about it. What's going to happen faster: you getting me arrested again, or me sending these pictures out and ruining your reputation?" Anne blatantly threatened me.

I stood up, my hands unconsciously clenching into fists, and shouted angrily, "Anne, what do you want?"

Anne took a couple of steps back and leaned against the headboard, looking completely at ease. "Don’t you know what I want? Just forgive me for what I did before and promise not to pursue it any further, and I won’t let anyone else see the photos. Otherwise, I'll post all these photos online!"

I was trembling with anger, pointing at her and cursing, "How can you do such a despicable thing? What good does it do you to ruin the Howard Family's reputation?"

Anne shrugged indifferently. "Am I despicable? You forced me into this. You took Edward from me. If you don’t forgive me, I'll be left with evidence of my crime. I might as well drag a few others down with me!" Despite her young age, Anne's words were terrifying. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. I needed to figure out how to handle this mess. I looked at her coldly. "I'm not gonna let you threaten me. You know whether those photos are really of me or not. If they get out, I'll make sure you face the legal consequences."

The smile on Anne's face faded, and she snapped, "Don't test me, Diana. You know I'll do it."

I acted indifferent. "I'm not the same Diana you can push around anymore. Your threats are meaningless. If you push me any further, I'll sue you. You know I'm not afraid to play hardball."

With that, I walked out of the hospital room, leaving Anne sitting on the bed. I didn't look back, but I could imagine the fierce look she must have given me.

Standing at the corner of the hallway, a cool breeze blew by, and I felt a bit clearer. Before this, no matter how bratty and unreasonable Anne was, she would never do something so messed up and illegal. But now, she had become so scary and irrational. After some thought, I decided it was time to talk to Edward about the situation. So, I dialed his number.

The call was quickly answered, and I heard Edward's emotionless voice.

I got straight to the point, "Edward, we need to talk about Anne."

Edward replied, "Alright, what do you want to talk about?"

"Let's meet in person. It's too complicated to explain over the phone."

"Okay, I'll be there."

To prevent Anne from causing more trouble, I decided to wait in the hospital room for Edward. As I approached the room, I heard Anne on the phone, talking about how she couldn't handle me. I couldn't help but eavesdrop for a moment. When I pushed open the door and walked in, Anne quickly hung up the phone.

Edward soon arrived at the hospital. When it came to matters involving Anne, Edward was always quick to respond.

Edward strode into the room. Anne took a step forward and threw herself into Edward's arms, crying.

"Edward, I'm so scared. I know I was wrong. I miss you so much." Even though I had anticipated Anne might put on a show in front of Edward, her acting still left me stunned.

"Diana, what did you do to Anne this time?" Edward's tone was full of impatience.

"Secretly taking and sharing someone's private photos is a crime. Anne is still young, and I don't want her to get in trouble with the law," I said, trying to sound as gentle as possible.

"Enough!" Edward interrupted me impatiently. "Anne would never do such a thing. Stop slandering her. If you had forgiven her earlier, she wouldn't be so afraid of you now."

I suddenly felt grateful that Anne was staying in a private room. Otherwise, if others saw this, wouldn't they find it laughable? Watching them embrace each other so affectionately, I actually found it quite harmonious.
