Chapter 154 If You Can Change, Stay; If Not, Leave
Luna was still out cold in the hospital room. Joah and Ava were there too.
When Charles walked in, Joah looked just as surprised as Summer had earlier. Joah had just found out about Luna getting a marriage license and thought it was a joke. Turns out, it wasn't.
What a mess! Was it finally sorted out?
Charles's eyes softened when he saw Luna, unconscious with a bandage on her forehead.
"Mr. Lee, I'm Joah Hotch, the team leader. Luna was on a mission when the floor collapsed. She pushed an old lady out of the way and fell down the stairs, hitting her head. The exam showed no major issues, and she needs to stay overnight for observation and can be discharged tomorrow.
Charles looked from Luna to Joah, his presence making even the seasoned detective feel a bit uneasy. Joah's instincts told him this young man was far from ordinary.
"Got it. Thanks, Joah. I'll stay with her."
Given Luna's condition, Charles had to stay.
Ava felt relieved hearing Charles would stay. She was supposed to stay but was worried about her kid at home.
Joah exchanged a few polite words with Charles and left. He had heard Luna got married but didn't believe it. Seeing her husband now, he was even more shocked.
Outside the room, Ava said, "Joah, I heard Luna took Paul's spot because he disappeared without notice. What a mess, but at least Luna's okay!"
"I'm not saying Paul should've been the one in trouble, but Luna took the hit for him! Paul was so irresponsible," Ava added, defending Luna.
Joah could sense the growing dissatisfaction with Paul among the entire team, not just Ava. He'd have a talk with him. If Paul could change, he could stay; if not, he'd have to go.
In the hallway, Warren was leaning against the wall, refusing to leave. Summer smacked him on the head.
"Do you want me to drag you out by the neck?" she threatened. She'd done it before when Warren was disobedient.
Warren hung his head, voice muffled. "That guy's just good-looking. He doesn't have any chemistry with Luna. They got the marriage license by mistake and can get divorced in a month. I don't want Luna to be taken advantage of by him."
Warren didn't want to leave, fearing something would happen if he did. The thought of Luna spending every day with Charles was driving him crazy.
"Luna doesn't have chemistry with him, but she does with you? At least she sees Charles as a normal man. She sees you as a little brother! Luna's a cop. She can take care of herself. There's no need for you to worry so much! Come with me!" Summer said, dragging Warren away.
Warren stayed silent, feeling down.
In the hospital room, Charles noticed Luna's blanket had slipped. He tried to cover her up, but as soon as he touched the blanket, Luna turned over, pinning his hand under her shoulder.
