Chapter 69 Ruining Someone Else's Life
Evelyn brought the Rolls-Royce to a halt, flung open the door, and rushed out.
Luna was worried that something might happen to her, so she followed suit.
Inside the car, Max saw Evelyn approaching and was about to instruct the driver to turn around and leave, but he froze when he saw Luna behind Evelyn.
"Mr. Lee, it's Luna. Why is she with Evelyn?"
As Max finished speaking, Charles looked up at Luna, who was clearly bewildered, following behind Evelyn. He said in a deep voice, "From now on, call her Ms. Brown. Do not address her by her first name."
Max said, "Yes, Mr. Lee."
Max hesitated for a moment before agreeing.
He thought the main issue here wasn't how he addressed Ms. Brown, but why Ms. Brown was with Evelyn.
However, since Mr. Lee had spoken, he had to comply.
Evelyn stretched out her arms to block the car but couldn't see Charles inside.
She could only see the driver and the bodyguard.
The partition inside the car slowly rose, blocking her view.
"Charlie! Can you get out of the car? Just let me see you. When I clear things up, I'll leave! I'm not trying to cling to you and I just want to make friends with you. Is that too much to ask?"
Evelyn spoke, her voice choked with tears.
She was already dressed lightly. But now she stood shivering in the cold wind, stubbornly refusing to move aside.
Luna felt this was a personal matter and didn't want to interfere, so she stood by and waited.
Evelyn called the person in the car Charlie, so it must be that person who was the richest man in Bright City!
Luna glanced at the luxury car. She had seen this convoy two or three times recently. It seemed Bright City was really small and she kept running into the richest man.
"Reverse!"
Charles ordered coldly. He could clearly see Luna standing to the side. He had planned to switch to a BYD after parking here and pretend to pass by the police station to pick her up.
After all, he and Luna still had to spend over twenty together. During this time, he would try to do what a husband was obligated to do, except for his love.
Who knew he would run into this crazy Evelyn?
Seeing the Rolls-Royce start to reverse, Evelyn tried to chase after it, but Luna quickly grabbed her.
"Don't chase it. It's too dangerous."
If Luna hadn't pulled her back in time, Evelyn would have run to the other side of the road and almost gotten hit by a car.
"Don't stop me! I need a chat with him! Why is he avoiding me? I've made it clear that I won't be clingy or anything! Can't we at least be pals??"
"I finally managed to track him down. It won't be easy to run into him again."
Evelyn said, stumbling towards her car, and Luna chased after her.
Before Evelyn could start the car, Luna took the keys.
"Luna, I'm sorry. I can't take you to dinner today. I have to chase him and I have to catch up with him today. Give me the keys."
Evelyn was totally freaking out and babbling nonsensically, having completely shed her once sweet and adorable facade.
Luna sighed. Instead of comforting Evelyn, she clearly laid out the consequences.
"Ms. Nelson, when you were crossing the road earlier, you nearly got smacked by a van! If I hadn't yanked you back, both you and the driver would've been in a real pickle.!"
"The driver's just a regular guy hustling to get by. Maybe he's rushing to drop off some deliveries. After a long day, he might only pocket a couple hundred bucks, if that! But if he'd hit you, it could've set him back a solid decade or more."
"Have you thought about how your actions could ruin someone else's life? When you took that call and stepped on the gas, there was an auntie pushing a baby stroller about to cross the road. Luckily, she walked slowly, or you would be filled with regret right now!"
