Chapter 10 The New Fashion

'That woman must be trying to cling to Charles!' Anna thought.

Charles was definitely a top-notch guy in the city!

Charles had a car, a house, no loans, and made around $150,000 to $200,000 a year. Although he's not a domineering CEO, he's still a promising catch.

She had seen Charles' photos. He was handsome  from every angle.

Moreover, his parents lived in a suburban villa, and his relatives all had decent jobs.

Last time she took Ashley to the hospital, many of Ashley's relatives came, all dressed in suits.

'They clearly doing well !'Anna thought.

She must seize this great opportunity!

It wasa pity that Charles was on a business trip and couldn't make it back that time. Otherwise, she could have met him and started building a relationship.

Anna was an expert at acting gentle and considerate in front of men.

Luna returned home after finishing up at the police department.

Calling it home wasn't quite accurate, because the home she shared with Eric Brown had long been taken over by her uncle and aunt.

There were two houses in total, and each of them took one.

Her untie deceived Luna, who was only in the 12th grade at the time, into entrusting all the compensation money to her,  promising to give it back to her when needed.

But when Luna needed money to send Eric abroad for treatment, her aunt denied the existence of the money and even accused her of being money-crazy.

That was the first time Luna experienced the coldness of family ties in the face of money.

The house in her grandmother's hometown was also partially funded by her parents. Later, when it was time for demolition, her second uncle pretended to be taking a small loss to help his siblings and tricked Luna into signing a power of attorney, handing over all matters related to the house's demolition to him.

What Luna didn't know was that her second uncle added a clause in the blank space of the power of attorney:Luna and Eric relinquish  inheritance rights to the house, giving it all to her second uncle, William Moore.

In the end, all she had left was her parents' savings, just over $100,000, which her younger aunt almost swindled away.

It was difficult for the college girl, Luan and a twelve-year-old Eric with a rare disease, with such little money .

So Luna didn't attend her dream school but chose the police academy instead.

Graduating from the police academy meant having a job, a chance to stay in the city, and most importantly, the tuition was cheap, saving money for Eric's treatment.

Theywere currently living in Ella Brown's house.

They had been living there for four years due to Eric's special needs; he couldn't be left alone, and Luna couldn't care for him while attending school. Renting a place for Eric wasn't a reliable option.

Ella approached her, offering to let them stay for $3,000 a month, including room and board for both her and Eric.

In reality, Luna only came back on weekends. During the week, it's just Eric living there.

Ella has been frugal her whole life, even stingy, but she's very generous to her cousin.

Eric had a small appetite, so Ella used that as an excuse to make oatmeal porridge for him three times a day, while  she prepared lavish meals for her cousin.

Luna had long thought of moving out, but she had just graduated. Applying for a police department dormitory would take another two to three years.

Luna opened the door, changed her shoes, and was about to head to her and Eric's bedroom when she suddenly noticed a shadow moving in the room.

Without thinking, Luna grabbed a baseball bat from the living room and walked over.
